• On the 31st December 2015 Motley Crue took to the stage of the Staples Center in their hometown of Los Angeles for their last ever live performance. It was the culmination of their Final Tour which had started in July 2014 and travelled around the world taking in North and South America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East.
• The band had signed a legally binding "cessation of touring" agreement that prevented them touring as Motley Crue beyond the end of 2015 and so this concert truly was "The End". Known for their over-the-top production, Motley Crue did not disappoint for their last show ever on New Year's Eve: from massive, cutting-edge pyro, including Nikki Sixx's bass guitar spitting fire over 30ft. into the air, and Tommy Lee's "Cruecifly" drum roller coaster, amongst many other spectacular elements. Lead singer, Vince Neil, delivered an emotional, "thank you" speech to the audience, while the band supplied next-level, high-octane fueled energy, ringing in the New Year on stage with thousands of balloons raining down on the crowd. The grand finale of the show included a blow-out performance of their hit single, "Kickstart My Heart" with Nikki Sixx and Vince Neil floating above the audience in far-reaching "cherry-pickers." Leaving fans in tears, the show concluded with an emotional encore rendition of "Home Sweet Home" from the second stage riser in the center of the audience.

• Good Friday - 25 March 2016 - is a date that will go down in both Cuban and Rock 'n' Roll history. The Rolling Stones became the first rock band to play a massive free outdoor concert to hundreds of thousands in Havana. This historic concert was captured by award winning film director Paul Dugdale and the result is: 'HAVANA MOON' - The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba out on DVD
• The British rockers free show attracted a million people in the country's capital city in the same week as President Obama became the first US President to visit Cuba in 88 years. TV News Networks around the world reported that Obama was 'the warm up act' for The Rolling Stones. As the Stones took to the stage under a perfect 'Havana Moon' in front of an ecstatic crowd everyone knew that this was a life changing cultural moment for a country on the brink of change. There was nothing that was going to come between the band and their eager fans including the Vatican in Rome who had objected to a big rock 'n' roll concert staged in Havana on a Good Friday.
• Mick Jagger welcomed the massive crowd: "Finally the times are changing, Cuba we are so happy to be here" and joked with his bandmates during the performance describing them as "the revolutionary Ronnie Wood, drummer Charlie Che Watts, and compadre Keith Richards".
• They played all the big hits including 'Jumpin' Jack Flash', 'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll', 'Paint It Black', 'Honky Tonk Women', 'Start Me Up', 'Brown Sugar', 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' and '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' in the two hour plus performance all captured here on their 'Havana Moon' DVD.
• As a Cuban Stones fan said, "Wow never, ever, ever did I think we would see this happen. Tonight has been a dream come true for me", while another said: "Simply fantastic - this is a moment I have been dreaming about for a really long time. I have just witnessed the most important concert in Cuba because this is The Rolling Stones."

Skylarking is the fourth in a series of remixed and expanded XTC albums. For many music fans, the band's Todd Rundgren produced 8th album is *the* classic XTC album, and therefore the one for which there has been the most demand for a 5.1 surround mix. The album has been remixed in both new stereo and 5.1 surround sound by Steven Wilson with input from Andy Partridge, and is fully approved by XTC.

Working with producer Todd Rundgren didn't necessarily bring XTC a sense of sonic cohesion -- after all, every record since English Settlement followed its own interior logic -- but it did help the group sharpen its focus, making Skylarking its tightest record since Drums and Wires. Ironically, Skylarking had little to do with new wave and everything to do with the lush, post-psychedelic pop of the Beatles and Beach Boys. Combining the charming pastoral feel of Mummer with the classicist English pop of The Big Express, XTC expand their signature sound by enhancing their intelligently melodic pop with graceful, lyrical arrangements and sweeping, detailed instrumentation. Rundgren may have devised the sequencing, helping the record feel like a song cycle even if it doesn't play like one, but what really impresses is the consistency and depth of Andy Partridge's and Colin Moulding's songs. Each song is a small gem, marrying sweet, catchy melodies to decidedly adult lyrical themes, from celebrations of love ("Grass") and marriage ("Big Day") to skepticism about maturation ("Earn Enough for Us") and religion ("Dear God"). Moulding's songs complement Partridge's songs better than before, and each writer is at a melodic and lyrical peak, which Rundgren helps convey with his supple production. The result is a pop masterpiece -- an album that has great ambitions and fulfills them with ease. The initial release of Skylarking didn't feature "Dear God," which was originally the B-side of "Grass." After "Dear God" became an unexpected hit, "Mermaid Smile" was pulled from the album so the hit single could be added.

