Recouping after a car crash and faced with the loss of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, Jeff Beck redefined what the Jeff Beck Group was about, deciding to tone down the bluesy bombast, adding keyboardist Max Middleton for a jazz edge, then having Bob Tench sing to give it an overblown early-'70s AOR edge. As expected, these two sides are in conflict and Tench can be a little overbearing, but there are moments here that bring out the best in Beck. Namely, these are the times when the group ventures into extended, funk-inflected, reflective jazzy instrumental sections. These are the moments that point the way toward the success of Blow by Blow, yet this remains an unabashed rock record of its time, and it falls prey to many of its era's excesses, particularly lack of focus. Still, there are moments that are as fine as anything Beck played here.

• Uriah Heep, who indisputably invented Hard Rock in conjunction with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, have sold in excess of 40 million albums since their inception in 1969. From their early incarnation as Spice (joined by members of the Gods), through record breaking tours, gold and platinum selling albums, timeless chart scaling anthems and a fiercely dedicated fan base of worldwide proportions, Uriah Heep can rightly claim to be one of the greatest U.K. progressive heavy rock bands of both the 20th and 21st centuries.
• Originally founded by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box, Uriah Heep have been through an incredible number of permutations, with Mick Box always at the helm. Long standing keyboard player Phil Lanzon and vocalist Bernie Shaw were recruited nearly 30 years ago in 1986. Drummer Russell Gilbrook who has now been with the band 7 years, has recorded studio albums "Wake the Sleeper", "Into the Wild" & "Outsider". "Wake the Sleeper" heralded an exciting new phase for the band, taking Heep's classic sound right into the future. The band celebrated its 40th anniversary an aptly titled greatest hits re-recordings album called "Celebration". Dave Rimmer, who had been standing in for Trevor Bolder (ex-David Bowie's Spiders From Mars), continues as the bassist, and with the band's diary for the foreseeable future as full as ever In January 2011, the band returned to the studio once again to record "Into the Wild" which began with a strong start in Germany at #32 and the band once again returned to the road for a worldwide tour. Playing to nearly 150,000 people, in Eastern Europe, Australia, Japan, and America and playing in 58 different countries in total.
• "Recording a live DVD in London at Koko's was just fantastic. Our fans travelled from all over the world to be there, and be part of this magic night," says Mick Box. "This added so much to the atmosphere, and thankfully it was captured on camera. We debuted two songs from our new CD, 'Outsider,' that night, and the reaction was just incredible, proving that we have the best fans in the world."

Shinin' On is the eighth album by Grand Funk Railroad, released in 1974. Although not as successful as its predecessor, We're an American Band, it peaked at #5 in the US and was certified gold, and its first single, a cover of "The Loco-Motion" topped the U.S. charts. The original cover was done in bi-visual 3-D and included the required blue and red lensed glasses to view it. The title song was featured in The Simpsons' 7th season episode "Homerpalooza". A Quadraphonic mix of the album was available in the Quadraphonic 8-Track cartridge format.

• "35 years have passed since the legendary MSG concert Live At The Budokan. Like a miracle Michael Schenker returns to Japan with his past original singers from the '80's to celebrate the Michael Schenker Fest with Barden, Bonnet and McAuley at the amazing Tokyo International Forum. 5000 fans witnessed an anthology moment of quintessential hard rock music of the highest calibre. It's a miracle that after all these years, something like this took place with the original band members of MSG. Being able to go back to those days and celebrate the music is an exciting experience for the band, as well as for old and new fans. To being able to re-experience, and for the new audience to get a feel of what it was like, is incredibly enjoyable. For Michael Schenker it was an amazing feeling to have all of his MSG Family from the '80's performing together and especially with Graham Bonnet, who he never got to play any concerts after their Assault Attack album that was originally released in 1982. Fortunately, being able to have the participation of original MSG members such as Gary Barden, Chris Glen and Ted McKenna being part of it, and somehow, to perform with Robin McAuley and Steve Mann again as well, was pretty awesome for Michael Schenker.

Despite its reputation as one of the most exciting live bands to ever rock an arena in the Seventies, Bad Company never released a live album during its meteoric rise to the top of the charts. That has changed as Rhino introduces the first-ever official live album to spotlight the original Bad Company line up: Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke and Boz Burrell.
The collection includes more than two-and-half hours of unreleased music taken from 24-track tapes in the band's vault. The music heard on this live collection features absolutely no enhancements or overdubs, nothing but the band as they performed live on the night of the concert.
Live 1977 & 1979 includes two previously unreleased concerts - with one additional track taken from the group's June 26, 1979 show in Washington, DC.
The first disc captures the band's show at the Summit House in Houston, Texas, which took place on May 23, 1977. It was recorded during Bad Company's tour supporting its fourth studio album Burning Sky. After opening with the title track from the album, the band went on to play selections from all its previous albums: Run with the Pack (1976), Straight Shooter (1975) and Bad Company (1974). Among the crowd-pleasing highlights are strong performances of "Shooting Star," "Ready For Love," "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" and "Feel Like Makin' Love."
The next disc fast-forwards two years to the band's March 9, 1979 show in London, which was recorded during the band's tour for its multi-platinum album, Desolation Angels. Several songs from that album were performed during the show, including "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy," "Gone, Gone, Gone" and "She Brings Me Love." The group also performed several songs from earlier albums that weren't part of the 1977 concert, like "Run With the Pack," "Rock Steady" and "Can't Get Enough."

