20th Anniversary Edition, A three-album set that includes a newly remastered version of the original album and a selection of rarities. A major highlight is the new mix by Terry Date, the legendary producer who was behind the console for the band's previous four landmark albums: Cowboys from Hell (1990), Vulgar Display of Power (1992),Far Beyond Driven (1994) and The Great Southern Trendkill (1996).

The group's fifth album to feature the classic lineup - brothers "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul on guitar and drums, vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown - was less turbulent than its predecessor, 1996's The Great Southern Trendkill. (Anselmo, struggling with substance abuse issues, chose to record his vocal tracks separately once the band had laid down their tracks.) But Abbott later compared the sessions to "pulling teeth.[Anselmo] didn't like any of the material, and it was always just like this head-butting contest." Nonetheless, critics enjoyed another round of Pantera's signature groove metal, and Reinventing The Steel matched Trendkill's Billboard chart peak of No. 4 (although it was only certified gold by the RIAA compared to the platinum discs their last four releases earned).

"Where The Great Southern Trendkill experimented with slower, moodier pieces, Reinventing the Steel finds Pantera sticking to the pulverizing basics of their sound, with the first down-tempo, nondistorted guitar part appearing on the next-to-last track, "It Makes Them Disappear," and vanishing about 15 seconds into the song. In the tradition of the group's best albums, Reinventing the Steel is a nonstop assault on the senses, offering no respite from the intensity until the album has stopped playing. Yet somehow, it comes off as a cut below their best albums; perhaps it's that the band's sound lacks the sense of freshness that sparked Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven, or perhaps it's simply good in a very predictable way (contrary to its title). Yet even if Pantera is firmly entrenched in a signature sound, it's a distinctive, highly effective signature sound that most of the band's fans don't want to hear changed; plus, Dimebag Darrell is still one of the most inventive guitar players in heavy metal. The bottom line is that the way you feel about Reinventing the Steel will likely depend on whether you object to more of the same; if not, then the lean focus of its attack -- the most concise, actually, since Vulgar Display -- will make it more than worthwhile." The original nine-song double-LP In Concert was the first "new" Eric Clapton release in well over a year, and the first to show up in the wake of The History of Eric Clapton compilation (which, in turn, had helped transform the earlier Dominos album Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs into a belated hit). It was also, other than Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert -- which actually took place in the same month that this set was issued, and was issued eight months later -- the only new Clapton material that anyone would see for over a year, as the guitarist struggled through personal turmoil that included heroin addiction. No one who wasn't personally close to him knew that at the time -- this and the Rainbow Concert album were issued to keep his name before the public. And at the time, a lot of fans and critics were disappointed by this set -- the Layla album had already started to take on iconic status, with lots of listeners wearing out that album's grooves and reveling in its complexity, intensity, and seeming studio-generated perfection (plus the presence of Duane Allman).
Comprised of live performances, In Concert never seemed as compelling: for starters, Allman hadn't been present for either of the shows that was recorded (and, in fact, only appeared at a tiny handful of Dominos performances), which made this a somewhat different band. And what we did get was a much more relaxed and often more soulful, involving body of music, starting with the opening track, "Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad" and continuing with "Got to Get Better in a Little While"; there was also some disappointment in the sound quality, however, and with the song selection. Despite the fact that they were touring to support the album that carried its name, the group seldom ever performed their most recognizable song, "Layla"; and their repertory was filled out with material from past Clapton projects rather than more material off the Layla album; in effect, the Dominos had become the first Eric Clapton Band, which made this a little less than a live account of this band's work. Thus, it was the hardcore fans who fully embraced this record, mostly for its transcendent moments and the beautiful interplay of the musicians, especially on their own repertory.

Nikolo Kotzev's Nostradamus is a rock opera in three acts written by the virtuoso musician Nikolo Kotzev about the life and times of Nostradamus. It was released as a 2-CD set in 2001. Several members of Kotzev's main project, Brazen Abbot, also appear on this album.

Nostradamus sees big names of the metal/rock scene attributed to specific roles in order to narrate the story of the famous French prophet. Some of the most iconic singers of the Hard'n'Heavy scene are featured, including Glenn Hughes, Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Edman, Jorn Lande, Doogie Wait, Alannah Myles and more. Sustained throughout by a 35-piece orchestra, each song is more fantastic than the next.
