Originally recorded for MTV at the Summit in Houston, TX in November of 1981. The double album contains such hits as "Lights", "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'", "Wheel In The Sky" and "Anyway You Want It". In addition, there are tracks from Journey's then-current album Escape, including the title cut along with "Open Arms", Who's Crying Now" and "Don't Stop Believin'".

"In 1981 Journey were one of the most popular bands in all of rock & roll, after years of having their first four albums relegated to the prog rock bargain bins. Escape was number one on the album charts, and the group was selling out sports arenas nationwide. This disc captures the band at its live performance peak, with Neal Schon's solos bordering -- but never really crossing -- the line of pretentiousness, and Steve Perry's vocals rarely sounding more impassioned. It's annoying (especially to Detroit natives) to hear the lyric "born and raised in South Detroit" changed to "born and raised in Houston," but Perry does a wonderful job keeping the audience engaged and fired up, notably during the dramatic one-two punch of "Open Arms" and "Mother, Father." A nice supplement to Captured, and a snapshot of Journey during their time of world pop chart domination, sounding like a finely tuned unstoppable machine. And until the band reunites with Perry supplying the vocals, it's the next best thing to actually being there." (Rob Theakston, AMG)

Geffen/UMe set celebrate the very best of Glenn Frey's solo career with a stunning album set, Above the Clouds: The Collection. Frey, a co-founding member of the Eagles, one of the world's best-loved and best-selling bands, also carved out a notable solo career during their hiatus in the '80s and beyond, something he carried through with as an artist right up until his untimely passing in January 2016.

Above the Clouds compiles the key elements of Frey's music both before and after the Eagles became international superstars, showcasing the broad range and wide influence of the Detroit-bred singer-songwriter in the process. The collection is a fitting way to honor a singer-songwriter whose imagination knew no bounds.

Aptly subtitled The Very Best of Glenn Frey, is chock-full of major chart hits, including the Beverly Hills Cop smash "The Heat Is On," the gritty, slide-guitar-driven gutbucket groove of "Smuggler's Blues," the epic Miami Vice ballad "You Belong to the City," the inward-looking poignancy of "Soul Searchin'," and much more. This disc will be available as a stand-alone disc as well as part of the box set. And while Glenn clearly embraced the burgeoning video age, nabbing a vaunted 1985 MTV Music Video Award with the cinematically dramatic clip for "Smuggler's Blues," it's the enduring essence of the man's songwriting skills on display here that truly sealed his legacy as a solo artist.

The album explores Frey's prowess beyond the charts, from the classy to the classic. Included are the broad swath of "After Hours," his majestic take on "For Sentimental Reasons," a harmonic nod to the Beach Boys with a spot-on cover of "Caroline, No," and the sheer battle cry of "Route 66" among them.

The album are highlights the early output of the duo formed by longtime friends Frey and JD Souther known as Longbranch/Pennywhistle makes its digital debut. Originally released on the Amos label in 1969, the self-titled Longbranch/Pennywhistle may have ultimately been consigned to the side bins of the acid-rock era, but songs like "Kite Woman" and "Run, Boy, Run" serve as the literal seeds of the country-rock movement Frey and the Eagles perfected to a T. Besides navigating the success of his own fine solo career (see "You're Only Lonely"), Souther also went on to be a chief Frey collaborator on such pivotal Eagles songs as "Best of My Love," "New Kid in Town," and "Heartache Tonight."

Glenn Frey, both as solo artist and as a member of the Eagles, has received many accolades, including six GRAMMY Awards, numerous gold and platinum albums and performed sold-out concert tours worldwide. Frey is the founding member, vocalist and songwriter of the Eagles, one of the most influential bands in America. His solo career is acclaimed with such hits as "The Heat Is On," "You Belong to the City," "The One You Love," "Smuggler's Blues," and "I Found Somebody." He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and posthumously received the Kennedy Center Honor in 2016 as a member of the Eagles.

Varrod has added even more wide ranging musical ingredients into the cosmic soup; from the skittering tribal rhythms of afro hippie rock in Bong Song to the New Wave Devo 7/4 time jerkiness of Hop. The infectiously bouncy and green minded, Chlorophyllia evokes the memory of eighties post punk popsters, Fun Boy Three (if they'd harked from Dagobah rather than Coventry) and there's even an electronica nod to Varrod's mother band, the hitmakers, I Monster, no less.

Lyrically, this new outing is tonally more wriggly and playful than last year's album, (The Hideous Goblink. Do we need to mention the title again?) which reflected on the troubling issues we currently face this century. Worm! does not dwell on such dark matters this time around. In Regal Wishbone, Varrod contemplates if humans could only fly wondrously like birds and in Don't Freak Out The Creatures our hero then considers space travel as the only way forward. When the listener really takes flight is experiencing the grandiose nine and a quarter minute long Kazakhstan folk/jazz/EDM centre piece symphony, The Steppe Nomad Space Program, a tale full of hope as extraterrestrials exit their craft in the Steppe only to be greeted by fellow nomads of the humankind.