}• Essentially a warm-up gig for the Grateful Dead's 50th anniversary shows, this double CD documents three sets of music performed by the surviving Grateful Dead members and a crew of fellow travelers. Ostensibly a tribute to one Jerome Garcia (1942-1995), this May 2015 show in Maryland's Merriweather Post Pavilion also celebrates the greater jam-band community, both musicians and audience, that keep the leading-averse bandleader's increasingly codified but mostly inquisitive spirit alive.
• Tribute shows, with their Teleprompter-abetted guest spots, rarely equal the real deal, and this one's no exception. It does have its moments, however, beginning with Phil Lesh and his Communion ensemble's show-opening "The Wheel/Uncle John's Band," 17 minutes so silky and sinuously tuned-in you can almost understand the bassist's decision to blow off the rest of the event. And much of the second set stands as a kind of fathers-and-sons testament, with Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann shepherding the Disco Biscuits and other third-generation improv-rockers through spirited renditions of Grateful Dead jam staples "Scarlet Begonias/I Know You Rider" and "Help on the Way"/"Slipknot"/"Franklin's Tower."
• Garcia's bluegrass buddy David Grisman ("Shady Grove"), New Orleans composer-pianist Allen Toussaint (Get Out of My Life, Woman"), and reggae icon Jimmy Cliff ("The Harder They Come") represent Garcia's various stylistic and cover enthusiasms. (Don Was led a crisp house band.) And Moe. ("Loser") and Widespread Panic ("Morning Dew") tackle their material with grace and gravitas befitting the uncompromising, decades-old jam masters they are.
• Whether joining Los Lobos for "Bertha," or winding things down with "Touch of Grey" and "Ripple," Bob Weir, judging by the DVD version of the show, looks vaguely uncomfortable throughout, even while performing like the wise old trooper he still is. Perhaps he's pondering Lesh's absence, or, even more conspicuously, that of lyricist Robert Hunter, who arguably brought as much to this music, this legacy, as did his writing partner. In any case, Weir knows there's always another gig coming up down the road, and the final Dear Jerry letter is yet to be delivered. --Richard Gehr, Rolling Stone

