Having not hit the road for most of the 80s, The Steel Wheels Tour was an astounding return for the Rolling Stones, not least as it was the longest they had by that point undertaken. It was also to be their last with Bill Wyman. Steel Wheels Live was recorded towards the end of the band's 60-date run through the stadiums of North America, in the second half of 1989.

The gate-busting ticket sales were one thing, but the stage and lighting design of The Steel Wheels Tour set the pace for superstar tours as we know them today. Special guest appearances from Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Eric Clapton and John Lee Hooker on this Atlantic City date make this an even more extraordinary document of the band's return to touring.

From the mastermind of Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Lucassen, 'Transitus' is inspired by supernatural movies such as The Others, The Changeling and Ghost along with the music of soundtrack composers John Carpenter (Halloween), Ennio Morricone (Once upon a Time in the West) and Jerry Goldsmith (Omen).

'Transitus' is built around an entirely new story, not connected to the Ayreon universe although as always it does have some subtle links. The sci-fi theme makes way for a gothic ghost story set (partly) in the 19th century with elements of horror and the supernatural. It's on a dark thunderous night where our story of Abby and Daniel begins...

More than any other release in his four-decade-long recording career, Prince's iconic double album Sign O' The Times captured the artist in a period of complete reinvention.

Primarily recorded between the end of 1985 and beginning of 1987, the era saw the dissolution of his band The Revolution, the end of his engagement to Susannah Melvoin, and the creation (and ultimate abandonment) of the albums Dream Factory, Camille, and Crystal Ball. By the end of that period of transformation, Prince emerged with one of his most urgent and wide-ranging releases to date - an epochal double album that would be hailed as a creative, critical, and commercial triumph.

For those who associate Jimi Hendrix with hard rock, heavy metal and psychedelic rock, and Little Richard with early rock & roll, the two might seem an unlikely combination. But in fact, Richard did hire Hendrix as a sideman in 1964-65, when the material heard on this LP was recorded. At that point, Hendrix was far from a superstar - he had yet to form the Jimi Hendrix Experience, record an album under his own name or embrace the type of music that would eventually be named heavy metal and would have a direct or indirect influence on everyone from Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest to Mother's Finest, Mahogany Rush and Living Colour. The main attraction of these recordings is the singing of Richard, who offers passionate, frenzied performances on such early rock & roll favorites as "Lawdy Miss Claudie," "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and his own hit "Tutti Frutti." Hendrix does no singing whatsoever; he sticks to his guitar playing and is employed in strictly a supportive role. Eclectic and essential as they have ever been, Headless is a crucial entry to Sunburned's wildly prolific and shamanic catalogue.

Entering their third decade of furtive and fried transmissions, Sunburned not only manage to to live and breathe, but are producing some of their best work. Championed by the likes of Julian Cope, Thurston Moore and Byron Coley (who once called them a "human zoo"), Sunburned recorded Headless back in January 2017 during four days of detainment at Jason Meagher's Black Dirt Studio in upstate New York. The project was originally released as Intentions in an edition of 20 cassettes as part of Meagher's Microdose series.

This 2020 edition, Headless features a varsity, five-strong Sunburned lineup with founders John Moloney and Rob Thomas alongside Jeremy Pisani, Ron Schneiderman and Gary War.

On October 5, 2010, Gotthard, singer Steve Lee perished in a motorcycle accident. On stage and off, Lee was the real deal. And although the Swiss melodic hard rockers pluckily chose a replacement that sounded nothing like him, they've struggled to reach the same heights.

A decade on, after discovering these previously unheard recordings of Lee's last ever session Gotthard built an unplugged tribute album around them.

Bearing a title that's as much a manifesto as their 2014 F*** EP, Rock N Roll serves up what it promises: rock & roll. Surprisingly, Rock N Roll isn't quite as back to basics as its title -- or song titles like "Tight Pants," "Wood," and "Sex Appeal" -- would suggest. Buckcherry punch up "Tight Pants" with some horns and they even sink into a slinky, soulful groove on "Rain's Falling," decorating it with a bits of blues guitar straight out of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Elsewhere, there are heavier hints of orchestrated AOR (the harmonies on "Wood") and just a touch of country overtones on the ballad "The Feeling Never Dies," which is enough of a shift in tone to make Rock N Roll a little richer than the average Buckcherry album. While it could be argued that listeners don't turn to Buckcherry for variety, it is nevertheless a welcome sign of inevitable maturity for these legendarily sleazy L.A. scuzz rockers. They may still want to get into your tight pants, but those horns suggest they know there's more to life than Marshall amps.

