Groundbreaker's new album, "Soul To Soul" is once again centered around the fantastic vocal talents of Steve Overland (FM) with stunning production by Alessandro Del Vecchio. While the self-titled debut was a collaboration with Robert Sall (Work of Art, W.E.T), on the songwriting side, joining Steve and Alessandro this time are Stefano Lionetti (Lionville), Pete Alpenborg (Arctic Rain), Jan Akesson (Infinite & Divine), and Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal). The resulting album is simply everything that a melodic rock fan could hope and dream for. Expect nothing less than soaring hooklines, magnificent melodies, and amazing instrumental performances. Mixing the best of the European melodic rock traditions, "Soul To Soul" is easily one of the melodic rock highlights of the year.

The lineup on the new album includes Sven Larsson (ex-Street Talk) on guitars, Nalley Pahlsson (ex- Vindictiv, Therion) on bass, Herman Furin (Work of Art) on drums, and Alessandro Del Vecchio on keyboards. Steve Overland plays lead guitar on the track "Wild World" too.

Groundbreaker started with a conversation between Frontiers President Serafino Perugino and Overland. Perugino was eager to start a top notch collaboration with well-respected musicians from the European melodic rock scene and highlight Overland's absolutely stunning vocal talents. Robert Sall of Work of Art was brought into the picture to craft the songs and to be paired with Alessandro Del Vecchio's production. Overland immediately loved the material that was submitted to him and consequently, they started to work on finishing the songs. The band's debut album was greeted warmly by the melodic rock community and now, those same fans can prepare themselves for another delightful entry into the melodic rock realm

In August 2019, power metal newcomers NorthTale released their successful first album "Welcome To Paradise". After their debut show at Sabaton Open Air in Sweden, followed by shows in Japan, the band underwent a line-up change and after months of auditions, new vocalist Guilherme Hirose from Sao Paolo, Brazil was chosen. Now, after releasing several rerecorded songs from "Welcome To Paradise" with Guilherme on vocals, the band finally announces a new album, "Eternal Flame". Produced by Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Unisonic), the album features 12 brand-new tracks and a whole range of new influences, from thrash metal, classical citations and Brazilian traditional music, all fused into NorthTale's own brand of melodic power metal. "Eternal Flame" features guest appearances from legendary icon Kai Hansen (Helloween, Gamma Ray), his son Tim Kanoa Hansen (Induction), Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland) and Mary Zimmer (Helion Prime). The album artwork was created by Gustavo Sazes (Machine Head, Amaranthe, Kamelot).

21 years ago, the Swedish Heavy Metal powerhouse HAMMERFALL, travelled to Nashville to record their third album with legendary producer Michael Wagner, leaving the safe space that was Studio Fredman in Goteborg. Fredrik Nordstrom had recorded the two previous records, so naturally that was a huge change for the band. The Wagner experience and the "Renegade" album turned out great, as we all know today. For this anniversary edition, the band felt that they needed to close the circle and have Fredrik remix the Renegade album.

English prog rock band Van Der Graaf's entire recorded work for Charisma Records released in a 17CD+3 x blu-ray box set. This package features remastered albums, bonus tracks, BBC sessions, rare video footage, new stereo remixes and 5.1 surround versions.

The studio albums features on The Charisma Years are as follows: The Least We Can Do is Wave to Each Other (1970), H to He Who Am the Only One (1970), Pawn Hearts (1971), Godbluff (1975), Still Life (1976), World Record (1976) and The Quiet Zone / The Pleasure Dome (1977). All of these have bonus tracks such as A-sides, B-sides and all of the surviving BBC sessions recorded by the band. CD 4 is almost an entire disc of Pawn Hearts sessions.

Additionally, the double live album, Vital (1978) is included, as is a recently discovered and previously unreleased entire concert recorded in Paris in December 1976 by French radio.

The last four CDs in The Charisma Years (CD14 to CD17) are new stereo mixes of H to he Who Am the Only One, Pawn Hearts, Godbluff and Still Life. These have been remixed from the original multi-track tapes by Stephen W Tayler.

