In Concert of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's solo concert at the Royal Festival Hall, London in June 2001, as part of the Robert Wyatt-curated Meltdown festival. It also features additional tracks recorded during three concerts at the same venue in January 2002. The track selection includes several Pink Floyd compositions in addition to Gilmour's solo works. Guest appearances are made by Floyd colleague Richard Wright, as well as Robert Wyatt and Bob Geldof. It includes the first ever performance of "Smile" a track which would appear almost five years later on Gilmour's third solo album - On an Island, and Gilmour even plays a few Syd Barrett compositions. Also included is "Je crois entendre encore" ("I still believe I hear"), an aria from Georges Bizet's opera Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers), with a libretto by Eugène Cormon and Michel Carré, and sung by Gilmour in the original French.

}Countdown to Ecstasy wasn't half the hit that Can't Buy a Thrill was, and Steely Dan responded by trimming the lengthy instrumental jams that were scattered across Countdown and concentrating on concise songs for Pretzel Logic. While the shorter songs usually indicate a tendency toward pop conventions, that's not the case with Pretzel Logic. Instead of relying on easy hooks, Walter Becker and Donald Fagen assembled their most complex and cynical set of songs to date. Dense with harmonics, countermelodies, and bop phrasing, Pretzel Logic is vibrant with unpredictable musical juxtapositions and snide, but very funny, wordplay. Listen to how the album's hit single, "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," opens with a syncopated piano line that evolves into a graceful pop melody, or how the title track winds from a blues to a jazzy chorus -- Becker and Fagen's craft has become seamless while remaining idiosyncratic and thrillingly accessible. Since the songs are now paramount, it makes sense that Pretzel Logic is less of a band-oriented album than Countdown to Ecstasy, yet it is the richest album in their catalog, one where the backhanded Dylan tribute "Barrytown" can sit comfortably next to the gorgeous "Any Major Dude Will Tell You." Steely Dan made more accomplished albums than Pretzel Logic, but they never made a better one.

Can't Buy a Thrill became an unexpected hit, and as a response, Donald Fagen became the group's full-time lead vocalist, and he and Walter Becker acted like Steely Dan was a rock & roll band for the group's second album, Countdown to Ecstasy. The loud guitars and pronounced backbeat of "Bodhisattva," "Show Biz Kids," and "My Old School" camouflage the fact that Countdown is a riskier album, musically speaking, than its predecessor. Each of its eight songs have sophisticated, jazz-inflected interludes, and apart from the bluesy vamps "Bodhisattva" and "Show Biz Kids," which sound like they were written for the stage, the songs are subtly textured. "Razor Boy," with its murmuring vibes, and the hard bop tribute "Your Gold Teeth" reveal Becker and Fagen's jazz roots, while the country-flavored "Pearl of the Quarter" and the ominous, skittering "King of the World" are both overlooked gems. Countdown to Ecstasy is the only time Steely Dan played it relatively straight, and its eight songs are rich with either musical or lyrical detail that their album rock or art rock contemporaries couldn't hope to match.

Udo Lindenberg veröffentlicht seit 1971 Platten, hat über vier Jahrzehnte immer wieder den Nerv der Zeit getroffen und wie kaum ein anderer die Menschen emotional erreicht. Sein Werk ist Zeitgeschichte − unterhaltsam, politisch, romantisch und tiefgründig zugleich. So etwas schaffen nur sehr wenige Künstler. Seine Arbeit umfasst mehr als 40 Platten (Live- und Studioalben, sowie DVDs), und ein Großteil seines Werkes wurde nun für die Programm-Initiative "HighResAudio" neu in 24-Bit gemastert.

"Udo Lindenberg Mastered for HighResAudio" ist bis dato das umfangreichste Projekt, welches in Deutschland in dieses neue Format gebracht wurde. Das Ganze geschah in Düsseldorf, in der Skyline Tonfabrik, wo uns Peter "Jem" Seifert und Kai Blankenberg Einblicke in den Prozess und die Hintergründe des Projekts geben.

Die meisten Master waren auf 1/4″-Analogbändern. Warner Music und Universal haben uns ihr komplettes Archiv zugänglich gemacht. Alle Bänder liefen auf 38 cm/Sekunde, teilweise mit Dolby A aufgenommen. Das war schon ein irrer Moment, als wir das erste 1/4″-Band aufgelegt haben: Ball Pompös von 1974, in dem Jahr bin ich geboren! Es lief einwandfrei ohne Abrieb und klang tierisch: Gänsehaut! Nach wie vor eine meiner Lieblings-Udo-Platten.

Für jedes Band hat Oliver Gregor (Rockruepel) die Bandmaschine optimal neu eingemessen. Beim Aussteuern der Wandler haben wir auf ca. 6 dB Headroom geachtet und haben ganz leise oder laute Bänder mit einem analogen Verstärker etwas angehoben oder abgesenkt. So haben wir einerseits sichergestellt, immer so nah wie möglich am Originalsound zu bleiben, und hatten andererseits immer einen vergleichbaren Pegel bei den Audiofiles, was für ein schnelles und strukturiertes Arbeiten wichtig war.

