An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down is the debut solo album by Rod Stewart, released in the United Kingdom in February 1970.In the United States, the album was released in November 1969 as The Rod Stewart Album and peaked at No. 139 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. Several other members of Faces also appear on the album, as well as Keith Emerson, Jeff Beck Group drummer Micky Waller and guitarists Martin Pugh (of Steamhammer, and later Armageddon and 7th Order) and Martin Quittenton (also from Steamhammer).

Originally trained in the profession at Utopia Studios, Jackson began work as an engineer for Pink Floyd in 1980, assisting in the recording of the performances of The Wall at Earls Court. He then worked on the film soundtrack recordings for Pink Floyd - The Wall and the studio album The Final Cut. Jackson became the band's primary engineer beginning with A Momentary Lapse of Reason and then The Division Bell plus the material recorded for the soundtrack to the band's 1992 auto racing documentary film La Carrera Panamericana. He was also the Front of House engineer on the band's 1994 world tour. He was producer of Pink Floyd's final studio album The Endless River.
Jackson has also worked with artists such as Heatwave, Strawbs, The Boomtown Rats (most notably mixed their hit "I Don't Like Mondays") and goth rock group Fields of the Nephilim, and recorded a solo album, Obvious, which was released in 2001. He was also a guitar player in the live band version of The Eden House for four years. Two further solo albums followed, "Signal to noise" and "73 days at sea"

Just like the Doors' first two albums, their third - 1968's Waiting for the Sun - is getting a deluxe reissue for its 50th anniversary this year.
The "50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" of the album includes newly remastered audio, a disc of previously unreleased rough mixes of tracks from the sessions and five live songs from the Doors' performance in Copenhagen in September 1968.
Waiting for the Sun was released in July 1968 and became the Doors' only No. 1 album. In addition to "Hello, I Love You," the album includes classics like "The Unknown Soldier," "Spanish Caravan" and "Five to One."

(1978). Also available is their classic 1976 compilation We Sold Our Soul For Rock 'N' Roll as well as 2006's Greatest Hits 1970-1978, which was released in connection with their induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Following wildly successful shows in North and South America, Australia, Asia and Europe, Black Sabbath will kick off another North American tour with dates starting March 31 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The trek will hit ten cities in Canada, including stops in Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton, before wrapping April 26 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA. These dates will be part of the band's final shows of their 2013-2014 world tour in support of their first studio album in 35 years, 13, which entered the charts at #1 in 13 countries (including their first #1 in the U.S.). Another run of European festivals and headlining shows will follow this summer.

First formed in Birmingham, England, Black Sabbath's doom-laden sound pioneered a new kind of heavy rock music, a sound that would later influence hundreds of other bands. Many consider Black Sabbath to be the godfathers of heavy metal, but Sabbath were capable of surprising their fans with songs that showed other facets of their skills besides darkness and monstrous decibels. Thirty years after their initial impact, guitarists are still stunned by Tony Iommi's jaw-dropping riffs, Geezer Butler's swooping bass lines, and Bill Ward's thunderous drums. And, of course, in Ozzy Osbourne the band had one of the most magnetic and unpredictable front men ever in rock, with a maniacal voice like few others before or since.

While Richard Thompson's devotees will tell you the man is a triple-threat genius -- passionate vocalist, compelling songwriter, and sterling guitarist -- even his most loyal supporters will concede that the dour nature of his songs and the no-frills production of many of his albums make the bulk of his catalog tough sledding for the uninitiated. Given this, 1991's Rumor and Sigh is arguably the best album for those wanting to sample Thompson's work for the first time. It captures Thompson at the top of his form on all fronts, but also gives his songs just enough polish to make them approachable for the unconverted, and though it's several shades darker than the average adult-contemporary album, it honors Thompson's obsession with romantic despair and the less pleasant quirks of fate without sounding depressing in the process.

Keith Richards never wanted to go solo. He'd intimated over and over that the Rolling Stones would basically have to break up to get him to consider such a thing.
And that's just about where his band was as the late '80s wore on. So, Richards finally relented, releasing his debut album Talk Is Cheap on Oct. 3, 1988. Fittingly, he approached it with mixed feelings.
"It's kind of strange, because it was never in the cards for me," Richards told Rolling Stone on the eve of the album's arrival. "It was not something I wanted to do. Also, in the back of my mind, doing a solo record meant a slight sense of failure. The only reason I would do a solo album was because I couldn't keep the Stones together."

Nowhere on his sixth album does Eric Church directly address either of the two most tumultuous events that occurred during its making, but their presence is felt. Exasperation over the politicized aftermath of the shooting at the Church-headlined Route 91 festival imbues opener "The Snake," casting the current national divide as intractable and poisonous. Bookending that is slow-burn closer "Drowning Man," lamenting the dire prospects of an average American worker caught in the middle of that divide. In between, Church's life-affirming relief over successful emergency surgery to remove a deadly blood clot can be heard in the joyous survivor's boogie of "Hangin' Around," the opposites-attract waltz "Heart Like a Wheel," and the "Sympathy for the Devil"-nudging title track ("Fortune teller told me/'No more last chances, you got no future at all'/Oh, but I ain't listenin'"). No one would blame Church if he wanted to use either of these experiences to grandstand a little, but he is canny enough to understand the power of what isn't said.

Two decades ago, Steve Perry walked away from a legacy of carefree rockers and sentimental torch songs. His last recordings at the time, bonus tracks on a greatest hits comp, allowed him to stretch his elastic vocal cords to great heights, the likes of which he'd soared to with Journey and. in the early part of his solo career, with "Oh Sherrie."
The album is very much a classic Steve Perry record, full of dramatic schmaltz, nostalgia and the occasional rocker. Lead single "No Erasin'" could be a Journey song with its crashing piano and guitar riffs and Perry's reminiscences of hooking up with an old flame in the backseat of his car. "Sun Shines Gray" is a driving rocker that goes anyway he wants it (lots of slower, quieter parts for the singing and heavier parts in between). And "Most of All" drips with emotion as Perry croons for "the ones who've lost their most of all."