The Tragically Hip have always taken a certain modest pride in their Canadian roots. The group wanted to title their third album "Saskadelphia," but the record label found it "too Canadian." The group then suggested Road Apples, local slang for frozen horse-droppings, and the record label, unaware of its meaning, liked it. Don't let the title fool you; Road Apples is some of the best of the Hip's best work. Recorded in New Orleans under the watchful eyes of producers Don Smith and Bruce Barris, Road Apples is a more polished effort than the group's previous two albums. Smith and Barris have created a cleaner, more efficient sound that complements lead singer Gord Downie's manic energy. Equally impressive is the work of guitarist Bobby Baker. The Southern twang on "Twist My Arm" as well as the raw power of "Little Bones" and "Long Time Running" illustrate Baker's skill and dexterity. The ballad "Fiddler's Green" is a pleasant departure and is as effective as any of the other tracks on the album. All in all, the straight-ahead roots rock of Road Apples is a perfect example of why the Tragically Hip are legends north of the 49th parallel. American audiences have yet to catch on, but they would be doing themselves a favor by not stepping aside Road Apples.

English prog rock band Van Der Graaf's entire recorded work for Charisma Records released in a 17CD+3 x blu-ray box set. This package features remastered albums, bonus tracks, BBC sessions, rare video footage, new stereo remixes and 5.1 surround versions.

The studio albums features on The Charisma Years are as follows: The Least We Can Do is Wave to Each Other (1970), H to He Who Am the Only One (1970), Pawn Hearts (1971), Godbluff (1975), Still Life (1976), World Record (1976) and The Quiet Zone / The Pleasure Dome (1977). All of these have bonus tracks such as A-sides, B-sides and all of the surviving BBC sessions recorded by the band. CD 4 is almost an entire disc of Pawn Hearts sessions.

Additionally, the double live album, Vital (1978) is included, as is a recently discovered and previously unreleased entire concert recorded in Paris in December 1976 by French radio.

The last four CDs in The Charisma Years (CD14 to CD17) are new stereo mixes of H to he Who Am the Only One, Pawn Hearts, Godbluff and Still Life. These have been remixed from the original multi-track tapes by Stephen W Tayler.

Thirteen years after the release of their surprise hit album Raising Sand, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have finally reunited for a follow-LP, Raise the Roof.

Raise the Roof was produced by T-Bone Burnett, who also worked with Plant and Krauss on Raising Sand. It features songs by Merle Haggard, Allen Toussaint, the Everly Brothers, and Bert Jancsh in addition to their original tune "High and Lonesome."

The two singers were joined in the studio by drummer Jay Bellerose, guitarists Marc Ribot, David Hidalgo, Bill Frisell, and Buddy Miller, bassists Dennis Crouch and Viktor Krauss, and pedal steel guitarist Russ Pahl.

Literally translating to "an unwelcome" or "unacceptable" person, Persona Non Grata touches on themes of modern societal disgust and degradation. For the third time in the band's history, Exodus returned to Swedish artist Par Olofsson to create the album artwork. A three-faced, winged creature sits atop a bloody pile of diseased and rotting humans as they scream in pain and reach their hands up desperately towards the beast. Undead riot cops beat mercilessly, and senselessly upon this pile of the dying, and the world is red with fresh, sopping blood.

Ever wonder what Christmas carols sounded like back in time when the finest form of transportation was by horse and wearing armor was a hip fashion statement? Well then, the second release of 2006 by Blackmore's Night, Winter Carols, may offer some insight. As with their previous efforts, the music on Winter Carols is of the Renaissance-inspired folk variety. And while the majority of the songs are traditional compositions, there are also a few originals, including "Winter (Basse Dance)," which includes some simply gorgeous acoustic guitar doodling by once Fender Strat/Marshall amp abuser Blackmore. Elsewhere, songs such as "Hark the Herald Angels Sing/Come All Ye Faithful" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" would sound splendid sung around the campfire -- if it were still the 15th century. Unfortunately, a rendition of the Chipmunks' "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" is not included.

Combining the brutal with the catchy and drenching it in orchestrations that only serve to expand its epic scale, Colosseum is a thrilling, gripping listen with each of its nine tracks playing an important part in the album as a whole, making it clear that W.E.B. stands toe-to-toe with anyone in their genre.

With Colosseum, the band welcomes two new members: drummer Nikitas Mandolas, who joined following the recording of 2017's Tartarus and whose playing is perfectly suited to the music W.E.B. creates, and bassist/vocalist Hel Pyre. "Apart from the great lyrics and the perfect bass performance, she offered her brutal and clean vocals on many parts of the album, leaving her own mark of fire. This is a completely new element for W.E.B. that really gave a unique character to the material."