It's not all Sci-fi Ray Bradbury-land though; for your delight, there is the cosmological and ecclesiastical sounding (with a dash of acid techno thrown in) Is There Anything Blacker Than A Black Cat?, wistful synth-heavy numbers like Dindy Super, a nostalgic lament for the simple pleasures of a cheap audio cassette tape and the filmic space-funk track, Green Beetle, Plate 31 that examines the chemistry of aphrodisiacs and marks the first love song ever composed by Regal Worm. Even invertebrates need love.

An ode to the timelessness of classic heavy metal, Enlightened In Eternity opens with the AC/DC-meets-IRON MAIDEN galloping of Ride Into The Light, sounding for all the world initially like Thunderstruck covered by your favourite NWOBHM band. Garrett has upped his guitar playing for this record; it's chock-full of ripping solos such as on the opener and tasteful leads such as on Astral Levitation and Cosmic Conquest. Likewise, drummer Marcus Bryant turns in a fantastic performance, driving the songs forward without rushing as well as underpinning slower sections with aplomb. Vocally SPIRIT ADRIFT are absolutely a classic heavy metal act; soaring vocal lines with hooks aplenty and just the right amount of venom to avoid turning into Swiss cheese.

What makes it obvious that this is the closing chapter of the Tedeschi Trucks Band's ambitious multi-volume project keyed to the phases of the moon? Well, nothing actually. The story, which revolves around a 12th century Sufi poem, became less clear and less of a motivating factor as the albums continued. These are simply four sets of love songs, all of them beautifully sung and played, but very much inside the same southern jam rock/R&B wheelhouse that the band has always operated. Susan Tedeschi's voice is reason enough to listen to any Tedeschi Trucks Band recording but it's not clear that over two hours of music released over three months won't be received as a numbing avalanche. Given that the material on all these volumes is similar the whole way through, that fatigue sets in early with I Am The Moon IV. Farewell. Like the previous three volumes, the finale benefits from the full sound, good recording quality and instrumental variety generated by the 12-piece version of the band. Having five capable vocalists available, especially for a recording project of this size, can never be a bad thing. While the music may have been a secondary concern to the films they are meant to accompany, as well as templates for the live jams they will evolve into, easy-going blues tunes like "Last Night In The Rain" that Tedeschi nails vocally in clever stanzas ("Went down to the station/ To catch the morning train/ One ticket to lonely/ One ticket to Spain") are the band at their best. "Soul Sweet Song" is an amiable, bouncy, light R&B number. And "Where Are My Friends?"-written and sung by vocalist/guitarist Mike Mattison-has a chorus line ("At the heart of the matter") that is one of the entire project's most memorable and connected moments. Less a journey than a mass of material composed during the pandemic-enforced downtime, I Am The Moon could have been cut down into a killer single or very solid double album. © Robert Baird/Qobuz

German power metal masters Iron Savior have been active for a quarter of a century now. Consistency and high-quality delivery have earned the band around Piet Sielck a large and loyal fanbase.

In 2017, the band started a special project: Their first five studio albums were no longer available at that time (but the band could not simply re-release them for legal reasons), so they decided to re-record some highlight tracks of the Noise Records years. The result, Reforged - Riding On Fire, was received positively throughout and made the fans ask for more.

The history of Iron Savior is full of highlights, and there are many more gems that were not selected for a re-recording at that time due to capacity reasons. Thus it quickly became clear: "Reforged" goes into the second round, and Reforged - Ironbound (Vol. 2) will be coming out on August 2022, via AFM Records!

"This time we picked 23 songs, which is significantly more than the first "Reforged" part had", says bandleader Piet Sielck. "The very positive response to "Reforged - Riding On Fire" made us consider a second part. Through direct fan feedback, we then also became aware of how many songs were still slumbering there, which deserved to be suggested for a remake."

The 23 tracks of the new double album Reforged - Ironbound (Vol. 2) represent a real bastion, both quantitatively and qualitatively. "I am very satisfied with the result," Sielck states. "It's always up to the fans out there to evaluate something like this, but in my opinion, our second part of "Reforged" surpasses its predecessor. It was great fun to approach the songs again." Piet adds with a smile: "I'm especially happy that both Jan and Piesel as well as Kai (Hansen) were able to play or sing their original parts. And with the guest solo by my godson Tim Hansen, the whole thing has somehow become a cross-generational family album."

Young Blood is an album about looking at tough times in your rear view mirror, although King shares that his anthemic tales of excess and salvation draw on some difficult and personal moments. King stated, "I was going through a lot during the album with addictions, breakups, and addictions because of breakups. I was overindulging in everything."

