YES, who are Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison and Billy Sherwood, released their new studio album The Quest on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music on 1st October 2021.

"It is simply an honour for me to have the opportunity to bring together the band members in the development of a well-refined set of songs that capture the band's true potential," said Steve Howe, who produced the album. He added "Much of the music was written in late 2019 with the rest in 2020. We commissioned several orchestrations to augment and enhance the overall sound of these fresh new recordings, hoping that our emphasis on melody, coupled with some expansive instrumental solo breaks, keeps up the momentum for our listeners."

Additional percussion was provided by guest Jay Schellen who supplements YES' live performances.

Containing 11 songs, 8 on the main CD with 3 extra tracks on a bonus CD, The Quest will be available on Vinyl and 5.1 Blu-ray and CD, all on the day of release.

This 50th anniversary reissue presents a new running order (apparently, the originally planned order) and offers a new Bob Clearmountain stereo remix of the album. Alternate mixes of 'Strawberry Wine' and 'Sleeping' are issued for the first time and also included are seven unearthed 'field recordings'. These Calgary Hotel Recordings from 1970 offer a fun and loose, impromptu late night hotel jam session between Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of several Stage Fright songs recorded while the album was in the mixing stage.

Stage Fright is the third studio album by Canadian-American group The Band, released on August 17, 1970. Engineered by Todd Rundgren and Glyn Johns, it features two of the group's best-known songs, "The Shape I'm In" and "Stage Fright," both of which showcased inspired lead vocal performances (by Richard Manuel and Rick Danko, respectively) and became staples in the group's live shows.

From director Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot in the title role, in "Wonder Woman 1984" the fate of the world is once more on the line, and only Wonder Woman can save it. This new chapter in the Wonder Woman story finds Diana Prince living quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s-an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she's come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile, curating ancient artifacts and only performing her superheroic acts incognito. But now, Diana will have to step directly into the spotlight and muster all her wisdom, strength and courage in order to save mankind from a world of its own making.

Patty Jenkins discussed her work with Hans Zimmer, saying, "As someone I consider to be one of the most exceptional composers of all time, I was so thrilled to have Hans Zimmer return to the DC universe with me on Wonder Woman 1984. Not only did the film require the multiple themes that had to relate to the era of the 1980s, but on top of that, Diana, our Wonder Woman, was now unfolding into a much more complex character with many new subtle layers of emotion, most of which were radically different from the gorgeous original theme Hans had written for the Wonder Woman character.

"It was very important to both of us," continued the director, "to include and celebrate that beloved battle cry of a track that has now become so beloved and synonymous with her character, but Diana also now required a much purer and more heroic theme. And Hans provided the most mind-blowing suites of themes for Wonder Woman to now use, all related to and unfolded from his original track.

"He also gave Diana and Steve a love theme for the ages. He wrote Max, Barbara, and the Dreamstone their own extremely specific theme suite of emotional tracks that all veered from almost camp lightness of the era, to dire, to the profound and emotional.

"Hans is the perfect collaborator for the score of this film. And Wonder Woman's world of music is now filled out into a thousand shades of emotion and story. We will all be hearing the themes for many years to come."

British multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield offers up this warmly crafted sequel to his 1975 classic Ommadawn, marking a return to a more organic style of composing. After polling fans online about what type of approach they'd like to hear, Oldfield was overwhelmingly urged to revisit the acoustic style heard on his first three albums. Eager for the challenge, he spent nearly a year in his studio crafting what would become 2017's Return to Ommadawn, an instrumental meditation on the prog-folk fantasy world he'd originally imagined four decades prior. A true solo effort, Oldfield plays every instrument on the record, which is divided into "Part I" and "Part II," each lasting about 20 minutes in a nod to the original's vinyl format. A pleasing blend of Celtic, folk, and rock elements using a multitude of acoustic and electric guitars, old-school keyboards, mandolins, whistles, and hand drums, Return to Ommadawn is thoughtful in its construction, unfurling in a dreamy fantasia that indeed recalls Oldfield's early days, but softened with the nostalgia of accumulated age. The emotional arc of the album is subtly instituted with the gentler peaks of "Part I" eventually becoming quite majestic in the final two movements of "Part II." Oldfield's Ommadawn is an enchanted place and this lush revisitation both honors his initial creation and neatly extends its boundaries.