• The Highwaymen - Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson--were country music's first bonafide "supergroup," an epic quartet of blockbuster star power comprised of the four prime forces of America's outlaw country music revolution. An essential musical and cultural influence, the Highwaymen were active for the decade spanning 1985 to 1995, recorded three major label albums, charted hit singles (including their Number 1 debut, "Highwayman," which won the Best Country Song Grammy Award in 1986) and performed a variety of shows achieving mythic status for those lucky enough to have been there.

• Making a concert by the band Rammstein on film is an extremely difficult task. Through his music productions, irrutious details flicker, encapsulated perspectives, contrast shocks, sensual confusion - and in "RAMMSTEIN: PARIS" he celebrates this from minute one. 22 songs are playing Rammstein in the film, the scale ranges from "Do you want to see the bed in flames?", The first song from the very first record, to "Spring in Paris" from the last studio album "Liebe ist fur alle da da". The film is not only the absolute highlight of the documentary work to date on this band, a medium that can be understood by many of its dimensions only at first. Heart was pretty much considered washed up when they released Heart in 1985. They learned a few important things while they had taken a short sabbatical -- they knew that hooks were important and they knew they could play up their looks for MTV. So, they delivered both with Heart, giving their audience anthemic hooks and tightly corseted bosoms, leading to the most popular album they ever had. This doesn't mean it's the best, since its calculated mainstream bent may disarm some long-term fans, but it is true that they do this better than many of their peers, not just because they have good polished material from professional songwriters but because they can deliver this material professionally themselves. Yes, "These Dreams," "Never," and "What About Love" don't quite fit into the classic Heart mode, but they are good mid-'80s mainstream material, delivered as flawlessly as possible. There's still a lot of filler on this record, but the best moments are among the best mainstream AOR of its era.

Naked. To create the new stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes for 'Sgt. Pepper,' producer Giles Martin and mix engineer Sam Okell worked with an expert team of engineers and audio restoration specialists at Abbey Road Studios in London. Don't be fooled by the Bee Gees-esque cover photo, Love Beach is not really ELP gone pop. True, many of the songs are more concise and accessible than those on previous albums, and there are a couple of Greg Lake-dominated "romantic" tunes, but those had always been part of the deal. They're still classically rockin' along on "Canario," and half the album is dominated by the 20-minute epic "Memoirs of an Officer and a Gentleman," reminiscent of such long-form ELP classics as "Trilogy."

Formed in 1970, Emerson, Lake & Palmer were torchbearers of the progressive rock sound and one of rock's first super-groups. The world-conquering, stadium-filling prog giants helped to broaden the audience for the genre from hundreds of thousands into tens of millions and were one the most commercially successful rock bands of the 1970s. Their first 7 album releases all made the U.K. albums chart top 10 and U.S. top 20. Works Volume 2 is ELP's sixth studio album, released in 1977, and now expertly remastered for the first time in 24 bit / High Density formats from the original tapes. The album's brief, eclectic compositions cover an array of musical styles, combining stimulating originals and handsomely orchestrated renditions of 'Maple Leaf Rag', 'Honky Tonk Train Blues', and 'Show Me The Way to Go Home'. Works 2 showcases incredibly strong performances from all 3 band members - Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. Includes the massive hit 'I Believe in Father Christmas', Greg Lake's beautiful composition, highlighting his strong voice and vibrant acoustic guitar. After Anathema's 2012 award-winning album Weather Systems and 2014's spellbinding Distant Satellites, the ambient rockers are back with their eleventh full-length, The Optimist. Out now on Kscope, The Optimist reveals some of the darkest, most challenging and unexpected music the sextet have put their name to.
Anathema, led by brothers Daniel and Vincent Cavanagh, along with drummer John Douglas, singer Lee Douglas, bassist Jamie Cavanagh and drummer/keyboardist Daniel Cardoso began recording The Optimist in the winter of 2016 at Attica Audio in Donegal, Ireland and then finished at Castle Of Doom studios in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan [Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals] at the helm. Vincent elaborates on Doogan's influence on the recording process "he suggested that we record as a live band, which we hadn't done for years. Having played a few tunes on the last tour, we were ready for that. Tony wanted to capture that energy you can only get with everyone facing each other. it makes a big difference. He was a superb guy to work with and I learned a lot making this record"
The idea for The Optimist was born from the front cover artwork of the band's 2001 album A Fine Day To Exit Daniel Cavanagh explains "I suppose you might say the album is semi-autobiographical because this time we used a surrogate," he says, of the character that is The Optimist "We put sound, feelings and crucially, our own hopes and fears into another person and made him the subject of the songs then weaving my own internal monologue into the narrative of The Optimist. It was John's idea to write a narrative, so I took A Fine Day To Exit as the starting point". Vincent elaborates further on the earlier album's artwork influence "The guy who disappeared - you never knew what happened to him, did he start a new life? Did he succumb to his fate? It was never explained. The opening track title is the exact coordinates for Silver Strand beach in San Diego - the last known location of The Optimist - shown on the cover of A Fine Day to Exit.
To continue the theme further, the band brought back designer and illustrator Travis Smith to create the artwork for The Optimist. The artwork was created from a series of photographs Smith took on a West Coast road trip.
With the character's unresolved destiny the three song writing members, meticulously brought the unfinished story to an end - and most strikingly of all - one which is decided by the listener.

