The first two discs are dedicated to Chicago's headlining performance at the Isle of Wight Festival on August 28, 1970. It's a snapshot of the band on the verge of superstardom and captures them in top form, playing songs from their first two albums - "Beginnings" and "Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon" - as well as "Mother" from their third album, which was unreleased at the time. The other two headliners on this 3-day festival were The Doors and Jimi Hendrix.

The remaining discs include live performances selected from six decades, starting with a trio of songs recorded in Paris in 1969: "Poem For The People," "25 Or 6 To 4" and "Liberation." Other highlights include deep tracks like "A Hit By Varese" (1973), "Takin' It On Uptown" (1977) and "Forever" (1987), in addition to songs from Chicago's 1994 big band tour: "In The Mood" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore."

Led Zeppelin continue their reissue campaign with a new edition of their celebrated live album How The West Was Won, originally released in 2003, featuring newly remastered audio, which was done under the supervision of Jimmy Page.HOW THE WEST WAS WON highlights the best performances from Led Zeppelin's legendary concerts at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25 and 27, 1972. Melded together and sequenced to replicate a single concert from beginning to end, it captures the band at the height of its formidable powers. Standouts include a 25-plus minute version of "Dazed And Confused" and a 21-minute medley based around "Whole Lotta Love." The performances also capture the band introducing songs from its then-unreleased album Houses Of The Holy, which would be released nine months later.

Changestwobowie, the follow-up to 1976's Changesonebowie, was released as David Bowie's RCA contract entered its final months, and a certain rancor began to permeate the relationship. The label did not even consult the star over the makeup of this collection, and the result is a strangely disjointed ragbag of tracks scraping through the past decade with little regard for either continuity or, perhaps surprisingly, the hits. Any cohesion that might be detected, then, tends to be in the eye of the beholder, although there's no denying that, with songs the quality of "Aladdin Sane" and "Oh You Pretty Things" onboard, there should be little room for rubbish. As with Changesonebowie, RCA appealed to collectors via the inclusion of one non-LP cut, in this case the 1975-era remake of "John, I'm Only Dancing" -- long legendary as an outtake, a single had finally appeared in 1979. Further attention was garnered after "Wild Is the Wind" was lifted as a single. With Bowie agreeing to cut a very striking promotional video to accompany it, this most un-Top 30-like ballad reached number 24 in the U.K.

Once again, she assembled some of the finest session musicians from the Big Apple to animate her intimately sensitive sonic portraits and caricatures. Although Ian would not surpass the universality of "At Seventeen," much of this disc continues the theme and moods expressed as far back as Stars (1974). Ian's advanced folk sensibilities are emotional progressions away from the weepy and introspective nature heard from her mid-'70s singer/songwriter contemporaries. Part of Ian's enticement is the marriage between achingly beautiful melodies and thoroughly personalized lyrics.

This is Janis Ian's second album from her re-emergence in the early to mid-'70s as one of the genre's most inspired and original singer/songwriters. While this title houses Ian's biggest international hit, the confessional "At Seventeen," the entire effort combines her honest and confessional lyrics with an equally engaging blend of pop/rock and definite jazz and blues. She assembled much of the same ensemble that had worked on her previous long-player, Stars (1975), and much of the material retains the same warmth and intimacy in both her craft as well as the presentation. Unlike the more somber and introverted tracks that dominate Between the Lines (1975), the disc commences with a prime example of Ian's infectious coziness on the light and airy "When the Party's Over."

Singer/songwriter Janis Ian followed up her understated masterwork Aftertones (1976) with this long-player, which includes some equally engaging and varied material. Although she'd eventually return to using studio heavies for the remainder of her '70s and early-'80s output, Miracle Row (1977) prominently features Ian's touring band, which highlights the respective talents of Claire Bay (vocals), and a power trio of Jeff Layton (bass/horns/horn arrangements), Stu Woods (bass), and Barry Lazarowitz (drums/percussion). Each of the musicians were themselves recording session stalwarts and had interacted with the artist in various capacities for several years. Never one to shy away from controversial or blatant social observations, "Party Lights" is one of Ian's more personal exposes, dealing with the drug-fuelled Jekyll and Hyde decadence of the mid-to-late '70s. The melody is penetrating with a sense of foreboding drama, which is evident musically as well as lyrically. "Miracle Row"/ "Maria" adopts a lilting tropical air behind some of Ian's most affective contributions on the album and deal, although somewhat obliquely, with her own sexuality.

