Grammy-winning roots-rock collective Tedeschi Trucks Band will return with their new album Signs, released on 15 February on Fantasy Records. It will be supported by an extensive national and international tour and is previewed by the lead track 'Hard Case.'

The 12-piece band, fronted by husband and wife Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, have created 11 new songs for the album, which like its predecessors was recorded at their own Swamp Raga home studio - once described as "an immaculate, two-story rockers playhouse" - in Jacksonville, Florida.

After the successful reissue of Marillion's 1985 album Misplaced Childhood in 2017, Parlophone relased the British quintet's fourth studio album Clutching at Straws in November.

Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Chris Kimsey and it delivered three top forty hits ('Incommunicado', 'Sugar Mice' and 'Warm Wet Circles'). Clutching At Straws would turn out to be Marillion's final studio release with original singer Fish.

Clutching at Straws relased 4CD+blu-ray deluxe edition and a 5LP vinyl box set. Both include a new stereo remix by Andy Bradfield and Avril Mackintosh (Mackintosh was the original mixing engineer for producer Chris Kimsey in Advision studios back in 1987) and a concert recording of the band performing at the Edinburgh Playhouse in December '87. Some of these live performance have appeared before, on The Thieving Magpie live album, although it should be noted that this is a new mix for 2018 by Michael Hunter.

On paper, the pairing of Les Claypool and Sean Lennon doesn't quite fit. From inside and outside Primus, Claypool has specialized in technically exacting rock, while Lennon favors a fuzzier approach, leaning on vibe and soft-focus melodies. The two approaches appear to be contradictory, but the Claypool Lennon Delirium proves they're complementary: Claypool sharpens Lennon's trippier elements, while the guitarist pushes the bassist toward melody. South of Reality, the duo's second album, crystallizes the benefits of this collaboration. Dead & Company honored students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Parkland Florida, throughout Monday night's show in nearby Sunrise Florida. Band members wore #MSDSTRONG t-shirts, and many from MSD High were there at the show, and got to hang out with the boys as guests of the band.
The entire show, the choice of songs, seemed to speak specific to the recent tragic shooting that took place at MSD.

After the successful reissue of Marillion's 1985 album Misplaced Childhood in 2017, Parlophone relased the British quintet's fourth studio album Clutching at Straws in November.

Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Chris Kimsey and it delivered three top forty hits ('Incommunicado', 'Sugar Mice' and 'Warm Wet Circles'). Clutching At Straws would turn out to be Marillion's final studio release with original singer Fish.

Concert recording of the band performing at the Edinburgh Playhouse in December '87. Some of these live performance have appeared before, on The Thieving Magpie live album, although it should be noted that this is a new mix for 2018 by Michael Hunter.

As part of the Graham Bonnet Band's 2017 "The Book" tour in Japan, a three night special engagement and reunion of Alcatrazz was presented much to the the light of the Japanese hard rock faithful.Founding Alcatrazz members, Graham Bonnet (vocals), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards) and Gary Shea (bass), reunited after 33 years for a unique series of shows in Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo, Japan in March 2017. For the special occasion, the band wasrounded out by Mark Benquechea (drums) and Conrado Pesinato (guitars), both from the Graham Bonnet Band.In addition to this unique farewell performance caputred on audio and video, Alcatrazz raided the archives and added some unreleased bonus tracks taken from the original sessions recorded in 1985, including one song, "Emotion" with a young Steve Vai on guitar.Alcatrazz was formed in 1983 by former Rainbow and Michael Schenker Group vocalist Graham Bonnet along with Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea and made three studio albums in the 1980's. The band's debut album included a young Swedish guitarist, Yngwie Malmsteen and their second album, guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Alcatrazz split up in 1987after the release of their third abum, "Dangerous Games.

Released in July 1968, In Search of the Lost Chord is regarded by many to be the group's masterpiece. A concept album, concerning itself with the spiritual and philosophical concerns of the psychedelic era, the group eschewed the use of an orchestra, opting instead for the Mellotron (played by keyboardist Mike Pinder) and other exotic instrumentation, with which they experimented and played themselves, including flute, sitar, tabla and cello.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, The Moody Blues have been at the forefront of the UK's classic rock music scene for over forty years and have continued to be a mainstay of concert stages, recording studios and the airwaves to the present day. During their immensely successful career, they have sold, according to the band's files, more than 70 million albums worldwide and they have been the recipients of numerous prestigious awards.