The latest album of Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY, »Prometheus, Symphonia Ignis Divinus«, was chosen to be the first studio album in music history to be remixed in Dolby Atmos. Renowned producer/mixing engineer Chris Heil (DAVID BOWIE, BRYAN ADAMS, SCORPIONS) mixed the entire masterpiece in Dolby Atmos - the mindblowing result will be submitted for the 2017 Grammy nominations. »Prometheus, The Dolby Atmos Experience + Cinematic And Live« will be released December, 9th via Nuclear Blast.
Luca Turilli, responsible for composition and orchestra- and choir-arrangements states: "The new Dolby Atmos sound fits perfectly with Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY music just as the RHAPSODY music - emotional, visionary and cinematic in its nature - is perfect to showcase the potential of an amazing technology destined to revolutionize the field of immersive audio's experience. But what actually is Dolby Atmos? Cinemas discovered this new format and integrated loud speakers in their ceilings to place the listener into an 'acoustic honeycomb?. "This novelty has now reached the home technology and we at Yamaha wanted to support the project of Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY with an audio-bluray-disc in Dolby Atmos", Michael Geise from Yamaha explains. "It's a very thrilling challenge and makes this release a vivid and new experience. And since we are always looking for new contents, the cooperation with Luca Turilli was a great idea for us. Dolby Atmos is already included in our receivers and the customer can immediately use it - but so far only few releases support this new format and usually it is only available for films, not for music blurays. But now it is and we created a medium that could easily bring instruments to life, without any artifical effects. We had the know-how to turn this performance into a real live experience with our loudspeakers, receivers and the new sound bar that brings the musicians almost right into everyone's living room!"
Producer and mixer Chris Heil found Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY almost by accident: "I heard excerpts from »Prometheus, Symphonia Ignis Divinus« in the studio right next to me and knew immediately that this was the material I wanted to use to showcase the potential of Dolby Atmos to the world. This kind of music is made for this format with its combination of band,orchestra and choir arrangements. I called Luca Turilli immediately to ask his permission to use the material and he immediately agreed.
The result of their two months long cooperation is a vivid combination of metal, filmscore and a wide variety of ethnic elements. "It is incredibly entertaining and inspiring to listen to the result. It's the first album in my 36-year career where I had to leave longer pauses between the tracks because you really need time to digest that bombastic sound. It's mindblowing," states Chris Heil. And Luca Turilli agrees: "Dolby Atmos will bring a revolution to the world of films and music and allows you to enjoy every release even more!"

• Last year marked the 25th anniversary of Extreme's classic multi-Platinum, Grammy nominated PORNOGRAFFITTI, the definitive album of the band's career. To mark the anniversary, Loud & Proud Records releases PORNOGRAFFITTI LIVE 25 / METAL MELTDOWN, a 3-disc set as part of their four-part Metal Meltdown DVD series. The concert film captures the the Boston band performing PORNOGRAFFITTI in its entirety. The BluRay/DVD/CD release also features a documentary that takes fans through Extreme's story, archive footage and a photo gallery. The band achieved their greatest success with their 1990 album PORNOGRAFFITTI, which peaked at #10 on the Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, and was certified multi-Platinum. Musically, PORNOGRAFFITTI is dominated by blistering guitar riffs, often with funky, syncopated timing, and incendiary, high-speed rock/metal solos. The record garnered Bettencourt widespread admiration from rock guitar enthusiasts and provided continued exposure in leading guitar publications. But it was the acoustic ballad single,"More Than Words", that reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. The subsequent single, "Hole Hearted", another acoustic track, was also successful, rising to #4 on the same chart. • In April 1974, DEEP PURPLE's Mk III lineup consisting of David Coverdale (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Glenn Hughes (bass and vocals), Jon Lord (organ) and Ian Paice (drums) had just released the album "Burn" when they climbed the stage of the soon to become legendary festival California Jam. The phenomenon now known as "arena rock" was born there - and DEEP PURPLE were at its epicenter. In many ways, the California Jam was the equivalent of the Woodstock festival to a burgeoning generation of hard rock and heavy metal fans.
• The Jam took place at the Ontario Motor Speedway in Ontario, California on a hot and sunny spring day on April 6, 1974. The event attracted an enormous crowd of a quarter-million people and represented a baptism of fire - in more ways than one - for PURPLE's "new boys," frontman David Coverdale and bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, who in '73 had replaced Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, respectively, to usher in the band's so-called Mk III lineup.
• DEEP PURPLE were literally on fire during that time: due to some behind the scenes "feud" with the promoter, DEEP PURPLE's performance was full of fire and fury - no wonder their opening song was "Burn". At the climax of the show, a still-furious Blackmore trashed several of his guitars and chucked his amplifiers off the edge of the stage. Blackmore also struck one of the cameras with his guitar. The chaos continued when a massive onstage detonation created an out-of-control fireball - pun most definitely intended.
• In the midst of all this mayhem there was also some awesome music being created, PURPLE's set focused strongly on their then-current "Burn" album, the first by the Mk III line-up and only included a handful of songs from the previous Mk II era.
• Even in 2016, Glenn Hughes has very vivid memories of DEEP PURPLE's tempestuous California Jam performance. "It was a moment in time for us all," he said. "It was a great statement of what rock was all about in that pre-MTV era. It's also a great testament to the Mk III line-up. It's big, it's grandiose, it's funky, it's rock... it's Mk III in all its glory."