Sweathog was an American rock band. Group members Lenny Goldsmith and David Leonard Johnson first met in 1967 while Johnson was playing in a group called The Persuaders at the Wayne Manor nightclub in Sunnyvale, California. After Johnson did a stint with the Beach Boys and Dr. John, he reconvened with Lenny and formed Sweathog along with Barry "Frosty" Smith, also known as Bartholomew Eugene Smith-Frost, who at that time was playing with Lee Michaels and had been in Lenny's band in San Jose. Robert Morris "B.J." Jones (November 9, 1942 - June 15, 2013) played with Johnson in Blue Mountain Eagle and was invited to join Sweathog.

Employing a sinister blend of goth-metal and dark industrial rock, Germany's Lord of the Lost was founded in 2007 by vocalist/guitarist Chris Harms, who had previously fronted Hamburg-based gloom-rockers Philiae. "What seems to be an unlikely pairing of former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant and bluegrass superstar Alison Krauss is actually one of the most effortless-sounding duos in modern popular music. The bridge seems to be producer T-Bone Burnett and the band assembled for this outing: drummer Jay Bellerose (who seems to be the session drummer in demand these days), upright bassist Dennis Crouch, guitarists Marc Ribot and Burnett, with Greg Leisz playing steel here and there, and a number of other guest appearances. Krauss, a monster fiddle player, only does so on two songs here. The proceedings are, predictably, very laid-back. Burnett has only known one speed these last ten years, and so the material chosen by the three is mostly very subdued. This doesn't make it boring, despite Burnett's production, which has become utterly predictable since he started working with Gillian Welch. He has a "sound" in the same way Daniel Lanois does: it's edges are all rounded, everything is very warm, and it all sounds artificially dated. Sam Phillips' "Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us" is a centerpiece on this set. It has her fingerprints all over it. This tune, with its forlorn, percussion-heavy tarantella backdrop, might have come from a Tom Waits record were it not so intricately melodic -- and Krauss' gypsy swing fiddle is a gorgeous touch. There is an emptiness at the heart of longing particularly suited to Krauss' woodsy voice, and Plant's harmony vocal is perfect, understated yet ever-present. It's the most organically atmospheric tune on the set -- not in terms of production, but for lyric and compositional content. Stellar." (Thom Jurek, AMG)

This is their first full studio album since their acclaimed long-player "Between Dog and Wolf" in 2013, which, according to The Times "marks a creative renaissance for the band from Bradford". This album saw New Model Army receive the best critical response of their career and top 30 chart positions in UK and German - their highest since "The Love of Hopeless Causes" 20 years previously. "Between Dog And Wolf" was shortly followed in 2014 by Matt Reid's fascinating and absorbing documentary feature film "Between Dog And Wolf: The New Model Army Story" which had a successful run at worldwide film festivals. Its excellent reviews on home entertainment release (described in their 4-star review by Mojo as an "uplifting rags-to-more-rags tale of the cult-like post punks") in turn created further world-wide interest in this unique and passionate group who have always remained true to themselves and successful on their own terms whilst remaining outside the mainstream.

"Winter" will be released on band's own Attack Attack label via Red Essential in the UK and Ireland and with earMUSIC worldwide. Formats include CD Hardcover Mediabook, Double 180g-Vinyl Gatefold, download and streaming.

"Beginning" through to the closing song "After Something" the album builds on the new directions taken by "Between Dog And Wolf", yet also has familiar echoes of the immediacy and engagement of the band's classic albums "The Ghost of Cain" and "Thunder and Consolation".

Says founder, lead Singer and main songwriter Justin Sullivan: "Between Dog And Wolf" opened up a lot of creative doors for us, so it was exciting to go and look inside. The results were not necessarily planned - as usual we felt our way - but I think "Winter" has a really strong identity. It is very much the sound of people in difficult places - something that so many of us can relate to at the moment, on a lot of different levels. Lee McKinney is best known as the guitarist and composer of the progressive metal band Born of Osiris. He produces, records, and engineers out of Osiris Studios. Born Lee Patrick McKinney on April 24, 1989, he grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Lee picked up the guitar at age 10 and knew immediately that music was his passion. To that end, he began practicing up to 6-10 hours a day in effort to become the most he could be at his instrument. Some of his early influences include Randy Rhoads, Eric Johnson, Dimebag Darrell, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, and more.

In 2007 at the age of 17, Born of Osiris was offered a record contract from Sumerian Records. Not only have they performed on stages with Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, Bring Me The Horizon, and more, but they also landed four consecutive entries on the Billboard Top 200, including A Higher Place [2009], The Discovery [2011], Tomorrow We Die Alive [2013], and Soul Sphere [2015]. By looking back, the group made a major leap forward. They spent 2017 performing their breakthrough 2007 debut, The New Reign, in its entirety on the road. The band's 2019 record The Simulation has them sitting in their best and brightest place yet, over a decade into existence.

