The Waterboys Present: Rips From The Cutting Room Floor (Extras from Life, Death And Dennis Hopper) is the genre-defying companion to The Waterboys' Sun Records debut album Life, Death, and Dennis Hopper.

Written and self-produced by Mike Scott and the storied international rock band, the eclectic album is comprised of 16 all new tracks including "The Next Time I Saw Elvis", "Still Raging On", and an alternate version of "Golf, They Say".

Recorded with longtime Waterboys collaborators and an eclectic cast of contributors, the tracks pull back the curtain on the wild ride of Life, Death And Dennis Hopper while standing as essential, standalone works of musical storytelling.

Many of these songs were recorded in a burst of inspiration after Scott acquired a vintage mellotron, sparking new textures and creative momentum. "The mellotron is like an early sampler - a magic machine," Scott explains in his notes. "Once it arrived, these songs came to life."

Take early steps back to 1960s London with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Kenney Jones, Ronnie Lane and Ian McLagan to the Faces' first and previously unheard recording session at Olympic Studios in Barnes.

Early Steps', a new album with one side devoted to studio session recordings and one side to rehearsals recorded on the band's very own cassette tapes, prior to signing with Warner Bros and releasing their debut album, 'First Step,' in 1970.

Early Steps' is produced for release by Rob Caiger, with all tracks newly restored and remastered by Nick Robbins at Nick Robbins Mastering in London. The Olympic Studio tapes were transferred and mixed by Rob Keyloch and Rob Caiger; tape restoration was completed by Dave Corbettand the team at FX Copy Room and lacquers were cut by Henry Rudkins at AIR Studios in London.
