Paul Crook, Meat Loaf's longtime producer, music director, and guitarist, recently announced the frelease of Paradise Found: Bat Out of Hell Reignited, a new LP helmed by Meat Loaf's official band, The Neverland Express - featuring alumni Justin Avery, (keyboard, vocals), Tom Brislin (orchestration), Steve Buslowe (bass), Paul Crook (guitar), Randy Flowers (guitar), David Luther (saxophone), Lyssa Lynne ("Stop Right There!"), John Miceli (drums) - plus American Idol Season 13 winner Caleb Johnson providing lead vocals. The album, out through Deko Entertainment and Crook's label, Crooked Media, LLC, shared on January 27.

Paradise Found reimagines the sound, passion, and fury of the original Bat Out of Hell, the 1977 release by Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman, which remains in the top five best-selling albums of all time. It includes all seven songs performed in their original order. The song arrangements have developed over decades of touring and now the listener can hear these re-envisioned versions.

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced their new album Atum (pronounced "autumn"), a 33-song rock opera in three acts that's billed as the sequel to 1995's Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and 2000's Machina/Machine of God.

Each act of Atum will be released every 11 weeks, with Act 1 l on November 15; Act 2 will follow on January 31, with Act 3 finishing the collection on April 21. A special edition box set featuring the album's 33 songs plus 10 additional bonus tracks will also be released on April 21.

Welsh five-piece King Kraken released their debut album on the 27th of January and for a band's first major release this is unbelievable, their sound is awesome and they are so tight it just defies logic that this is their first offering.

The opening refrains of "Devil's Night" tell you that you are in for a wild ride, a relentless drum and bass beat with monster riffs underscore the band's power, Donoghue's gravelly vocals are immense and only get better as the album progresses. "Bastard Liar" has a faster more thrashy feel, coming out of the traps like a freight train it hits right between the eyes, there are shades of Machine Head and even Slayer-style riffs that make this track a banger and one of the best in here and as for Donoghue's vocals; take it to another level. "Green Terror" and "Veins" change things up a bit with a more groove-heavy vibe, a lá Pantera with a Corrosion Of Conformity twist, managing to keep the power and heaviness, "Green Terror" has crunching riffs with a thumping drum beat and a mega solo while "Veins" has a killer funky beat and is faster, combined with Donoghue spitting out the lyrics like nobody's business this is guaranteed to get you moving, a cracking solo at the backend of the track is the icing on top.

"Haddonfield 78" comes in really heavy with chugging riffs, a banging drum beat and a rumbling bass line, Donoghue's vocals are very reminiscent of Randy Blythe and the verse midway through has a definite Lamb Of God feel and that is no bad thing, another savage solo from Healy gives the track that little extra spice. "Man-Made Monster" steals the show for me; the intense interplay between the drums and guitars kicks the tempo big time while Donoghue runs the vocal range showcasing his obvious talent and a robust set of lungs, Healy's solo is masterful considering all the chaos going on around him, track of the album. "Walls Of Jericho" is another heavy groovers that go up and down like a rollercoaster from the slow grinding opening to the uptempo midsection and backs down again at the end of the track all the while sandwiched in between some massive riffs and a couple of tasty solos, great vocals once again, a true headbanging track. "Proctors Ledge" is a stoner's dream; down tuned long drawn out riffs and buzzing bass make this one heavy badass track, the tempo picks up midway through and it gives you more of a hard rock feel with an absolute scorcher of a solo from Healy before it drops back down to the sludgy stoner groove that plays the track out to a close. "Chaos Engine" is a heavy metal banger if ever there was, full throttle and in your face with punchy drums and chugging riffs that will melt your brain, Donoghue's vocals are off the hook as he roars his way through the track, this pushes "Man-Made Monster" for track of the album. "Castle Of Bone" brings proceedings to a close in much the same way as it started with a massive wall of sound, kicking rhythm and a round groove monster, there is not much more that needs saying, a beast of a track.

The production along with the content on this album is outstanding and it has to be a contender for album of the year even if it is only January

Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, FREEROAD formed in 2018 with only the goal of making music for the love of making music. The moniker FREEROAD was thus chosen to symbolize the idea that there's no boundaries in music; genres don't really matter, as long as they're keeping the essence of old-school rock 'n' roll. For FREEROAD, that essence is largely built up on the classic sounds of the '70s and '80s - be it UFO, Thin Lizzy, Yes, Rush, or Jeff Beck - as well as the early rocking sounds of the NWOBHM.