Mindfields is the 10th studio album by the American rock band Toto. It was released on November 16, 1999. Toto XX: 1977-1997 is a compilation album by Toto to celebrate their 20th anniversary. The album features rare original demos, outtakes, previously unreleased recordings and live tracks from the band's 20-year career.

The first single released, "Goin' Home" was recorded during Bobby Kimball's brief first reunion with the band in 1989, prior to the record company's decision to replace him with new lead singer Jean-Michel Byron. The song had later been recorded by the band's then former singer Joseph Williams and released on his 1997 album 3.

The last three songs where recorded live at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1996.

The song Miss Sun was an early Toto (audition) demo with Lisa Dal Bello contributing on vocals. Toto first released this song on the album XX. Especially for the Scaggs album Hits (1980) Toto and Scaggs re-recorded the song, again with Lisa on vocals.

Tambu is the ninth studio album by American rock band Toto. It was released in May 1995 through Sony Records. It is the first album by the group since the death of Jeff Porcaro in 1992. The album includes the single "I Will Remember", which failed to chart in the US but was the band's first chart hit in the UK since "I Won't Hold You Back" twelve years before.

Tambu is the first Toto studio album with Simon Phillips on drums.

Tambu sonically shines as well, as engineers Elliot Scheiner, Bill Smith and Al Schmidt work audio wizardry. Lukather provides melodic touches on guitar, but his main tool is the piano where he provides flourishes which neatly tie into the cinematic landscape of the song. Lukather also provides touches of synthesizer, while David Paich furnishes the supportive string arrangement.

'10 Songs' is a record about the way life comes at love and what love does to weather those challenges. No passengers here. Nowhere to hide. "I write songs in an antiquated way," explains their creator, "Sitting at the bottom of the bed, 'pouring my simple sorrow to the sound hole and my knee', as Joni Mitchell put it." As a songwriter based in L.A., Fran Healy doesn't need anyone to tell him this is no longer how it's done. It's far from uncommon for the credits on successful modern pop songs to feature upwards of ten writers. Hits by committee. "It's fine," notes Fran, "Personally though, I'll take ten songs written by one person over one song written by ten people. And if I feel that way, then surely someone else must do too."

Stardust, a Hungarian melodic rock/AOR band, released their much anticipated debut full-length on October 9, 2020.

One of the hottest new AOR bands to come out of the underground European scene, Stardust's independently released self-titled debut EP stirred up quite a buzz in the underground melodic rock scene. The band were put to the attention of Frontiers' staff during one of the Frontiers Rock Festivals. Impressed with the band's melodic rock stylings on their debut EP, Frontiers moved swiftly to sign the band to the roster. Of the band's sound, vocalist Adam Stewart says, "We love Def Leppard, Winger, Journey and all the 80's stuff..So, we took those influences and mixed it in with our own 'Stardust' way of doing things."

The "Day of The Doors" annual celebration will mark its fourth year with a special celebration at the location of the original Morrison Hotel on Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles on January 4, 2020. The event will see hotel restored to its original facade as captured on the iconic cover of the Doors fifth album, also titled Morrison Hotel, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020.

Morrison Hotel was released in February of 1970 on Elektra Records, at the height of the Vietnam War and unrest at home in the United States. It is widely regarded as one of the Doors' best albums, featuring topical tracks like "Peace Frog" and the band's signature bluesy romps in "Waiting for the Sun" and "You Make Me Real." The album peaked at #4 on the Billboard chart and the signature hit "Roadhouse Blues" continues to be one of the band's most beloved songs to this day with over 125 million streams.

Relevant Group, the developer that owns the Morrison Hotel will restore the facade of the historic building to mimic its appearance in the iconic photos taken by Henry Diltz for The Doors 1970 album cover, Morrison Hotel. Fans will be able to authentically recreate the album cover in the front window.

Holy Roller Baby is the next emerging rock band we should all be excited about. The band's new record, Frenzy, released on October 9th, 2020 and shows them to be a highly-developed outfit, unafraid to mix heavy riff rock and gritty Motown-inspired grooves in the same set. Holy Roller Baby tracked this full-length effort at Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire, England, which is owned by Radiohead's management company, at the invitation of producer Ian Davenport (Demob Happy, Band of Skulls, Radiohead). These sessions turned out an album full of primitive swagger and intelligent lyrics that vividly describe the human experience without judgement. "A lot of cool kids make music, and I don't really fit into that world," says singer/songwriter Jared Mullins, "I don't know what it's like to be the cool kid." The band also partnered with Chalupa Production in Dallas, Texas to create music videos for the album, one of which ("Ravings At Your Window") hit 100K+ views shortly after its debut.