When Janis lan's self-titled 1978 album failed to crack the Top 100, it was clear that changes were in order. Here, she turns to producer Ron Frangipane and a surprising songwriting partner, Euro-disco maven Giorgio Moroder, who brings in his dance tracks for "Fly Too High," which was intended for the motion picture Foxes. More appropriately, Ian also pairs with Albert Hammond for the leadoff track, "The Other Side of the Sun." Even on her own, however, she is attempting a more timely pop style: "Memories" is as much of a disco cut as the Moroder one. That makes the album more engaging on the surface than her recent releases, but less compelling. As a commercial move, Night Rains failed to chart in the US, but was an international best seller.

In Through the Out Door is the eighth studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin and their last album to be released during their career. It was recorded over a three-week period in November and December 1978 at ABBA's Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, and released by Swan Song Records on 15 August 1979. In Through the Out Door was the last released by the band before the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980.

Returning to Gentle Giant's fourth album after any kind of lengthy absence, it's astonishing just how little Octopus has dated. Often written off at the time as a pale reflection of the truly gargantuan steps being taken by the likes of Jethro Tull and Barclay James Harvest, the band's closest relatives in the tangled skein of period prog, Gentle Giant often seemed more notable for its album art than its music. Octopus, however, marries the two seamlessly, with the cover speaking for itself, of course. And the mood continues within, the deliciously convoluted opening "The Advent of Panurge" itself riding waves of sonic tentacles as Gary Green's guitar shrieks short but so effective bursts around the thundering bass and, occasionally, churchy organ. Against the pulsating volume of the album's heavier tracks -- "Panurge" is joined by "A Cry for Everyone" -- the band's excursions into less excitable territory are never less than captivating. Twiddly though they are, the sometimes a cappella "Knots," the lilting "Dog's Life," and the Yes-with-fiddles-ish "Raconteur Troubadour" all have moments of sublime sweetness, while the instrumental "The Boys in the Band" is a succession of quirky showcases for, indeed, all the boys. Occasionally arrangements do get overly cluttered -- with each of the six bandmembers doubling up on at least three different instruments, there's a distinct sense of overdubs for overdubbing's sake. Follow the key instruments alone, however, and the soundscapes not only make perfect sense, but so do the flourishes and intrusions that rattle around. And the end result is an album that has withstood the test of time a lot better than anyone might have expected

'Complete Albums Collection' box set of Canadian-American rock band Buffalo Springfield output released on vinyl and CD at the end of June.

Although the band, which featured Neil Young and Stephen Stills, only issued three studio albums, the Complete Albums Collection will be a five-disc set since it includes 1966's self-titled debut in both stereo and the band-preferred dedicated mono mix (which Young and Stills insisted on, after disliking the original stereo mix). The follow-up - 1967's Buffalo Springfield Again - is also included in both dedicated mono and stereo. 1968's Last Time Around (stereo only) completes this box.

Quiet Riot broke a lot of rock and roll history book records and made quite a bit of Noize with their mega-platinum smash Metal Health album in 1983. Originally, LUCIFER formed in Berlin back in 2014 consisting of singer Johanna Sadonis and members from Cathedral, Angel Witch and Ladytron. Be Yourself Tonight is the fifth album released by Eurythmics, released in 1985. It is Eurythmics' best-selling studio album. Founded in 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt, Within Temptation emerged onto the international metal scene and eluded genre definition. Equal parts gothic metal, symphonic rock, anarchic pop, melodic metal, and atmospheric progressive rock.
Within Temptation's affection for orchestral and symphonic arrangements led to "Black Symphony," an ambitious, February 2008 performance at the Ahoy Arena in South Holland that featured the Metropole Orchestra, the 20-voice Pa'dam Choir, a massive video screen that spanned the width of the stage, live stuntwork, blaring pyrotechnic effectsf. Bruce Springsteen is a man of many concerts. While it's almost impossible to listen to each and every one of his shows - even if there are many fans out there who try - there are a considerable number of bootlegs every self-respecting fan must own. The New Jersey bard's July 7th, 1978 performance at Los Angeles' Roxy is one such bootleg.
However, there's never been an official release. Now, Springsteen has blown out the candles by dropping the full four-hour performance, newly mixed and remastered, through his ongoing archival live series.
What makes the gig so special, among many highlights, is that it was recorded to an intimate 500-capacity crowd, only days after he performed at the Forum. The show saw the live debuts of "Point Blank" and "Independence Day" on piano solo, the complete version of "Backstreets" (containing the "Sad Eyes" interlude), and first-time covers of Sonny West, Buddy Holly, and Elvis Presley.
