Big Head Todd and The Monsters have persisted as a rare force of nature in rock 'n' roll. The platinum-selling Colorado quartet-Todd Park Mohr [vocals, guitar, keys, sax, harmonica], Brian Nevin [drums, percussion], Rob Squires , and Jeremy Lawton [guitar, keys, vocals, steel guitar]-have consistently churned out undeniable and often uplifting anthems fueled by a hybrid of no-nonsense hard rock, simmering soul, dyed-in-the-wool blues, and a twist of country. Akin to your favorite classic automobile, their influence and imprint only widen over time, selling out even bigger venues and enrapturing new eras of fans with every passing year. These cats have always paved their own lane. Todd, Brian, and Rob started playing music together while still in high school during the early eighties. Becoming Big Head Todd and The Monsters during 1986, that lane has twisted and turned just as much as Highway 66. Following a quiet D.I.Y. rise, the group shook the mainstream with 1993's now-classic platinum-certified Sister Sweetly. In it's wake, Robert Plant tapped the band to open his Fate of Nations Tour. Following Strategem [1994], they unveiled Beautiful World [1997] highlighted by a cover of "Boom Boom" [feat. John Lee Hooker]-which notably became the theme song for NCIS: New Orleans. They welcomed Jeremy to the fold in 2001. After penning "Blue Sky" at the urging of friends connected to NASA, they notably performed the song live from Mission Control as an interplanetary wakeup call for astronauts on the shuttle. Along the way, the guys joined B.B. King for a "Crossroads" session and toured with blues heroes a la Hubert Sumlin and David "Honeyboy" Edwards. They have headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre a staggering 35 times. Recognizing "38 years of continuous musical service to fans," the Colorado Music Hall of Fame inducted the quartet as part of it's "Class of 2023." Now, they've crafted the perfect soundtrack to this journey in the form of their 12th full-length offering, Her Way Out.

Crowded House's eighth album feels like a nugget retrieved from a time capsule buried in the mid '60s-just as the British Invasion ushered in a shaggy new counterculture. The cover art even mimics the classic Klaus Voormann portraits of the Beatles' Revolver. There's a trippy garage-psych vibe to songs like "Blurry Grass" and "Black Water, White Circle," with the hypnotic latter boasting nervous percussion and choral harmonies. "I Can't Keep Up With You" is a hip-swiveling call to dance. Neil Finn & Co. also delve into the folky side of the era, with "Magic Piano"-twinkling keys, whispery backing vocals, laser light-show dreaminess-and the optimistically jangling, Simon and Garfunkel-esque "Teenage Summer" (featuring additional vocals by New Zealand singer Ladyhawke). Finn has said he named the album for a stone staircase he sees on vacation, calling it a "metaphor for getting a little older and becoming aware of your own mortality, your own physicality" as there is "more determination needed to get to the top, but there's still the same compulsion to climb." The compulsion is strong, and it runs in the family. His older brother Tim Finn, of the great New Zealand band Split Enz, co-wrote and lends vocals to "Some Greater Plan (For Clare)," a dreamy Everly Brothers-style ballad warmed with glistening bouzouki. Indeed, the album is a family affair, in both the true and musical sense, as the band now includes Neil's sons Elroy and Liam trading off on various instruments (their mother, Sharon, joins on backing vocals for a few tracks), as well as original bassist Nick Seymour. Also present is keyboardist/ producer Mitchell Froom, who has worked with Crowded House on and off since their excellent self-titled debut in 1986-the album that gave us and "Something So Strong" and "Don't Dream It's Over," one of the most perfect pop songs put to record of the decade. "The Howl" is a country rocker, "All That I Can Ever Own" feels Paisley Underground-esque, and "Oh Hi"-inspired by Neil's work with a nonprofit that builds schools in remote areas of Kenya and Tanzania-is bubblegum joyous. Midlands outfit Cloven Hoof must rate as one of the most legendary bands of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. The origins of the group go back to the year 1979, when they first formed under the name of Nightstalker. In 1981, however, the band switched to their new moniker: Cloven Hoof.

