To all of our loyal fans and friends: It is with profound sadness -- regret -- we announce that Mike Portnoy, our lifelong drummer and friend, has decided to leave Dream Theater. Mike's stature in the band has meant the world to all of us professionally, musically, and personally over the years. There is no dispute: Mike has been a major force within this band.

While it is true that Mike is choosing to pursue other ventures and challenges, we can assure you that Dream Theater will continue to move forward with the same intensity -- and in the same musical tradition -- that you have all helped make so successful, and which is truly gratifying to us.

Fans and friends: File this episode under "Black Clouds and Silver Linings." As planned, we begin recording our newest album in January 2011, and we'll follow that with a full-on world tour. "The Spirit Carries On."

All of us in Dream Theater wholeheartedly wish Mike the best on his musical journey. We have had a long and meaningful career together. It is our true hope that he finds all he is looking for, and that he achieves the happiness he deserves. He will be missed.

Devin Townsend recluta a Paul Masvidal para Deconstruction

Esta vez el genio DEVIN TOWNSEND ha reclutado a nada más y nada menos que a Paul Masvidal (CYNIC, DEATH, GORDIAN KNOT, ÆON SPOKE) para participar en su placa Deconstruction.

Previamente, Townsend ya ha reclutado a varias estrellas para sus discos, entre ellas están, Joe Duplantier (GOJIRA), Greg Puciato (THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN), Tommy Rogers (BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME) , Ihsahn(EMPEROR) y Oderus Urungus (GWAR). Devin tiene otro as bajo la manga, y se trata de Mikael Åkerfeldt (OPETH), esperemos que logre una aparición en el disco.

Detalles sobre lo nuevo de Between The Buried And Me

Between The Buried And Me editarán su nuevo disco, "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues", el próximo 12 de abril a través de Metal Blade.

El guitarrista Paul Waggoner ha dado más detalles al respecto, comentando que este nuevo disco será la primera parte de una historia conceptual de 2 discos.

“The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues” presenta dos personajes que viven en diferentes planos de existencia, separados por millones de años luz. Encontramos que cada uno se enfrenta a problemas personales similares que tiene que tener en cuenta, ambos toman decisiones que cambiará sus vidas, y quizás el rumbo del universo, para siempre.

Musicalmente suena a Between The Buried And Me. EL disco tiene partes agresivas, partes bellas, partes raras y pura cacofonia. En la "Parte 1" establecemos varios temas que, estoy seguro, van a ser rescatados en la "Parte 2", es algo que queremos hacer. Nos encanta coger ideas simples, ampliarlas y ver a donde nos llevan"