Steven Tyler is the iconic songwriter and prolific voice of the best-selling American rock band, Aerosmith. Tyler is considered one of music's most recognizable and dynamic frontmen and has been cited by Rolling Stone as "one of the greatest singers of all time." Tyler and Aerosmith have sold more than 150 million records worldwide, he has won four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and an Emmy Award. In addition to having nine number one hits, 25 gold, 18 platinum and 12 multi-platinum album certifications, Tyler, along with the rest of his band members were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2013, Tyler was awarded with the Founder's Award at the ASCAP Pop Awards and was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Tyler and Aerosmith recently finished their North America "Let Rock Rule" tour with Slash. Currently, Tyler is working on his upcoming highly anticipated solo project with Dot Records in Nashville.

Like Mick Jagger before him, Steven Tyler itched to launch a solo career, but where Mick struck while the iron was relatively hot -- 20 years after "Satisfaction," true, yet the Rolling Stones still packed arenas -- the Aerosmith singer took the better part of a decade to figure out what he wanted to do on his own. Stumbling through a starring gig on American Idol and an accompanying flop single that led to an awkward 2012 reunion with Aerosmith, Tyler finally resurfaced as a country singer -- a surprise, because the closest he ever came to country was the Desmond Child co-write "What It Takes," a power ballad that provides a good touchstone for 2016's We're All Somebody from Somewhere. Nominally a country album, We're All Somebody from Somewhere doesn't belong to any country: laden with power ballads and pulsating polished rockers, it's commercial music for nonexistent formats. Tyler has a laugh with the lighter moments -- he skips through "I Make My Own Sunshine," a number so effervescent it should never have crossed his lascivious lips, and glides into the glistening groove of "Sweet Louisiana" -- but a good chunk of We're All Somebody from Somewhere moves a good deal slower, pulsating along with minor keys and deliberate marches. Pro that he is, Tyler never seems out of sorts. He lays into the crawling schmaltz of "My Own Worst Enemy" and "It Ain't Easy" with as much gusto as he slings the corn of "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly & Me," "Red, White & You," and "We're All Somebody from Somewhere," songs where signifiers substitute for significance and it really doesn't matter at all, partially because Tyler never figured out what he wanted this album to be. By the time he closes the record with superfluous renditions of "Piece of My Heart" and "Janie's Got a Gun" -- certainly leaner than the Pump original, yet still overblown -- it's clear that nobody involved with We're All Somebody from Somewhere had a conception for the music: they just wanted to cut a record that would be everything for everyone in the hopes it'd appeal to somebody from somewhere. They wound up with a record that tries hard to please but never does because the labor is always too evident.

The genesis of Simple Minds Acoustic can be traced back to a rare live session the band recorded for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show in September 2014, promoting their 16th studio album, BIG MUSIC. The reaction, to the band's surprise, was overwhelmingly favourable.

With this in mind, the band began 2016 by putting together an acoustic set for the Zermatt Unplugged Festival in the Swiss Alps. Having spent weeks working on meticulously layered acoustic arrangements of their best-loved songs for that 90-minute performance, they began hatching plans to record them. With Jim and Charlie augmented by regular bassist Ged Grimes, backing vocalist Sarah Brown, acoustic guitarist Gordy Goudie and percussionist Cherisse Osei, they temporarily halted the recording of the forthcoming sequel to BIG MUSIC - an album that is 'anything but acoustic' - and gave their complete commitment to an all-encompassing acoustic project. The recorded versions stick to many of the ideas forged for that Swiss show, with the synthetic sounds of old replaced with warmer effects.

The band could play more styles than almost any other group. On Spirit they unveiled a melange of rock, jazz, blues, folk-rock, and even a bit of classical and Indian music. The music is experimental. The vocals flow as easily as the instrumentals. Spirit struck a careful balance between disciplined studio chops, jazz improvisation, and driving rock and roll. Guitar prodigy Randy California is a clear standout, but the other band members are superb as well; John Locke's shimmering keyboards, Mark Andes' subsonic wall of bass, and Ed Cassidy's precision drumming. The highly anticipated fifth studio long-player from the stalwart Canadian indie rockers, Everything Now arrives after a two-year gap that saw the normally industrious collective taking a respite from public life. In May 2017 the band performed an intimate secret show in Montreal, where they performed six new songs, and at the end of the month they released the spirited and disco-tinged "Everything Now," the lead single from the upcoming album of the same name. The LP was co-produced by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk, Pulp bassist Steve Mackey, and longtime collaborator Markus Dravs.

In 2004 The Who returned to the Isle Of Wight Festival for the first time since their legendary performance in 1970.