Cross Purposes could have been the ultimate Black Sabbath album. That may be a bold claim, but it combines members from several different eras together for perhaps the most promising lineup since Ronnie James Dio's days with the band. Geezer Butler is there to represent the classic '70s version, Tony Martin returned to the fold to be the '80s representative, new drummer Bob Rondinelli brings the '90s flavor to everything, and Tony Iommi is the never-say-die (no pun intended) original member who never left the flock. But instead of crafting Sabbath's masterful return to grace, they made a weird mishmash of power metal and stoner rock that works more often than not. At least Butler seems to have Iommi attempting memorable riffs again, something he couldn't quite get the hang of until the album previous to this. "I Witness" opens with a classic guitar part, while the drums drive the song along and the bass chugs away with a newfound energy. But this energy is offset by the increasingly soulful vocals of Martin, who simply cannot muster the creepy wail that Ozzy Osbourne brought to the band. In fact, he puts in a performance that is even below the standards he set on albums like The Eternal Idol. The minute his voice starts on the first track, it's as if Sabbath had to adjust to not make him sound out of place. Why the band couldn't have found a suitable replacement is a mystery, unless Iommi had simply given up on bringing in yet another singer after so many had come after Osbourne. "Virtual Death" is the brutally heavy shocker that suddenly appears in the middle of the album; it goes to show how they could have incorporated Martin much more effectively and is also the best slow crawl Iommi had worked on since 1983's "Zero the Hero." Butler does seem to have a good influence on Iommi whenever they work together, and their interplay becomes quite interesting as the album goes on. For whatever reason, most of the filler is at the beginning, leaving the better material to hang back for the second half. "Immaculate Deception" contains another good riff, although keyboardist Geoff Nichols spews inappropriate new age nonsense all over it. "Back to Eden" improves matters again with more wonderful interaction between Butler and Iommi, while "Cardinal Sin" is yet another good song that goes to show how misused Martin had been during his first run with the band. Many might disagree, but Cross Purposes is the first album since Born Again that actually sounds like a real Sabbath record. And it is probably the best thing they'd released since The Mob Rules, even with the filler tracks and keyboards. Of course, the lineup completely dissolved as Iommi perpetuated the band's downward spiral, but for a brief moment it seemed like Sabbath could have really shaped up into something special.

From his time in folk-rock innovators Fairport Convention through the 50 years since his solo debut Henry the Human Fly, Richard Thompson has qualified as an obvious legend. His songwriting, singing, and guitar playing all stand out as both exceptional and versatile. Now in a later phase of his evolution, he's moved away from the exploratory nature of his early and mid-career albums; like other recent Thopmson albums, Ship to Shore focuses on presenting a new set of his amazing songs and delivery, with a balance of cohesion and variety.

Thompson's solo albums since his debut in 1972-a year after leaving Fairport Convention- through the '90s, emphasized his collaboration with production and engineering teams. On 1974's Henry the Human Fly and the classic Richard & Linda Thompson albums that followed it, producer Joe Boyd encouraged John Wood's beautiful mixes to shine. Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake brought a decade of their unusual keyboards and inventive mix ideas starting with 1986's Daring Adventures. This chapter ends with Rob Schnapf and Tom Rothrock's 1999 work on Mock Tudor, coupling simpler arrangements with crisp elements of '90s alt-rock.

Since 2003's The Old Kit Bag, Thompson's albums of new songs have had more straightforward production and mixes, even on albums with prominent musicians like Buddy Miller and Jeff Tweedy as producers. Drummer Michael Jerome has worked with Thompson since The Old Kit Bag, and Taras Prodaniuk joined on bass for 2007's Sweet Warrior.

While songs on Ship to Shore vary in volume, tempo, and arrangement, they generally fall in the middle of his dynamic and emotional range. The album's highest peaks-"Maybe" and "Turnstile Casanova"-never approach the blistering catharsis of "Shoot Out the Lights." The acoustic arrangement that starts "Singapore Sadie" and the jazz-informed tonality of "Life's a Bloody Show" still pair with rock elements with more visceral punch than Thompson's acoustic hits like "Beeswing" or "Vincent Black Lightning 1952." The combination of electric guitar and rock drums with fiddle and acoustic guitar gives the album a versatile tonal palette, as these elements take turns in the foreground.

