All previously had been in the last version of the band American Tears (releasing three albums on Columbia Records). Touch's first album was released on Atco in the U.S. and Ariola in Europe and their first singles, "Don't You Know What Love Is" and "When The Spirit Moves You" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Don't You Know What Love Is" was played heavily on AOR stations in the USA at the end of the 1970s and early '80's, and also did well in the Melody Maker chart in Great Britain. Touch was the first band to play at the inaugural Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington in 1980. A live version of "Don't You Know What Love Is" appeared on the compilation LP Monsters of Rock, documenting performances at the festival. Known for their memorable and diverse songs, stellar musicianship, lush vocal harmonies and dynamic stage performance, Touch is invariably on the list of TOP AOR Bands and their album is considered by many to be among the best AOR Melodic Rock albums of all time. I thought he might be interested, mainly because the original quality of recording was so good. Furthermore, it fell within the parameters of quality that Stockfisch demand from all of their recordings, so we decided to go ahead with the idea, releasing it on the "Analog Pearls" series. How the original recording came to be; In the early 80's the standard of vinyl for LPs was bad, as most vinyl was re-cycled which meant it had inherent noise. I decided that the only way to make sure the recordings and pressings were of the quality I wanted was to form my own company, and "go it alone". I had compromised enough, and I decided that I would strive for perfection at every stage of producing an album. I chose the best studio in the north of England, the best cutting studio in Britain and the best pressing plant. When I contacted Nimbus about pressing my album, they said that they would only press records of Classical Music, to which I replied, I would pay whatever their price was. Consequently, my album was the first non-classical record to be pressed by Nimbus. We recorded and mixed the album from 7th to 13th of September 1984. Most of the recording was "live", with only the harmony vocals over-dubbed (apart from a few keyboard overdubs). It is almost forty years since that original recording, and although much has changed as regards recording techniques and equipment, I hope the songs have stood the test of time, and you, the listener, will enjoy the result. It makes sense, given the meaning of the made-up title: "Transphobia, biphobia, homophobia-these words hold a weight of threat, and it occurred to me that ... the fears they describe are rooted in a fear of change," Rostam has said. It's almost like as if this record is a map for getting to a new, more open way of thinking, being, living. "Don't wanna be pretty like a girl/ I think I'm pretty much your boy," he sings on the perky "4Runner," an ode to road tripping and finding cooperation in love. The manic rhythm and big-shouldered baritone sax-an interesting new signature for Rostam after a long embrace of cello and harpsichord-of "Kinney" is a rousing push-and-pull against the somnambulistic lyrics: "In your car I fall asleep/ pass out in the front seat/ on the pavement I was half alive/ half ocean, half sky/ half shore, half tide." The record also sometimes feels as if it's not of this world. "These Kids We Knew" starts off sounding underwater, comes more clearly into focus, then continues to bob in and out. Written in a "fever-dream state" while recovering from COVID, the song is about Gen Z putting older generations on trial for not caring enough about global warming and the problems they piled on. "Next Thing" is like a collision of two worlds: It warps abruptly from bouncy NYC jazz pop, with Rostam about to break into knowing laughter ("What makes you think you're any better/ 'Cause you're not/ take a seat and a slot/ on the bus heading West"), into a languid Pacific dream: "The next thing I knew I was in California / It didn't feel strange at all/ Everybody said/ 'I've got to warn you, you won't be back next fall.'" It's absolutely lovely. "From the Back of a Cab" is glitchy and beautiful. "Unfold You"-again with that baritone sax -is breathy, sexy, practically R&B. The hand drums of "Bio18" are meditative. His ability to soar through a three octave-plus range made him an in-demand instructor for aspiring vocalists of all genres of music. In 1999, Wade took over as vocalist for the reactivated Florida metallers Crimson Glory, releasing the "Astronomica" album with them. Following a tour in support of the album, the band went on hiatus; however, not being one to rest on past glories, Wade forged ahead.