In titling the record Colosseum, W.E.B. draw comparisons with the past and present, in typically brutal style. "The Colosseum was the famous gigantic arena in Rome to give the people 'food and spectacle,' whereas what it truly did was to quench the mob's thirst for blood and violence and keep their minds away from thinking; kind of an ancient TV-brainwash machine," notes Sakis. "People nowadays seem to be thirsty for blood more than ever. They seek violence in almost everything. You can see it in social media, in the streets - even a simple fight between kids in a schoolyard attracts the other kids, not to separate but to watch. Humans miss the Colosseum and what it gave to their violent nature, even though they will never admit it. The title Colosseum is the irony of giving them what they secretly desire. Maybe then they will start to understand what they see in their mirror and hopefully it will bother them."

Dion is following up his critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2020 album release Blues With Friends with Stomping Ground, a new album that finds him collaborating yet again with music greats with whom he shares mutual admiration. When the pandemic hit and Brighton's Theatre Royal stood empty for months, Elbow were able to use its atmospheric surroundings to record their ninth album, having started writing the songs individually in their home studios during the first lockdown. The result feels like a logical progression from 2019's Giants of All Sizes, an album that was at odds with the prevailing, Spotify-friendly currents; one that asked listeners to approach it as a single suite of songs.

A sense of space permeates throughout here, the band's long-established love of prog evident in the gently meandering, loose-limbed arrangements, recalling at times a more earthbound Laughing Stock-era Talk Talk. With the exception of impassioned closer What Am I Without You, there is nothing on Flying Dream 1 that leaps out at the listener; instead these songs represent subtle gradations of softly articulated warmth and empathy. After the Eclipse, with its gorgeous-sounding invitation to "come out into the sun", is lifted by Sarah Field's clarinet flourishes; Is It a Bird is a masterclass in minimalist restraint. But really this is an album that (once again) quietly demands to be heard, and enjoyed, as an inseparable whole.

"Turning to Crime" is the first studio album by Deep Purple entirely made of songs not written by the band and previously recorded by other artists. The "time trilogy", consisting of "NOW What?!", "inFinite" and "Whoosh!" (2013, 2017 and 2020) has sold over 1 million albums, topped the charts 11 times and achieved more than 40 Top 10 positions worldwide.

Producer and friend Bob Ezrin assigned each band member a few of the selected songs to arrange. No one knew what the other band members were creating, how they arranged the first demos, until the results were shared. They all became co-producers of "their songs", and once everybody else joined, it all turned into DEEP PURPLE songs.

Despite the recording of this album relied a lot on today's technology, the band resisted abusing the possibilities offered by today's recording techniques by re-recording certain passages again and again. DEEP PURPLE is not cut and paste rock and roll! This makes them different from a lot of music that is currently recorded.

So, the "fun experiment" turned into something that galvanized them and that shaped quickly into a real piece of art. "TURNING TO CRIME" is Deep Purple enjoying playing music without commercial plans nor losing their edge and drive. This is DEEP PURPLE coming full circle.

Portland, OR - Paul Gilbert and The Players Club / Mascot Label Group have announced the release of a new seasonal offering titled 'TWAS. Gilbert's 17th solo album features a dozen recordings, two of which are new, original compositions.

Gilbert shares, "Many will agree that in recent times, challenging events have been pouring down upon our heads like an Exploding Waterfall of Molasses. At least it sometimes feels like that to me. But while I was jamming Christmas songs with my friends, playing an assortment of red, green, and white Ibanez electric guitars, I felt like life was THE BEST. 'CHESS' is the second album of Bernie Marsden's 'Inspirations Series' (a concept sparked by a backstage conversation with ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons about influences and heroes). Bernie created the 'Inspirations Series' to showcase the rich veins of music of those who inspired him during his formative years. In 'KINGS', Bernie turned the spotlight on Freddie, Albert and B.B King; in 'CHESS', he moves focus to tracks and artists on the fabled Chess label.

The album features 10 tracks that were originally released on Chess by greats such as Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Muddy Waters & Elmore James. What's more, two Bernie Marsden-penned instrumentals appear as bonus tracks on the album.

'CHESS' was recorded 'the old way': with a band of truly gifted musicians, all in one room, over a handful of days. It's led to a subtle, tasteful and superbly delivered reimagining of these classic songs.