Metallica were easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s and '90s. Responsible for bringing the genre back to earth, the bandmates looked and talked like they were from the street, shunning the usual rock star games of metal musicians during the mid-'80s pop-metal renaissance. Metallica also expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own sake, but to enhance their intricately structured compositions. The release of 1983's Kill 'Em All marked the beginning of the legitimization of heavy metal's underground, bringing new complexity and depth to thrash metal. With each album, the band's playing and writing improved; James Hetfield developed a signature rhythm playing that matched his growl, while lead guitarist Kirk Hammett became one of the most copied guitarists in metal. To complete the package, Lars Ulrich's thunderous (yet complex) drumming clicked in perfectly with Cliff Burton's innovative bass playing.
After releasing their masterpiece Master of Puppets in 1986, tragedy struck the band when their tour bus crashed while traveling in Sweden. Burton died in the accident. When the band decided to continue, Jason Newsted was chosen to replace Burton; two years later, the band released the conceptually ambitious ...And Justice for All, which hit the Top Ten without any radio play and very little support from MTV. But Metallica completely crossed over into the mainstream with 1991's Metallica, a self-titled effort that found the band trading in its long compositions for more concise song structures. Peppered with hits like "Wherever I May Roam" and "Enter Sandman," it resulted in a number one album that sold over seven million copies in the U.S. alone. To support the record, Metallica launched a long tour that kept the musicians on the road for nearly two years.
By the '90s, Metallica had changed the rules for all heavy metal bands; they were the leaders of the genre, respected not only by headbangers, but by mainstream record buyers and critics. No other heavy metal band has ever been able to pull off such a feat. However, the group lost a portion of its core audience with its long-awaited follow-up to Metallica, 1996's Load. The album moved the band toward alternative rock in terms of image -- the bandmembers cut their hair and had their picture taken by Anton Corbijn. Although the album was a hit upon its summer release, entering the charts at number one and selling three million copies within two months, certain members of the Metallica fan base complained about the shift in image, as well as the group's decision to headline the sixth Lollapalooza. Re-Load, which combined new material with songs left off the original Load record, appeared in 1997; despite poor reviews, it sold at a typically brisk pace and spun off several successful singles, including "Fuel" and "The Memory Remains." Garage Inc., a double-disc collection of B-sides, rarities, and newly recorded covers, followed in 1998. Metallica's take on Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" helped maintain their presence in the charts, and the band continued its flood of product with 1999's S&M, which documented a live concert with the San Francisco Symphony. It debuted at number two, reconfirming the group's immense popularity.
In January 2001, bassist Jason Newsted announced his amicable departure from the band. Shortly after the band appeared at the ESPN Awards in April of the same year, Hetfield, Hammett, and Ulrich entered the recording studio to begin work on their next album, with producer Bob Rock lined up to handle bass duties for the sessions (meanwhile, rumors swirled of former Ozzy Osbourne/Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez being considered for the vacated position). That same summer, the band's recording sessions (and all other band-related matters) were put on hold as Hetfield entered an undisclosed rehab facility for alcoholism and other addictions. He completed treatment and rejoined Metallica as they headed back into the studio in 2002 to record St. Anger, which was released in mid-2003.
The recording of St. Anger was capped with the search for a permanent replacement for Newsted. After a long audition process, former Ozzy Osbourne/Suicidal Tendencies bass player Robert Trujillo was selected and joined Metallica for their 2003-2004 world tour.
Death Magnetic spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard charts and the group supported it with an extensive international tour that included a festival gig with Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. In 2012 Metallica launched their own label, Blackened, which would be distributed by Universal; then, the following year, they announced the release of their second motion picture, Through the Never, which combined spectacular concert footage of them blasting through gems from their back catalog with a surreal road-trip odyssey starring Dane DeHaan. The film and its accompanying soundtrack album were released in September 2013. Over the next few years, Metallica played the occasional high-profile concert as they worked on a new studio album. In 2016, the band launched a series of expanded reissues, starting with deluxe editions of Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning.