Armed with such a noble 'n' rustic foundation, FREEROAD proceed to make their bolt-from-the-blue first statement with Do What You Feel! Ever aptly titled, Do What You Feel! indeed finds the quartet ranging those aforementioned sounds and styles with almost alchemical ease. Heartfelt, honest, and homemade, FREEROAD's hot-rockin' harkens to an era where immediately immersive hooks, loose-yet-locked-in ensemble playing, and earthy dynamics were king. Thus, it's not disingenuous to suggest that there's a certain déjà vu here; you might've heard these songs before, in a nostalgic alternate reality or two removed, but they had yet to be written. Such is the wondrous and endearingly celebratory magick at work across Do What You Feel!, as each of these nine anthems-in-waiting work their spell: each one different than the last, but definitely all the work of the same band. Again, the album experience as one that's narrative in its variety - truly, FREEROAD are a band out of time.

Pleasures that are simple but utterly sublime, there's no over-thinking needed or fancy words necessary when approaching the gritty glory of FREEROAD. Just like its cover cheekily displays, you'll feel compelled to Do What You Feel!

Digitally re-mastered edition of the British Pomp Rock band's 1974 sophomore album. Queen II is the real beginning of Queen as we know it. It's the first time we hear the multi layered overdubs, the harmonies, the varied musical styles (ballads, Folk, Blues, Metal, Pop and Rock, it's all there). It also includes their first hit single 'Seven Seas of Rhye', which led to the first of many iconic performances on Top of the Pops. The band recorded Queen II in just over a month in 1973 ahead of it's release in 1974. The album cover was shot by legendary photographer Mick Rock and inspired by a Marlene Dietrich portrait. The image was later brought to life in the revolutionary 'Bohemian Rhapsody' video. Island.

"In one regard, Queen II does indeed provide more of the same thing as on the band's debut. Certainly, of all the other albums in Queen's catalog it bears the closest resemblance to its immediate predecessor, particularly in its lean, hard attack and in how it has only one song that is well-known to listeners outside of their hardcore cult: in this case, it's "Seven Seas of Rhye," which is itself more elliptical than "Keep Yourself Alive," the big song from the debut. But these similarities are superficial and Queen II is a very different beast than its predecessor, an album that is richer, darker, and weirder, an album that finds Queen growing as a band by leaps and bounds. There is still a surplus of ideas, but their energies are better focused this time around, channeled into a over-inflated, pompous rock that could be called prog if it wasn't so heavy. Even with all the queens and ogres that populate Queen II, this never feels as fantastical as Genesis or Uriah Heep, and that's because Queen hits hard as a rock band here, where even the blasts of vocal harmonies feel like power chords, no matter how florid they are. Besides, these grandiose harmonies, along with the handful of wistful ballads here, are overshadowed by the onslaught of guitars and pummeling rhythms that give Queen II majesty and menace. Queen is coiled, tense, and vicious here, delivering on their inherent sense of drama, and that gives Queen II real power as music, as well as a true cohesion. The one thing that is missing is any semblance of a pop sensibility, even when they flirt with a mock Phil Spector production on "Funny How Love Is." This hits like heavy metal but has an art-rock sensibility through and through, which also means that it has no true hook in for those who don't want to succumb to Queen's world. But that kind of insular drama is quite alluring in its own right, which is why Queen II is one of the favorites of their hardcore fans. At the very least, it illustrates that Queen is starting to pull all their ambitions and influences into a signature sound, and it's quite powerful in that regard." (Stephen Thomas Erlewine, AMG)

Multi-Emmy award winning guitarist/composer Brian Tarquin is the mastermind behind it, featuring such iconic guitarists as Joe Satriani, Vinnie Moore (UFO), Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (Guns N' Roses), Alex De Rosso (Dokken), Travis Stever (Coheed & Cambria), Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint), Johannes Weik (Son of a Bach), Gerald Gradwohl (Tangerine Dream), Chris Haskett (Henry Rollins Band). Brian Tarquin, a one-man army, composed, produced and performed all guitar melodies, solos, bass, rhythm guitars and used session drummer Reggie Pryor.

