Jakko Jakszyk had a life-changing moment when he saw King Crimson playing Watford Town Hall on the 15th July 1971. Hearing the band that night instilled in the 13-year-old Jakko a determination to become a professional musician, setting him off on the road to what has been by any definition a remarkable career. 2020 sees the release of Jakko Jakszyk's latest solo album, "Secrets & Lies" featuring King Crimson bandmates, Robert Fripp, Gavin Harrison, Tony Levin, and Mel Collins.

Boasting guest contributions from Simple Minds bassist John Giblin, Level 42's Mark King and Van der Graff Generator's Peter Hammill, who co-wrote one of the songs, this is Jakko Jakszyk's most accomplished solo release to date.

Though best known for his work as a vocalist and guitarist in King Crimson since 2013, with whom he has played sold-out nights at New York's Radio City Music Hall, the ancient Amphi-theatre in Pompeii and three nights at London's Royal Albert Hall, Jakszyk has enjoyed a busy and diverse career spanning nearly five decades

All these years later, Kansas still rule the classic rock radio airwaves, and continue to put on simply spellbinding shows of the highest caliber. And what better way to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the release of Kansas self-titled 1974 debut than with a live There s Know Place Like Home, which released on September 28th, 2009 , the show was recorded on February 7th of this year in their home state (at Washburn University s White Concert Hall), and was certainly not your average affair. For this show, the group - which includes singer/keyboardist Steve Walsh, guitarist Rich Williams, violinist David Ragsdale, bassist Billy Greer, and drummer Phil Ehart was united with former members Kerry Livgren (guitar/keyboards) and Steve Morse (guitar), as well as the 50-piece Washburn University Orchestra.
When asked how it was to play alongside an orchestra, Ehart responds, It's always an adventure.. Comprised of a solid track listing that includes fine renditions of Kansas classics ( Dust in the Wind, Carry On Wayward Son, etc.) and fan favorites ( Hold On, On the Other Side, etc.), There s Know Place Like Home surely go down as one of the group s best-ever live performances.

As the world plummeted into the COVID-19 pandemic, the four members of Black Stone Cherry were nestled deep in the woods of Kentucky, scrambling to complete their 7th album. Heaven Or Hell is the third album from Imperium, the solo project of Finnish drummer Mika Brushane, who has been playing drums in various bands since 1981, in all genres from jazz to metal. The group's fifth album to feature the classic lineup - brothers "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul on guitar and drums, vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown - was less turbulent than its predecessor, 1996's The Great Southern Trendkill. (Anselmo, struggling with substance abuse issues, chose to record his vocal tracks separately once the band had laid down their tracks.) But Abbott later compared the sessions to "pulling teeth.[Anselmo] didn't like any of the material, and it was always just like this head-butting contest." Nonetheless, critics enjoyed another round of Pantera's signature groove metal, and Reinventing The Steel matched Trendkill's Billboard chart peak of No. 4 (although it was only certified gold by the RIAA compared to the platinum discs their last four releases earned).

"Where The Great Southern Trendkill experimented with slower, moodier pieces, Reinventing the Steel finds Pantera sticking to the pulverizing basics of their sound, with the first down-tempo, nondistorted guitar part appearing on the next-to-last track, "It Makes Them Disappear," and vanishing about 15 seconds into the song. In the tradition of the group's best albums, Reinventing the Steel is a nonstop assault on the senses, offering no respite from the intensity until the album has stopped playing. Yet somehow, it comes off as a cut below their best albums; perhaps it's that the band's sound lacks the sense of freshness that sparked Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven, or perhaps it's simply good in a very predictable way (contrary to its title). Yet even if Pantera is firmly entrenched in a signature sound, it's a distinctive, highly effective signature sound that most of the band's fans don't want to hear changed; plus, Dimebag Darrell is still one of the most inventive guitar players in heavy metal. The bottom line is that the way you feel about Reinventing the Steel will likely depend on whether you object to more of the same; if not, then the lean focus of its attack -- the most concise, actually, since Vulgar Display -- will make it more than worthwhile." 'Hey Clockface' was recorded in Helsinki, Paris and New York and mixed by Sebastian Krys in Los Angeles.