When Steve Marriott left the Small Faces in 1969, the three remaining members brought in guitarist Ron Wood and lead singer Rod Stewart to complete the lineup and changed their name to the Faces, which was only appropriate since the group now only slightly resembled the mod-pop group of the past. Instead, the Faces were a rough, sloppy rock & roll band, able to pound out a rocker like "Had Me a Real Good Time," a blues ballad like "Tell Everyone," or a folk number like "Richmond" all in one album. While his voice didn't have the power of Stewart, bassist Ronnie Lane's songs were equally as impressive and eclectic. Wood's rhythm guitar had a warm, fat tone that was as influential and driving as Keith Richards' style.
Notorious for their hard-partying, boozy tours and ragged concerts, the Faces lived the rock & roll lifestyle to the extreme. When Stewart's solo career became more successful than the Faces, the band slowly became subservient to his personality; after their final studio album, Ooh La La, in 1973, Lane left the band. After a tour in 1974, the band called it quits. Wood joined the Rolling Stones, drummer Kenny Jones eventually became part of the Who, and keyboardist Ian McLagan became a sought-after supporting musician; Stewart became a superstar, although he never matched the simple charm of the Faces.

Consider The Best of Everything a companion piece to An American Treasure, the first posthumous Tom Petty compilation. Weighing in at four CDs, An American Treasure was designed as a gift to the devoted who were still in mourning. In contrast, The Best of Everything is aimed at the fan who didn't dig quite so deep, or perhaps to listeners who always liked Petty but never bothered to purchase an album. The Best of Everything relies on the hits that were largely absent on the box set but it takes a similar non-chronological approach to sequencing, a move that emphasizes Petty's consistency as both a songwriter and recording artist. This distinguishes The Best of Everything from 2000's Anthology: Through the Years, which also spanned two discs and contained four fewer songs than this 2019 set. Apart from that notable aesthetic choice, there is a considerable amount of overlap between the two double-disc collections -- namely, all the hits Petty had with and without the Heartbreakers between 1976 and 1993, when he switched from his longtime home of MCA to Warner. The Best of Everything trumps Anthology in that it also includes hits Petty had for Warner -- "You Don't Know How It Feels," "You Wreck Me," and "Walls" -- and extends to his strong last decade as a recording artist, adding two unreleased cuts for good measure (an alternate take of the title track which was heard in a shorter version on An American Treasure, the unheard "For Real," which is laid-back and nifty). All this adds up to the best overall overview of -- and perhaps introduction to -- Tom Petty assembled to date.

Bang, Bang introduced a hard rocker whose eclecticism was both impressive and unnervingly inconsistent. The covers of "Season of the Witch" and "Summertime Blues" are overlong and dated, but the frenetic version of Cher's "Bang, Bang" is inspired, and the rendition of Gene Pitney's "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart" shows his poppier roots. Over half of the material was penned by Reid, and while these compositions are sometimes generic, late-'60s hard rockers, he also shows a facility for Donavonesque folk-rock "("Sweater"") and impressive soul-rock vocalizing ("When I Get Home"). Arista had made it clear they would not accept any concept albums from the Kinks, and Sleepwalker, their first effort for the label, makes good on the band's promise. Comprised entirely of glossy arena rockers and power ballads, the album is more of a stylistic exercise than a collection of first-rate songs. Ray Davies contributed a handful of fairly strong songs, highlighted by the exceptional "Juke Box Music," which sees him in a shockingly resigned frame of mind, claiming that rock & roll is just rock & roll, and nothing more. Unfortunately, he chose to illustrate that fact by loading the rest of Sleepwalker with competent but undistinguished mainstream rock. While that might have made the album a hit at the time, its processed sound and weak songs sound dated today, especially compared to the lively arena rock the Kinks later released. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

German band RPWL are into their third decade as an active band now, still going on strong and continuing to develop their accessible and melodic approach to the art of progressive rock. "Tales From Outer Space" is their ninth studio album, and will be released in March 2019 through German label Gentle Art of Music: A label the band set up a few years back to release their own music as well as albums by other artists.
RPWL started out as a Pink Floyd cover band, and while they have developed quite a bit over the years remnants of that sound are still a part of the music they create today. There are numerous key differences though, and for starters RPWL as of 2019 isn't as dark as far in terms of mood and atmosphere. Where the most popular varieties of Pink Floyd can be both dark and borderline oppressive, RPWL appears to favor melancholic moods for starters.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Journey return to Japan for a very special concert filmed at Budokan, the legendary arena in Tokyo. This concert film captures the iconic rock band recreating their legendary albums Escape and Frontiers, in an explosive rare performance.

The project retraces a pair of studio albums from Journey's commercial zenith. Escape, which was released in 1981, sold a band-best 9 million copies in the U.S. Frontiers, the 1983 follow-up, went six-times platinum. Half of their 12 total Top 20 songs are from this era alone.
