Many people believe that bleeding after intercourse is a sign of virginity because it proves that the hymen ‑- a thin, fleshy membrane that partially covers the vaginal opening ‑- "broke." But not all women bleed the first time they have sex. Not only can hymen tissue simply stretch during penetration, rather than tear and bleed, but it is also very common for the hymen to rip before a woman ever has sex. So, while a man might assume that a woman who bleeds after sex is a virgin, the only way for him to know for sure is if she tells him.

For others, using tampons or inserting fingers does not interfere with the tissue at all. Anecdotal evidence also supports the idea that it's possible to tear or stretch the hymen during non-sexual strenuous activity (such as horseback riding, gymnastics, or dance) or from trauma directly to the vaginal area. There are also women whose hymen tissue is so flexible that it moves aside during penetration.

Different shapes and sizes

Most hymens don't fully cover the vaginal entry so that menstrual fluid can leave the body. In rare instances, the hymen can be thick, covering the entire vaginal opening (an imperforate hymen). This kind of hymen may not allow a woman to menstruate, have penetration during sexual activity, or have anything inserted into her vagina. Often, a health care provider can correct this with a simple incision. However, if there's cyclic build up of the uterine lining, but no menstrual flow, the vagina will fill with blood that can back up into the uterus, and a provider may need to be seen immediately.

Mystery of women's bodies
The physiological purpose of the hymen is one of the eternal mysteries of women's bodies. Although it doesn't seem to have a specific function, it's thought that hymen tissue remains as a vestige of vaginal development. Embryologically, it tended to keep germs and dirt out of the vagina.

In infants and children, the hymen can serve a protective purpose by helping to prevent things from being pushed into the vagina; sometimes, a damaged hymen is looked at as an indicator of abuse and incest.

Throughout history, there have been cultures that forbid sexual activity outside of marriage; some of these have considered an "intact" hymen "proof" of purity. This connection continues to have a psychological and cultural impact today.

Bueno como me hacia viejo esperando la traduccion me toco leer esa cosa con mi malisimo ingles e interpretar lo que a dura penas entendi.

Mas que todo se trata de que el Himen (Comunmente aceptado como indicador de virginidad) puede no serlo tanto, pues existen algunos himen que se rompen facilmente con tampones, gimnacia o con montar a caballo, en el otro extremo de la cuerda hay algunas mujeres que conservan el himen intacto incluso despues de haber sostenido relaciones sexuales con penetracion.

tambien se hace aclaraciones sobre que es un misterio que funcion tiene el himen en el cuerpo femenino, posiblemente es solo un vestigio del desarrollo embrionario o algo asi.

Creo que formulé mal la pregunta, sin embargo fui específico con algo...

ya habíamos hablado de la fisionomía de la "virginidad", no recuerdo si en este topic o en otro...

Puede sonar un poco tonto, pero pienso que así como los camellos dejan huellas en la arena y los criminales dejan vestigios de su personalidad delictiva, todos mostramos rasgos que le permiten a otros ver nuestras intenciones, nuestras características...

Con el tiempo -por ejemplo- he aprendido a ver el tipo de personas que ante las situaciones más adversas son capaces de vender a la mamá, sólo por sobrevivir... (ejemplo inespecífico)