Tristan Harders' Twilight Theatre is the solo project by German Power Metal Band Terra Atlantica's vocalist and guitarist Tristan Harders.
The intention behind this project is to fill the void and lack of live concerts which was created by the global pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Tristan used the obtained free time to finally record a couple of songs that were gathered over the last decade but never put to an appropriate use.

Musically the project is very close to Terra Atlantica's style of early 2000's melodic power metal with lots of catchy choruses and choirs but less dramatic and lyrically more personal in a direct sense.

These energized tracks make it clear that COVID-19's enforced isolation sparked fresh inspiration in Elvis Costello to rediscover his trademark urgency, not to mention his gifts for wordplay and melody. From the spirited, Beatlesque opener, "Farewell OK" (which has echoes of the bounce of "Welcome to the Working Week") fans of his songwriting and performances from the past will be pleased. This is the Costello you remember and want to hear again.

In "The Difference" where he asks, "Do you know what turns pleasure to plight?" an insistent beat and touch of Vox organ make for the kind of driving, New Wave pop tune he mastered forty years ago. Costello's lifelong fascination with roses (see 1991's Mighty Like a Rose) returns to tell a dreamlike story of, as he has explained, "a bereft couple . one of whom has long invited and courted theatrical darkness only for its violence and cruelty to become all too real." Set to a determined walking beat and with Steve Nieve leaning into the organ "Magnificent Hurt" resurrects much of Costello's need to testify! And it's impossible to mistake the autobiography of the title track, a man Costello describes as an "imaginary friend" and a "second, unpleasant nature."

The Boy Named If is also that rare pandemic record that sounds as if it was recorded with the band all together in the same room. A trio of strengths buoy the songs here: Costello's impassioned vocal takes-he's able to hit all the high notes, with his conspiratorial growl and rising cries both in top form; the twisting, often opaque rhymes that have always been his specialty are again in high gear, as in this couplet from "Mistook Me for a Friend"-"I count my money out/ To pay for contraband/ I carry velvet gloves/ 'Cause the black gets on your hands;" and most powerfully, Pete Thomas' incredible drumming. To repeat the adage, Thomas sounds like "a man possessed." Located forward in the mix, his clattering, fleet, forceful rhythms-always fringed with just a dash of punk rock abandon as in "The Death of Magical Thinking"-are the album's bedrock and most pronounced musical flavor.

There are of course lesser moments like "Penelope Halfpenny" which sounds like an idea that never quite gelled or perhaps is the sonic result of the remote recording process. Another inevitable side effect of this method are the sometimes abrupt endings that suddenly trail off or just stop after a chorus. Udo Lindenberg veröffentlicht seit 1971 Platten, hat über vier Jahrzehnte immer wieder den Nerv der Zeit getroffen und wie kaum ein anderer die Menschen emotional erreicht. Sein Werk ist Zeitgeschichte − unterhaltsam, politisch, romantisch und tiefgründig zugleich. So etwas schaffen nur sehr wenige Künstler. Seine Arbeit umfasst mehr als 40 Platten (Live- und Studioalben, sowie DVDs), und ein Großteil seines Werkes wurde nun für die Programm-Initiative "HighResAudio" neu in 24-Bit gemastert.

"Udo Lindenberg Mastered for HighResAudio" ist bis dato das umfangreichste Projekt, welches in Deutschland in dieses neue Format gebracht wurde. Das Ganze geschah in Düsseldorf, in der Skyline Tonfabrik, wo uns Peter "Jem" Seifert und Kai Blankenberg Einblicke in den Prozess und die Hintergründe des Projekts geben.

Die meisten Master waren auf 1/4″-Analogbändern. Warner Music und Universal haben uns ihr komplettes Archiv zugänglich gemacht. Alle Bänder liefen auf 38 cm/Sekunde, teilweise mit Dolby A aufgenommen. Das war schon ein irrer Moment, als wir das erste 1/4″-Band aufgelegt haben: Ball Pompös von 1974, in dem Jahr bin ich geboren! Es lief einwandfrei ohne Abrieb und klang tierisch: Gänsehaut! Nach wie vor eine meiner Lieblings-Udo-Platten.

Für jedes Band hat Oliver Gregor (Rockruepel) die Bandmaschine optimal neu eingemessen. Beim Aussteuern der Wandler haben wir auf ca. 6 dB Headroom geachtet und haben ganz leise oder laute Bänder mit einem analogen Verstärker etwas angehoben oder abgesenkt. So haben wir einerseits sichergestellt, immer so nah wie möglich am Originalsound zu bleiben, und hatten andererseits immer einen vergleichbaren Pegel bei den Audiofiles, was für ein schnelles und strukturiertes Arbeiten wichtig war.