Renowned producer/mixing engineer Chris Heil (DAVID BOWIE, BRYAN ADAMS, SCORPIONS) mixed the entire masterpiece in Dolby Atmos - the mindblowing result will be submitted for the 2017 Grammy nominations. »Prometheus, The Dolby Atmos Experience + Cinematic And Live« will be released December, 9th via Nuclear Blast.
Luca Turilli, responsible for composition and orchestra- and choir-arrangements states: "The new Dolby Atmos sound fits perfectly with Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY music just as the RHAPSODY music - emotional, visionary and cinematic in its nature - is perfect to showcase the potential of an amazing technology destined to revolutionize the field of immersive audio's experience. But what actually is Dolby Atmos? Cinemas discovered this new format and integrated loud speakers in their ceilings to place the listener into an 'acoustic honeycomb?. "This novelty has now reached the home technology and we at Yamaha wanted to support the project of Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY with an audio-bluray-disc in Dolby Atmos", Michael Geise from Yamaha explains. "It's a very thrilling challenge and makes this release a vivid and new experience. And since we are always looking for new contents, the cooperation with Luca Turilli was a great idea for us. Dolby Atmos is already included in our receivers and the customer can immediately use it - but so far only few releases support this new format and usually it is only available for films, not for music blurays. But now it is and we created a medium that could easily bring instruments to life, without any artifical effects. We had the know-how to turn this performance into a real live experience with our loudspeakers, receivers and the new sound bar that brings the musicians almost right into everyone's living room!"
Producer and mixer Chris Heil found Luca Turilli's RHAPSODY almost by accident: "I heard excerpts from »Prometheus, Symphonia Ignis Divinus« in the studio right next to me and knew immediately that this was the material I wanted to use to showcase the potential of Dolby Atmos to the world. This kind of music is made for this format with its combination of band,orchestra and choir arrangements. I called Luca Turilli immediately to ask his permission to use the material and he immediately agreed.
The result of their two months long cooperation is a vivid combination of metal, filmscore and a wide variety of ethnic elements. "It is incredibly entertaining and inspiring to listen to the result. It's the first album in my 36-year career where I had to leave longer pauses between the tracks because you really need time to digest that bombastic sound. It's mindblowing," states Chris Heil. And Luca Turilli agrees: "Dolby Atmos will bring a revolution to the world of films and music and allows you to enjoy every release even more!"

It may have been the fifth time the band had put on such a spectacle in Port Zelande, but in a whole host of ways for the 2015 edition, the bar had well and truly been raised. This time, our brief extended beyond 'just' the concert film coverage, to include the creation of content for the concert screens, as well as producing and filming a feature documentary about the band and this unique event. Working in close partnership with the band's lead singer Steve Hogarth, and their graphic design genius, Simon Ward we orchestrated a green screen shoot, and a more traditional 'live action' shoot which became the backdrop for the Saturday night rendition of the band's well-loved 'Marbles' album. We also created screen content for the Sunday night too - weaving together elements of archive stills and footage alongside animated album artwork. We also 'upped the ante' when it came to the concert films themselves. All three nights were filmed for release - promising an amazing product with the concerts themselves, plus the opportunity to create some top quality bonus material to set the live gigs in context. We handpicked and worked with an incredible and talented crew, which has made sure that concert footage we captured this year has surpassed all others. The three-concert film box set is slated for release later in 2016, to follow the release for the bands upcoming album, earlier in 2016. But three concerts filmed back-to-back wasn't enough!
• Marillion also commissioned us to develop and film a feature documentary; A behind the scenes look at this amazing event from the bands' eye view. A unique insight into a band that have been doing their thing for 35 years, and who are still breaking new ground. 'Unconventional' was released in November 2015, with a marketing campaign consisting of two teaser trailers, a release trailer and 4 sizzle shorts released on social media the month following the release to really engage with Marillion's enthusiastic fan base. You could say that this project is multi-faceted . an exercise in project management on a pretty big scale, across a multitude of 'mini projects', all culminating in an unforgettable three nights of music with the most incredible bunch of devoted fans. The magic still very much appeared to be there, both in the bands performance and the crowd's reactions to them. There were some very special moments, clearly treasured by those who attended. We look forward to being able to share them (and much else besides), and play our part in bringing Marillion and what they do closer to the wider audience that the band so richly deserves.