The album features exclusive songs inspired by those military soldiers who have fought for their country. Partial proceeds from the sales go to the Fisher House Foundation, who supplies housing to veterans' families while they are hospitalized.

Doomsday Outlaw return with their third studio album Damaged Goods.

As Doomsday Outlaw began work on this album, they knew they wanted to step up to the next level and deliver on the promise of their previous albums, keeping the heaviness and the soulful vocals, and turbo-charging it all with some retro rock feelgood vibes. Channelling Skynyrd, Aerosmith and The Faces through their signature heavy blues stomp, the band worked to expand their signature sound.

Working with Chris D'Adda at Vale Studios (Temples, Deaf Havana) and Dave Draper (The Wildhearts), to put them through their paces, the band have pulled together their best work yet.

Lyrically, the album is a very personal insight into vocalist Phil Poole's life and motivations. Speaking about Damaged Goods, vocalist Phil Poole said: "This album is a continuation of the stories of my life - played out for all to see, filled with heartbreak and redemption. My own version of therapy, Damaged Goods is the latest chapter in my life."

Bassist Indy added: "It's been a hard slog these last couple of years with Covid cutting short our European adventures, and generally waiting for live music to see the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, but these new tunes have kept us going. The excellent response we've had to playing the songs live has been great to see, and we can't wait to get everything out there for people to hear."

In 1972, the Stooges were near the point of collapse when David Bowie's management team, MainMan, took a chance on the band at Bowie's behest. By this point, guitarist Ron Asheton and bassist Dave Alexander had been edged out of the picture, and James Williamson had signed on as Iggy's new guitar mangler; Asheton rejoined the band shortly before recording commenced on Raw Power, but was forced to play second fiddle to Williamson as bassist. By most accounts, tensions were high during the recording of Raw Power, and the album sounds like the work of a band on its last legs -- though rather than grinding to a halt, Iggy & the Stooges appeared ready to explode like an ammunition dump. From a technical standpoint, Williamson was a more gifted guitar player than Asheton (not that that was ever the point), but his sheets of metallic fuzz were still more basic (and punishing) than what anyone was used to in 1973, while Ron Asheton played his bass like a weapon of revenge, and his brother Scott Asheton remained a powerhouse behind the drums. But the most remarkable change came from the singer; Raw Power revealed Iggy as a howling, smirking, lunatic genius. Whether quietly brooding ("Gimme Danger") or inviting the apocalypse ("Search and Destroy"), Iggy had never sounded quite so focused as he did here, and his lyrics displayed an intensity that was more than a bit disquieting. In many ways, almost all Raw Power has in common with the two Stooges albums that preceded it is its primal sound, but while the Stooges once sounded like the wildest (and weirdest) gang in town, Raw Power found them heavily armed and ready to destroy the world -- that is, if they didn't destroy themselves first. [After its release, Iggy was known to complain that David Bowie's mix neutered the ferocity of the original recordings. In time it became conventional wisdom that Bowie's mix spoiled a potential masterpiece, so much so that in 1997, when Columbia made plans to issue a new edition of Raw Power, they brought in Pop to remix the original tapes and (at least in theory) give us the "real" version we'd been denied all these years. Then the world heard Pop's painfully harsh and distorted version of Raw Power, and suddenly Bowie's tamer but more dynamic mix didn't sound so bad, after all. In 2010, the saga came full-circle when Columbia released a two-disc "Legacy Edition" of the album that featured Bowie's original mix in remastered form]

Forging melody, message, and authenticity with heavy raw power, Oakland, California's BLACKWULF have been purveying massive riff rock for over a decade.

Comprised of rock veteran players, BLACKWULF features Alex Cunningham on vocals, Pete Holmes on guitar, Jesse Rosales on guitar, Scott Peterson on bass, and Dave Pankenier on drums.

Drawing from influences found in the darker corners of your stepdad's vinyl collection, the vintage five-piece outfit's electric live performances and headbanging heaviness have converted a wide base of ravenous fans from Los Angeles to London.

What distinguishes BLACKWULF from many of their contemporaries is a strong emphasis on "songs" rather than "sounds", delivering a wide slab of listenable vintage-style heavy metal that draws its strengths from imaginative content and quality performance.