Following the solo recording of "No Flag," "Hetty O'Hara Confidential" and "We Are All Cowards Now" at Suomenlinnan Studio, Helsinki by Eetu Seppala in February 2020, Costello immediately traveled to Paris for a weekend session at Les Studios Saint Germain.

Costello tells us, "I sang live on the studio floor, directing from the vocal booth. We cut nine songs in two days. We spoke very little. Almost everything the musicians played was a spontaneous response to the song I was singing. I'd had a dream of recording in Paris like this, one day."

The ensemble, dubbed "Le Quintette Saint Germain" by Costello, was recruited for these dates by Steve Nieve (who plays grand piano, upright piano, organ, mellotron & melodica) and features Mickael Gasche on trumpet, flugel horn and serpent, Pierre-Francois 'Titi' Dufour on cello and the drums, percussion and high harmonies of Ajuq.

Reed player Renaud-Gabriel Pion brought many tones and colours to the performances, playing, contrabass clarinet, bass clarinet, Bb clarinet, tenor saxophone, bass flute and cor anglais.

The Paris sessions were recorded by Francois Delabriere.

The New York sessions were produced by composer, arranger and trumpet player Michael Leonhart in collaboration with guitarists Bill Frisell and Nels Cline and completed, lyrically and vocally by Costello, "via Electrical Wire."

Originally released in the United States on 4th November 1970 The Man Who Sold The World album was produced by Tony Visconti and recorded at Trident and Advision Studios in London but was not released until the following April in the U.K. with different artwork.

The 2020 re-release of the album under its Metrobolist moniker, remixed by original producer Tony Visconti, it is preceded by the digital single release of "The Man Who Sold The World (2020 mix)." The track was not released as a single by Bowie at the time, only appearing as the B-side to Life On Mars? on RCA Records in June '73. It wasn't until the 1974 version by Scottish singer Lulu (produced by Bowie and Mick Ronson) that the song gained mainstream attention. In subsequent years, Bowie's 1979 performance of the song on Saturday Night Live and Nirvana's cover on the classic MTV Unplugged album, among others, would establish and reaffirm its status as one of his most beloved songs.

Bowie performed the track live later in his career, including an electronic arrangement during 1995's Outside Tour (as featured on the live album Ouvrez Le Chien) and in an acoustic arrangement in 1996 for the recent Record Store Day release ChangesNowBowie.

Metrobolist 'new' artwork is based on the original Mike Weller 1970 sleeve design, copies 1 - 1970 will be hand numbered white vinyl and copies 1971 - 2020 will be hand numbered on gold vinyl, the remaining unnumbered stock will be on black vinyl all randomly distributed.

Mandala, the Anglo-Scandic trio Mandala, led by multi-instrumentalist Rhys Marsh, return with their second album The Echoes Of Your Mind on November 13.

"The Echoes Of Your Mind is a 40-minute excursion into some heavy, Middle Eastern-inspired psychedelic rock," explains Marsh.

The Echoes Of Your Mind is the first to feature their new bassist Markus Wisth Edvardsen - alongside founder members Marsh on guitar and vocals, and Will Spurling on drums.

The main tracks were recorded live in Marsh's Autumnsongs Recording Studio, with only the vocals and psychedelic elements being overdubbed, during ten days in the eternal daylight of the Norwegian summer.

The Pink Floyd of the late 1980s was an altogether different proposition to the band that had grown to prominence since the late 1960s. After 'The Final Cut' in 1983, frontman, bassist and lyricist Roger Waters quit to go solo, assuming that without his stewardship, Pink Floyd would quietly die. Feeling himself suddenly liberated, lead guitarist David Gilmour had other ideas. Following an infamously bitter legal wrangle over the rights to record as 'Pink Floyd' (Gilmour won), the band carried on without Waters and charted a new direction.