King added, "It's not a big secret to my friends. I was in a real rough place for a while. I was trying to process the death of family members and I was on the wrong medications."

Despite the challenging personal circumstances, King has made his most accomplished work to date. One of his biggest fans, Dan Auerbach, exclaimed. "Music runs so deep in Marcus's blood he might not even realize how born to do this he is. He's the real deal. Marcus has Southern Soul as part of his foundation. If you're going to play rock 'n' roll with Marcus, you have to understand that element. It's just who he is. These songs are live performances. The whole damn thing is live-the solos and everything. It's so rare in this day and age."

Titled Survival Of The Sickest, the album from the death metal supergroup is the follow-up to 2018's The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn.

The Hu's unlikely leap through the metal ranks remains one of the brightest feelgood stories. Even before the release of their captivating debut, The Gereg, the genre-smashing Mongolians had whipped the internet into a frenzy, notching up tens of millions of streams across YouTube and social media. It was anything but a gimmick. Blending rock and metal elements with traditional Mongolian instruments and the art of throat singing, they conjured an enthralling sound rooted in fist-raising chants and rampaging tempos that felt like a marauding horde thundering across the steppe. That they struck such a resonant chord throughout the global metal community, while singing exclusively in their native tongue, spoke to the intrinsic power of the music.

Whereas their debut felt like a metal album played on folk instruments, Rumble Of Thunder is a decidedly more modern affair, opening with the one-two punch of This Is Mongol and Yut Hovende. Stridently forceful and coursing with swagger and energy, both tracks erupt with grinding waves of riffage and a full drum kit along with the traditional string and wind instruments. Rumble. renews its predecessor's affinity for flint-eyed rockers such as Shihi Hutu, Sell The World and Black Thunder, but it also delivers more depth and variety than The Gereg.

At times they step entirely away from metal in favour of zippy, pop- oriented numbers like Triangle, Teach Me and Bii Biyelgee - a booming folk pop gem with a hip-swivelling spontaneity that will reduce crowds to a joyful, sweaty mess. There's even a stab at balladry in the form of Mother Nature - perhaps the only moment when understanding the lyrics might be critical to appreciating the track. Nonetheless, here The Hu have easily sidestepped the dreaded 'sophomore slump', delivering an infectious clutch of serotonin-inducing bangers that establish the band as both gifted songwriters and forward-thinking innovators.

„Wired Ways" is the self-titled album debut of the aspiring band collective from Berlin and Hamburg. Frontiers is pleased to announce the release of Lunarian's debut album, "Burn The Beauty" on September 9, 2022. Lunarian is a new musical endeavor centered around the stunningly talented vocalist/songwriter Ailyn. "Burn The Beauty" is a showcase for the immense voice of Ailyn, which she has displayed in her work with Trail Of Tears, Sirenia, Her Chariot Awaits (her project with Mike Orlando of Adrenaline Mob), Heart Healer (Magnus Karlsson's rock-metal opera), and more.

For Lunarian, Ailyn teamed up with producer Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Archon Angel, Sweet Oblivion) to write songs for an engaging, mesmerizing symphonic metal album. And that is exactly what you get with "Burn The Beauty".

Spanish singer/songwriter Ailyn has been performing professionally since the early '00s. She started off as a solo artist before becoming the lead vocalist of the popular Norwegian symphonic metal act Sirenia. Ailyn was a member of Sirenia until 2016, releasing four albums with them. She then took a short hiatus from her musical career before announcing her return with Her Chariot Awaits, a collaboration with Adrenaline Mob guitarist Mike Orlando. The band released one album, a self-titled debut via Frontiers Music Srl. Since 2020, she has also been working with Norwegian gothic/symphonic black metal band Trail Of Tears as well, handling soprano vocals for the band.

In working with Frontiers on Her Chariot Awaits, Ailyn and the label developed a good working relationship and eventually brought her together with producer Aldo Lonobile to discuss the possibility of making a more symphonic metal sounding album compared to the contemporary hard rock sound of Her Chariot Awaits. AIlyn headed to Italy to work with Aldo and record her vocals and thus "Burn The Beauty" by Lunarian came to life.

As previously announced, Frontiers Music Srl has signed a new Danish hard rock band TABOO, who release their self-titled debut album via the label this fall. Taboo features vocalist Christoffer Stjerne, who also fronts the band H.E.R.O., and guitarist Ken Hammer, who rock fans around the world will recognize as a founding member of the beloved hard rock institution Pretty Maids. Based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, Taboo's songs are stuffed with classic heavy riffing and super melodic hooks with a dose of modernity.