Founded in 2012 in the San Francisco Bay Area, the band's first vinyl release, "Mind Traveler", was released on Wickerman Records and met with critical acclaim. 2015 saw BLACKWULF aligning with premier California heavy rock label Ripple Music, and releasing their signature second album, "Oblivion Cycle", a riffed-out metal tour de force, whose "serious stoner vibes" were praised by Decibel Magazine. 2018 found the band digging deeper into vintage metal roots, releasing their second Ripple Music vinyl, "Sinister Sides"; the album featured three guest
tracks from a fan (and now friend) of the band, Geof O'Keefe, an original founder of PENTAGRAM. BLACKWULF celebrated the release in the Spring of 2018 by performing as a featured artist at Austin's South By Southwest Festival and then again across the pond at Desertfest in London.

Fast forward to 2022: BLACKWULF have roared back from the pandemic hiatus with a new Ripple Music album, "Thieves and Liars", due to be released in February of 2023, recorded and produced in Oakland by Jesse Nichols (IGGY & The STOOGES, TY SEGALL, JAMES WILLIAMSON). Borne out of the disintegration of the world around them, the new album is the best of BLACKWULF: fist-pumping riffs, dark progressions, apocalyptic visions and plenty of epic heavy rock swagger!

Dark and Dirty World is a collection of songs meant to tell a complete story of a character searching for happiness, acceptance and a secure place in the world, as well as coping with grief and hardship in a sometimes humorous or satirical way, in the vein of Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks/Slow Train Coming, Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever/Wildflowers, or Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run/Ghost of Tom Joad. There are two overall recurring themes. First, is the displacement of the working class and the corruption and greed that has spawned the current climate of popular unrest. Second is the emotional struggle that accompanies a failed relationship and a longing for love, companionship, and a sense of belonging that is seemingly out of reach. Some of the songs were written at various times and were used because they fit the storyline of the album. Dark and Dirty World, Some Things Are Never the Same, Lilly Likes Leanin' on the Piano, and Runnin' into the Fire, were written specifically for the album. Lover of Unreason ended up on the album because the producer of Dark and Dirty World suggested it, I had one of my own songs of a similar style/subject matter that I was going to use but Norma was so excited about it, I went with it and it was the better choice, it book-ends the album perfectly. From end to end the content of the album goes from the macro, a global context of turmoil and struggle, to the micro, an individual context of an internal turmoil and struggle.

Best known for his iconic acting performances in The Outsiders, E.T., Red Dawn, The Walking Dead and many others, Tommy is now adding songwriter and musician to his resume. He is delighted to unveil this new form of his creativity to his fans. He adds, "I can't wait for people to hear the songs and my stories. I'm excited for them to get to know who I really am, not hiding behind a character or a script."

The album was recorded and produced in Nashville by Dean Miller (son of country music legend Roger Miller), who recalls, "Working with Tommy has been an amazing experience. He brings a work ethic to everything that is incredible. I've had the pleasure of seeing how quickly his sound and skill have developed through our sessions together. He has found his place in music pretty quickly and it's an honor to be a part of this project." American Storyteller consists of eleven tracks of Texas thunder-heart meets mountain-music soul. Tommy wrote or co-wrote all but one song on the album with Kevin Lee, Dave Kennedy, and Kurt Thomas.

Fittingly named after the Mississippi town in which Cody and Luther Dickinson and Chris Chew all grew up, „Hernando" is the roadhouse trio's most personal record. It's also their finest. Recorded at their own Zebra studios (aka "The Barn") by Cody and Luther's father, legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson, and released on their own label, Songs of the South Records, the album has a warmth and earthiness that suggest comfort in their own skin and surroundings.

Most importantly, though, „Hernando" is the first North Mississippi All-Stars record to break out of the blues tribute-band mold and reveal their biggest influences: '70s classic rock, '80s metal, and '90s grunge, the same stuff every pot-smoking teenager in America cut their teeth on. "Eaglebird" grooves like vintage ZZ Top; "Rooster's Blues" redirects Jimmy Page riffs through an Alice in Chains prism; and "Keep the Devil Down" is a bluesy take on late Metallica. Herein lies „Hernando's" greatest pleasure: a blues roots band staying true to its real roots.