Swedish heavy metallers Freaks And Clowns have unveiled their new second album, Justice Elite, set international released on October 16th via Metalville Records.
The band, founded by Astral Doors drummer Johan Lindstedt and singer Chrille Wahlgren, who is popular in his homeland of Sweden, is completely dedicated to honest, straightforward heavy metal.
It all begin in 2017, when the two met in the studio in their hometown of Borlange to exchange some song ideas. It soon became clear that the influences of classic heavy metal combined with modern sounds would be the path they wanted to follow together in the future. In addition to guitarist Mathias Henrysson, guitarist Mats Gesar and bassist Ulf Lagerstrom were two more Astral Doors musicians who joined the band.
After the self-titled debut album, released by Metalville in October 2019, Freaks And Clowns set about putting the still-abundant ideas for new songs into practice. The 11 tracks on the follow-up, Justice Elite, which released on October 16th, are once again taking no prisoners and pushing forward at full speed from the very first moment.

The Guess Who is a Canadian rock band, formed in Winnipeg in 1962. Initially gaining recognition in Canada, the group found international success from the late 1960s through the mid-1970s primarily under the leadership of songwriters Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman (later of Bachman-Turner Overdrive) and recorded many hit singles, including "No Time", "American Woman", "Laughing", "These Eyes", "Undun" and "Share the Land". Formed as a garage rock band, their musical style encompassed the pop rock and psychedelic rock genres.

Old Is New is the 14th and final studio album (though counted as the 15th album overall) by the American rock band Toto.

The "Old Is New" album features ten tracks, seven are previously unreleased along with "Spanish Sea," "Alone" and "Struck By Lighting" which are featured on the band's most recent greatest hits collection "40 Trips Around The Sun". One of the new tracks on Old Is New is "Devil's Tower".

"We originally recorded this track with Mike and Jeff Porcaro back in 1981 during the sessions for TOTO IV. We never recorded a lead vocal or had lyrics for this one, so Joseph finished it up for us recently." (Toto)

Explained Williams about the lyrics: "I lived in Chelsea/Kensington, London as a kid and as we had written this cool Beatle-y shuffle, and we wanted an 'English' feel, the guys let me run with the lyrics on Chelsea. In those days (1968-1971) we studied Shakespeare in school. I LOVED it! So for the words for Chelsea I have two of Shakespeare's stories going. Modern versions of Romeo and Juliet in verse one and then Hamlet in verse two. The chorus talks about those stories as well as Chelsea the place (Shakespeare's house was moved there stone by stone in 1910) and some of my memories of it as a 10 year old kid!"

Pearl Jam recorded a live stripped back set for an MTV Unplugged session back in March 1992. But, other than being featured on a DVD in a 2009 reissue of their debut LP 'Ten'. It's never had an official release. Recorded just days after the completion of the band's first ever American tour. The set featured the song 'State Of Love And Trust' from the soundtrack of the 1992 romantic comedy Singles. Along with a handful of tracks from their aforementioned debut album, Ten.

"We literally got off the plane from Europe, spent all day in a cavernous sound studio in New York, and did the show that night," explained bassist Jeff Ament. "It's pretty powerful, and Ed's singing great. Yet it's kind of naive, which is awesome."

Leaders and stalwarts of the American heavy metal scene since the early 80s, Armored Saint's eighth full-length Punching The Sky sees them returning hard. A diverse, attitude-drenched collection, it's everything the band's faithful have come to expect from them while pushing their signature sound forward. "The goal is to write really good music. I know I'm stating the obvious here but that's about the size of our agenda," says bassist Joey Vera. "We've been able to shed a lot of expectations that sometimes plague a band like ours that has been around a long time, and we've recently moved into a comfort zone with just being ourselves. We have this kind of freedom now that we didn't really have early in our career, and we can take some chances and make the kind of music that we want to hear. This record is a reflection of where we are at, right now." Exploding to life with the crunchy, rousing "Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants" and not letting up until the closing ruthless riff of "Never You Fret", the record is possessed of an urgency and vigor which very much places it in the right now, but could only be the work of Vera, guitarists Phil Sandoval and Jeff Duncan, drummer Gonzo Sandoval and vocalist John Bush. "When you're a band that began four decades ago, you really have to push yourself harder than ever when it comes to making a new record," states Bush. "The last thing you ever want is for it to appear as though you were going through the motions or that you're just putting a product out to do some touring. The records are immortal. They'll be here long after us. Every one needs to count in its own individual way."
