Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in Hanna, Alberta by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and then-drummer Brandon Kroeger (the current drummer of Nickelback being Daniel Adair). The band's music is most commonly classified as Post-grunge..

The band is now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Its name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his Starbucks job—he would frequently say, "Here's your nickel back".

The band is signed to EMI at home and Roadrunner Records for the rest of the world. In July 2008, the band signed with Live Nation for three touring and album cycles, with an option for a fourth cycle. The contract includes recordings, touring, merchandise and other rights.

1.Curb(1996)

Curb was the debut album by Nickelback, released in 1996. The album has quite a strong cult following. The album and title track were named for Chad Kroeger's friend, Kirby, who had sneaked out to visit his girlfriend but actually crashed his car into her car, since she also snuck out to see him, unbeknownst to him. This is also the reason for the wrecked car image on the original version of the album, and the lone road image on the re-released version. It sold 100,000 copies as an independent release. Curb was the second and only one of two albums to feature lead singer Chad Kroeger's cousin Brandon Kroeger as a drummer. He can also be seen in the music video for the single of this album "Fly". When the album was re-released in 2002, it charted on Billboard 200 albums chart at #182.

2.The State(199

The State, released in 1998, is the second album released by the band Nickelback. "Leader of Men" was the lead single from this album and "Old Enough" was the next single followed by "Breathe" and "Worthy to Say". It held a peak position of #130 on the Billboard 200, which beat their previous album Curb's peak of #182.

3.Silver Side Up(2001)

Silver Side Up is the third studio album by Canadian alternative rock band Nickelback, released on September 11, 2001. It was the band's first album to reach #1, where it did so in Canada, Austria, Ireland , New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The album was certified 8× Platinum in Canada, 6× Platinum in the US and 3× Platinum in the UK.

The singles released from Silver Side Up were "How You Remind Me", "Too Bad" and "Never Again" – the most successful being "How You Remind Me", which reached #1 in the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts.

Silver Side Up has sold 5,368,459 copies in the US as of January 24, 2009.

4.The Long Road(2003)

The Long Road is the fourth album by Canadian hard rock band Nickelback.

All songs were written and performed by Nickelback. It was released on September 23, 2003. All lyrics are by Chad Kroeger, except for "Someday" which was written by Ryan Peake, Chad Kroeger and Mike Kroeger.

It is their band's last album to feature Ryan Vikedal as drummer.

The Long Road was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA in March 2005 and has sold 3,459,329 copies as of January 24, 2009.

Country music singer Travis Tritt released a cover version of the album cut "Should've Listened" on his August 2007 album, The Storm.

5.All The Right Seasons(2005)

All the Right Reasons is the fifth studio album by the Canadian post-grunge/hard rock band Nickelback, released on October 4, 2005. It is the first album without the original drummer Ryan Vikedal and the first to feature his replacement, Daniel Adair. All lyrics were written by Chad Kroeger and all the music is by Nickelback, except for the limited release bonus track "We Will Rock You". All the Right Reasons is dedicated to Darrell "Dimebag" Abbot, who is also featured in the song "Side of a Bullet".

All the Right Reasons has sold 7,054,290 copies in the US as of January 24, 2009. The album was the third straight No. 1 album for the band in their native Canada, selling more than 60,000 copies in its first week topping their previous albums Silver Side Up and The Long Road which also hit No. 1, Silver Side Up opened with 43,000 copies and The Long Road with 45,000 copies. In the United States the album to date has sold over 7 million copies and was found again inside the top 10 of the Billboard 200 in its 99th, 100th, 101st, and 102nd weeks on the chart. The album had never been below #30 on the Billboard 200 in 110 weeks,[1] making Nickelback the first act to have an album in the top thirty of the Billboard 200 for its first 100 weeks since Shania Twain's Come on Over stayed in the top thirty for 123 consecutive weeks following its release. Billboard magazine called All the Right Reasons "the biggest rock album of the century so far."

In addition the album has spawned five top twenty Hot 100 singles in the U.S., ("Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared", and "Rockstar"), making it one of only a handful of rock albums to ever produce five or more top twenty U.S. hits. "Photograph", "Far Away", and "Rockstar" were all top ten singles on the Hot 100, making Nickelback the first rock band of 2000s to have three top ten hits from the same album.

The album was certified 7x Platinum in the U.S. in October 2007, surpassing the 6x Platinum certification of Silver Side Up. In addition, it is currently the longest running album on the Billboard 200, currently in its 155th consecutive week on the chart. If the album remains on the chart one more week for its 156th week, it will mark its third year on the Billboard 200 without ever leaving the chart.

In the UK, the album opened its chart run at #13 before quickly leaving the top 75 with no top 20 singles, with "Savin' Me" being their first to miss the top 75 altogether. While being their smallest-selling UK album since Curb, it experienced, in early 2008, a resurrection due to the single "Rockstar" becoming Nickelback's highest charting single ever in the UK. The album has now outpeaked its previous peak of #13, reaching #2 and has since been certified Platinum.

6.Dark Horse(200

Dark Horse is the sixth studio album by Canadian rock band Nickelback, released on November 18, 2008 (a day earlier in Europe). The follow-up to their multi-platinum selling All the Right Reasons released in 2005, the album was co-produced by the band and Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Robert John "Mutt" Lange, famous for working with such acts as AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard and Shania Twain, and the album itself was produced entirely on FL Studio.

The first single from the album was "Gotta Be Somebody", which was released online for free download on September 29, 2008 for a strict 24-hour period. "If Today Was Your Last Day" was the originally planned lead single but was scrapped at the last minute. The track "Something in Your Mouth" became available for download from the U.S. iTunes store on October 28, and was released to U.S. rock radio as the second single from the album on December 15. It was announced in January 2009, that the album's second mainstream single (third overall) would be "I'd Come for You", with Nigel Dick having helmed the music video, which was shot in the same month.

The exclusive Wal-Mart edition of Dark Horse comes with a link to download an MP3 from their performance of "This Afternoon" on Walmart Soundcheck.

Many of the albums songs have hit the Canadian Hot 100, such as "Shakin Hands", "If Today Was Your Last Day" "I'd Come For You", "Never Gonna Be Alone" along with the 2 singles "Gotta Be Somebody" & "Something In Your Mouth".

Dark Horse was certified Platinum by the RIAA on December 9th, 2008, only 3 weeks after its North American release.