With their musical union, Taboo became the musical playground for two of Denmark's most experienced and powerful musicians. The Hu's unlikely leap through the metal ranks remains one of the brightest feelgood stories. Even before the release of their captivating debut, The Gereg, the genre-smashing Mongolians had whipped the internet into a frenzy, notching up tens of millions of streams across YouTube and social media. It was anything but a gimmick. Blending rock and metal elements with traditional Mongolian instruments and the art of throat singing, they conjured an enthralling sound rooted in fist-raising chants and rampaging tempos that felt like a marauding horde thundering across the steppe. That they struck such a resonant chord throughout the global metal community, while singing exclusively in their native tongue, spoke to the intrinsic power of the music.

Whereas their debut felt like a metal album played on folk instruments, Rumble Of Thunder is a decidedly more modern affair, opening with the one-two punch of This Is Mongol and Yut Hovende. Stridently forceful and coursing with swagger and energy, both tracks erupt with grinding waves of riffage and a full drum kit along with the traditional string and wind instruments. Rumble. renews its predecessor's affinity for flint-eyed rockers such as Shihi Hutu, Sell The World and Black Thunder, but it also delivers more depth and variety than The Gereg.

At times they step entirely away from metal in favour of zippy, pop- oriented numbers like Triangle, Teach Me and Bii Biyelgee - a booming folk pop gem with a hip-swivelling spontaneity that will reduce crowds to a joyful, sweaty mess. There's even a stab at balladry in the form of Mother Nature - perhaps the only moment when understanding the lyrics might be critical to appreciating the track. Nonetheless, here The Hu have easily sidestepped the dreaded 'sophomore slump', delivering an infectious clutch of serotonin-inducing bangers that establish the band as both gifted songwriters and forward-thinking innovators.

On October 27th, 1971, Lou Reed walked into the first recording session of his solo career. I'm So Free: The 1971 RCA Demos is a collection of those rare recordings.This is Reed as few have ever heard him: the songwriter at work, pure and alone, before the noise, swagger and legend. Released on vinyl for the first time, the 13 tracks on this LP are an unprecedented addition to Reed's rock and roll life on record. His next four decades - more than 30 studio and concert albums of lyric challenge, incendiary guitar and iron-willed vision until his death in October, 2013 - start here. The final iteration of these demos can be found across Reed's discography including S/T, Transformer, Berlin, and Sally Can't Dance.

The 1970s were not kind to the Kinks. While the band had already transitioned gracefully from their mod-ish British Invasion origins (and the heavy production thumb of Shel Talmy) into something more adventurous and artful with 1968's The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, that masterpiece's two iconic follow-ups (Arthur and Lola) found Ray Davies' weird twin penchants for acidic lyricism and music hall song structures becoming more and more dominant in the group's sound. By the time the 1971 soundtrack to Percy rolled around, U.S. audiences had all but forgotten about the band, who soon found themselves facing the same fate in their native England. And although Davies would delve further and further into high-concept theatricality (and deeper commercial irrelevance) with a series of four albums in the mid-70s, there was a brief interregnum in 1971 and 1972 when it looked as if the Kinks had seized upon a creatively successful way to synthesize all of their influences. While 1971's Muswell Hillbillies is more often notched into various "Best Of..." lists, there's a strong case to be made that its follow-up, Everybody's In Show-Biz, does a much better job at showing off the band's strengths at the time. To be sure, like nearly every Kinks album, this one has a couple of bafflingly dumb songs; "Maximum Consumption" is another list-of-foods song that is the mirror image of the equally stupid "Skin and Bone" (originally on Muswell, but also here in a live version), and "Motorway" is a song about . driving (with its own short list of foods one may eat while driving). While these dumb-but-lovely tunes are par for the course for a Kinks album, the more typical Kinks tunes here-"Supersonic Rocket Ship," "Hot Potatoes" (someone please feed Ray Davies!)-are deceptively breezy, as their easy-rocking structures are played as wryly as their lyrics. A cut like "You Don't Know My Name" shouldn't be as good as it is, and it definitely shouldn't be kicked into an even higher gear by an unexpectedly perfect flute solo in the bridge. Given the relatively higher level that most of the material here is working at, it shouldn't be surprising that Show-Biz's high points are some of the best songs the Kinks ever put to vinyl. And while the emotionally note-perfect sentimentality of "Celluloid Heroes" justifiably gets the lion's share of attention, the sly and subtle "Sitting In My Hotel" is nearly as effective. Two reissues mark the album's 50th anniversary. The Deluxe 2022 Remaster version is relatively spare when it comes to extras; of course the live set from the Muswell Hillbillies tour that was included in the original vinyl version appears intact, but beyond that, the bonus material is limited to just a couple of new mixes of "Celluloid Heroes." The Legacy Edition features previously unreleased studio outtakes and more live cuts from their two-night stand at Carnegie Hall in March 1972.