'Delicate Sound of Thunder' retains is freshness, and its sound is bolstered by the army of backing singers and guest musicians who are brought on stage to perform. Fans can't help but notice an absence of tracks from 1983's 'The Final Cut', the album recorded under fractious circumstances. However, all of their big successes from the 1970s are included. Understandably, The Dark Side of the Moon gets a good airing ('Time', 'The Great Gig in the Sky', 'Money', 'Us and Them'). There's also most of the 1975 'Wish You Were Here' album, and 'Run Like Hell', 'Comfortably Numb' and 'Another Brick in the Wall Part 2' from 1979's 'The Wall'. Only 1977's 'Animals' is conspicuous by its absence. The rendition of classic tracks will appeal to the purists. Although played live (having been recorded in studio) at a distance of a decade or more, they are encapsulated perfectly, and played with very little deviation from the established album tracks. Everyone will have their favourite, but for me, it's hard to beat 'Comfortably Numb', taken to whole new levels of bombast here.

Chris Rea - ERA 1 (As, Bs and Rarities 1978 - 1984) is a new compilation album that brings together a collection of Chris Rea's early work between 1978 to 1984. The set provides a comprehensive look at Chris Rea's progression as a solo artist, which started following spells in bands Magdalene and The Beautiful Losers. After securing a solo record deal with Magnet Records, Chris released his debut solo album 'Whatever Happened to Benny Santini?' in 1978.

ERA 1 1978-1984 As Bs and Rarities begins with an edited version of Chris Rea's first big hit 'Fool (If You Think It's Over)' which came from his debut album. The track became a big hit in the USA, earning him a 1979 Grammy nomination as Best New Artist. Following on from this are a whole host of rarities, including B-sides, language variations and different mixes released throughout this period. During this time Chris Rea released six studio albums one of those being Wired To The Moon - of which this set's cover artwork is adapted from. Inside contains a booklet which includes pictures of the various original singles artwork.

With a career spanning over 40 years and over 30 million album sales, Chris Rea's distinctive husky-gravel vocal and incredible body of work has seen him become one of the most loved solo artists the UK have ever produced. A formidable songwriter, and still playing live to this day, he has released an incredible 24 studio albums.

Although a 2018 Parkinson's Disease diagnosis effectively ended Neil Diamond's touring career, the songwriting legend has no plans to stop making music. Recorded between London's historic Abbey Road Studios and the singer's own Los Angeles studio, Classic Diamonds is equal parts retrospective and reinterpretation as he revisits 14 of his best known songs with assistance from the London Symphony Orchestra. Playing with an orchestra is nothing new for Diamond; brass and strings have been a defining characteristic of his music since the late 1960s, both on-stage and in the studio. To that end, it's almost surprising that a symphonic reimagining of his hits doesn't already exist. Still, with a catalog as deep as Diamond's, it's hard to fault him for playing to his strengths and at 79, he still brings a remarkable amount of emotion and an easy warmth to the experience.

Zoli Teglas has been the voice of melodic hardcore band Ignite for 25 years, recently left the band to pursue his passions in music

Teglas has also been the frontman for the bands Pennywise and the Misfits. Teglas, also, has an excellent resume of acting in Hollywood movies (Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), The Alienist (TV series - 2020), Spectral (2016), Tyrant (TV series - 2015, 2016), Argo 2 (2015).

Now Zoli shows another exciting facet of his personality with the launch of his brand new US Alternative Rockband, OCEAN HILLS. "These songs come From the heart".

Marathon was formed in 2019 by Mark Kelly, the keyboard player with Marillion. Together with Guy Vickers, Oliver M. Smith (vocalist), Pete 'Woody' Wood (guitar,) John Cordy (guitar), Henry Rogers (drums) and his nephew Conal Kelly (bass), Mark Kelly turned his vision into reality.