13 is the 19th studio album by British rock band Black Sabbath. The album was released on 10 June 2013 in Europe and 11 June 2013 in North America, via Vertigo Records and Republic Records in the US, and via Vertigo Records worldwide. It is the first studio album released by Black Sabbath since Forbidden (1995), and their first studio recording with original singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler since the live album Reunion (1998), which contained two new studio tracks. It is also the first studio album with Osbourne since Never Say Die! (1978), and with Butler since Cross Purposes (1994). This is also the first Black Sabbath studio album since Never Say Die! not to feature longtime keyboardist Geoff Nicholls, and the first since The Eternal Idol (1987) on Vertigo (outside the US and Canada).
Black Sabbath's original line-up first began work on a new studio album in 2001 with producer Rick Rubin. The album's development was delayed because Osbourne was in the middle of finishing his eighth solo album Down to Earth, and the rest of the band members eventually went on to pursue other projects, including GZR and Heaven & Hell. When Black Sabbath announced the end of their hiatus on 11 November 2011, the band announced that they would restart work on a new album with Rubin. In addition to original members Osbourne, Butler and guitarist Tony Iommi, they were joined at the recording sessions by drummer Brad Wilk, of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, following original drummer Bill Ward's decision to not participate in the reunion, due to a "contractual dispute".

One of rock n roll s most venerated guitar Gods, Uli Jon Roth, will be releasing a very special live performance from the Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo, Japan on December 2nd 2016 through UDR Music, titled Tokyo Tapes Revisited - Live In Japan. The performance is a celebration of Roth s classic work with Scorpions, and was recorded on February 20th 2015 at the same venue as the band s classic 1978 live album Tokyo Tapes. Roth was a founding member of Scorpions in 1973 before leaving to pursue a solo career in 1978 with his own Electric Sun. A landmark release in prog rock history, The Alan Parsons Project's debut album, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination, remains not only one of the most ambitious releases from prog's mid-70s golden age, but also one of the finest examples of a musician putting literature to music.
Released in 1976, Tales Of Mystery And Imagination saw Alan Parsons and long-time collaborator Eric Woolfson bring to life some of the most enduring works by pioneering gothic poet and short-story writer Edgar Allan Poe. Working with a host of musicians, among them legendary God Of Hellfire, Arthur Brown, Hollies singer and guitarist Terry Sylvester, the bands Ambrosia and Pilot, plus keyboardist Francis Monkman (of cult 70s outfit Curved Air), they also managed to snag narration by legendary actor, director, writer and producer Orson Welles - a man with no little experience in bringing works of literature to life in the studio.
For its 40th anniversary, Tales. is being celebrated with a multi-disc box set, made with the full co-operation of Alan Parsons and the family of the late Eric Woolfson. As well as boasting over 70 minutes' worth of previously unreleased bonus material, the 3CD+Blu-ray+2LP box set also includes the original 1976 album mix (half-speed mastered for vinyl at Abbey Road by leading half-speed mastering expert Miles Showell), Alan Parsons' 1987 remix, and, for the first time ever, a high-definition 5.1 surround sound mix on Blu-ray, mastered in 2016 by Parsons himself. Rounded out with a 60-page coffee-table book boasting rare photos and new interviews, a poster, replica 1976 press kit and "taped man" sticker, this lavish package does full justice to the legacy of Parsons' and Woolfson's stunning work.