Released in February 1971, Barclay James Harvest's second album was recorded at Abbey Road studios and was produced by Norman Smith. Widely regarded as one of the band's early masterpieces, 'Once Again', the album was critically acclaimed upon its release and featured the Barclay James Harvest symphony orchestra and eventually attained Gold disc status.

This new expanded edition features three CDs and an all-region Blu ray disc and comprises 44 tracks. The set features the original UK stereo mix remastered from the original master tapes and also includes stunning new 5.1 Surround Sound and stereo mixes by Stephen W. Tayler, a new remaster of the 1972 SQ Quad mix of the album and a multi-channel version of the 1972 Quad mix.

In addition, there is also a rare live performance recorded for BBC Radio One's John Peel in February 1971, and seven further rare bonus tracks, including an early version of 'Mocking Bird' and the full version of the unreleased piece 'White Sails (A Seascape). The set also includes a lavishly illustrated booklet with a new essay Barclay James Harvest experts Keith and Monika Domone and a replica of a 1971 promotional poster.

A little over a year ago, the Rock supergroup 3rd Secret quietly released their debut album. Withering Scorn was formed in 2020 by the brothers Glen and Shawn Drover, who have played together previously in heavy metal icons Megadeth as well as in Eidolon. The pair is joined by Joe DiBiase on bass, who played with Fates Warning for 14 years on multiple records and world tours, and German native Henning Basse on vocals, who is most known for his work with Metalium, Firewind and others. The potent combination of these four incredibly talented musicians joining forces has given birth to an uncompromising heavy metal record in the form of debut offering "Prophets Of Demise".
"The four of us have been musicians most of our lives. At this point, we are pretty honed in as to what we wanted to do musically, and that is to create a 100% uncompromising heavy metal record, which is exactly what we have done. Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to present a new compilation of covers paying tribute to famed singer Michael Bolton, "Steel Bars - A Tribute To Michael Bolton" on July 7, 2023. Specifically, this tribute album focuses on Bolton's earlier career, when he was known as a rock singer and features appearances by members of The Big Deal, About Us, Stormwarning, Girish And The Chronicles, Find Me, FM, and more.
The idea for "Steel Bars - A Tribute To Michael Bolton" came about when Serafino Perugino, President & Head of A&R for Frontiers Music Srl, had the idea to pull together a mix of newer vocalists on the label with established singers on the roster and have them pay tribute to an era of Bolton's career that he is particularly fond of. And so, new names like Girish Pradhan (Girish And The Chronicles), Dave Mikulskis (a rising talent who is working with Jim Peterik), Sochan Kikon (About Us), Ana Nikolic (The Big Deal), Nevena Brankovic (The Big Deal), Santiago Ramonda (Stormwarning), Stefan Nykvist (Sarayasign), and James Robledo (Sinner's Blood) appear alongside Steve Overland (FM), Gui Oliver (Landfall), Robbie LaBlanc (Find Me), and Ronnie Romero (Michael Schenker, Rainbow).
Each vocalist shines with their unique talent and gives their own spin to these classic songs from Bolton's rock era.