Like any Richard Thompson album, the guitar solos emphasize some key emotional highlights. The Wonderful New Volume In The 'Private Parts And Pieces' Series By Composer And Genesis Founder Member Anthony Phillips. 'The Golden Hour' is the first new volume of the series since the release of 'City Of Dreams' in 2012. This collection features some beautiful and evocative pieces such as the four-part 'Wynchmore Hill Suite' and a vocal version of 'Roads in Between'. Anthony Phillips describes 'The Golden Hour' as "a traditional PPP album of old, a collection of pieces of disparate background hopefully constituting a cohesive whole". This album is indeed a fine collection.

'The Golden Hour' is the first new volume of the series since the release of 'City of Dreams' in 2012. This collection features some beautiful and evocative pieces such as the four-part 'Wynchmore Hill Suite' and a vocal version of 'Roads in Between'. Anthony Phillips describes 'The Golden Hour' as 'a traditional PPP album of old, a collection of pieces of disparate background hopefully constituting a cohesive whole'.

French band Air 1998 debut album, Moon Safari, will be reissued for its 25th anniversary (somewhat belatedly) as a 2CD+blu-ray set. The second CD features a selection of 11 rarities, some of which are previously unreleased. The really exciting element is the blu-ray which includes a Dolby Atmos Mix of Moon Safari, a 192/24 stereo mix, and three promo videos alongside the 1998 documentary film Eating, Sleeping, Waiting & Playing by director Mike Mills. This film follows band members Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel during their first ever tour stops in New York, London, and Paris.

Pink Floyd release of their iconic album Animals 2018 Remix for the first time in Dolby Atmos immersive audio on Blu-ray.

Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in January 1977 .. It was recordedat the band's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976 and early 1977, and was produced by the band themselves. The successful album peaked at number 2 in the UK and number 3 in the US and was recorded by band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright.

The Animals 2018 Remix - Dolby Atmos, by James Guthrie, released on Blu-ray, which also includes High Resolution Stereo and 5.1 Mixes alongside the 1977 Original Stereo Mix. The Dolby Atmos mix goes beyond ordinary listening by immersing the listener in the music, revealing details with unparalleled clarity and depth. Listeners will feel like they are inside the song as music moves around and above them.

The album artwork has been reimagined especially for this release and presented in a digipak with a 16-page booklet, a sticker and a postcard. The front cover image still includes the iconic pig floating between two chimneys of the Battersea Power Station, conceived by Roger Waters. However, for this new release, the artwork has been re-created for the modern era by Storm Thorgerson's Hipgnosis partner Aubrey 'Po' Powell and Peter Curzon from StormStudios, and shows the historic building as it looks now, complete with light projections, variations of which feature in the accompanying booklet.

Sun, sea, and surf rock converge with dreamy hypnagogic pop on 'Dmaot,' the enchanting sophomore album by the guitar-wielding, vocal-harmonising trio, Rasco.

Rasco carefully extracts the essence and distinctive sound of sixties surf and garage bands and distils them into a modern and distinctly Mediterranean context. Blending ethereal vocal harmonies with irresistible guitar riffs, Rasco skillfully creates a one-of-a-kind sonic blueprint that sounds like something you dreamed of hearing at Twin Peaks infamous Roadhouse.

Electric guitarist Eden Atiya and bass guitar Gaya Wajsman first crossed paths in a smoky cave in Jerusalem, eventually teaming up with drummer Itay Hamudi to form Rasco. Their self-titled debut album, characterised by catchy guitar riffs entwined with mysterious, ethereal vocals, sung in Hebrew, garnered attention and playlistings from the likes of acclaimed pianist, singer, and composer Hania Rani.

The album delves into dreamlike landscapes, capturing the essence of different scenarios. "Layla" conjures hazy night-drives into the mountains, whilst "Nahar/Rau" reflects prophecies in rivers, birds, and sand. "Suzi Suzuki" is an ode to Japan, and "Louisa" pays homage to Hamudi's Grandma. According to Eden, there's a prevalent theme of "nostalgia for something you've never experienced." Similarly, "Sleeping Sea", hints at the omnipresent power of the sea, even at its stillest, with its brooding hammond chords and almost C&W guitar, paints memories of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Games"

Rasco is a genre-defying trio that transcends the boundaries of surf rock and psych, creating a mesmerising blend of sound and emotion. 'Dmaot' is a testament to their evolution as artists and their ability to weave a tapestry of sonic landscapes into their own world.