Fred Abbott is joined by a band of vocalists for his second post-Noah And The Whale "solo" album. As first-out-of-the-gate with his 2015 solo album Serious Poke, following the split of NATW, Abbott let loose with the classic rock riffs and infectious hooks that, in hindsight, made his influence apparent on the later NATW material. In the intervening years Abbott has been paying the bills as jobbing producer, writer and session player working with a string of upcoming and established artists including Gabriella Cilmi, Tom Chaplin (Keane), Jamie Lawson, Cassyette, Charlotte OC, Kawala, Megan McKenna and more. Shining Under The Soot finds Abbott returning to the music he loves most. A sound that would ideally have been captured live with a 10-piece band - complete with horn section, backing singers and whirling Leslie cabs, in Muscle Shoals or Sunset Sound - but it was largely recorded piecemeal in a South London windowless basement, below an Eritrean cafe. Despite the practicalities, all the instruments are real - guitars recorded through cranked up valve amps, a Hammond Organ through a roaring Leslie, every drum skin or cymbal hit with sticks. No piano samples or amp sim plugins in sight. Everything pushed air. So why "The Wild Unknown"? With a day job answering to the creative demands of other artists this was a record made for pure pleasure and the only person to please was Abbott himself. Fred demoed the songs with his own vocals. "Listening to the demos I thought "how could this be better?"", says Abbott "What would be more fun? The one thing that could be better is the vocals and I know lots of good singers.." Having absorbed the "History of the Eagles" documentary, Abbott knew that as a band of singers they often all recorded lead vocal on songs and would then pick the best-suited performance for each - a vocal shoot-out. So that's what he did. Steve Llewellyn (Orphan Colours, Ahab), Dave Burn (The Marriage, Ahab), Tom Figgins and Rich Evans all sang lead vocals on every song, in addition to harmonies. Spoiled for choice, Abbott then picked the performance or sound he thought best suited each song. Far from leading to an inconsistent album, the variety ended up adding to the appeal of the record. Despite only singing lead vocals on one track, Fred Abbott's fingerprints are all over this album as producer and multi-instrumentalist, although he did have some help from a team that includes some of the country's top session musicians, Grammy-nominated producer Will Hicks and Grammy-winning mastering engineer Reuben Cohen. As on Serious Poke Abbott is not afraid to wear his love of Petty, Springsteen et al on his sleeve; but this is no pastiche album. It aspires to be a "classic rock" record in the truest sense. Yes, every track has a guitar (or sax) solo, but it's certainly no noodling prog odyssey. The songwriting always comes first - infectious melodic hooks and thoughtful lyrical themes. It may have taken him 8 years between albums, but with Shining Under The Soot Abbott has delivered a record with a quality and depth that repays repeated listens.

13th Star was originally released as a limited edition of 10,000 copies with a bonus DVD on September 6, 2007, only available through Fish's website or at one of his concerts to promote the album. It was released to retail on February 12, 2008. The lineup for the album is Frank Usher on guitars, Steve Vantsis on bass, Foss Paterson on keyboards, Gavin Griffiths on drums, Dave Haswell on percussion, Lorna Bannon on backing vocals, and new bandmember Chris Johnson on guitars. For the first time, Calum Malcolm (Prefab Sprout, Blue Nile) was brought in to produce the album, and he introduced a more disciplined approach into the recording process. There was also a change with regard to writing the album, as bassist Vantsis was heavily involved for the first time after ten years playing in the band, and his writing brought a slightly different approach. Some of the lyrics of the songs were also influenced by the fact that Fish split with his fiancée, Heather Findlay of the band Mostly Autumn, shortly after the recording of the album had started. 13th Star was written as a concept album, although this applies mainly to the lyrics presenting a narrative throughout -- the concept was of someone on a journey of self- discovery, with the 13th Star serving as the guiding light or the destination. From the first chords of the opening track, "Circle Line," the influence of Vantsis can be heard as the album has a more rocky feel, more akin to Sunsets on Empire than more recent albums. After this fast start, the album slows down on the third track, "Miles de Besos," which is Spanish for "Thousands of Kisses." The fifth track, "Arc of the Curve," was the first single released from the album, but as expected, it did nothing in the charts. After this track, the album picks up the pace again with one of the disc's highlights, "Manchmal." This is a German word for "Sometimes," and the song tells the tale of the turtle and the scorpion. The remainder of the album continues in the same vein, and overall this is Fish's best offering in a long while -- some say his best ever, although this is open to debate.
