Specific topics have been agreed upon before... but they occur only in the context of THIS thread. It's not like there are sub-forums where English can have its place. It should have one, though.

What about the administrators? Does any of them use English? What do you think their say would be?

For starters, how about just discussing a topic? Let us say...

1. Experience in learning English.
2. Swear words in English or slang we may know and teach each other.

I just found this thread.
to be fair I have only read a few pages but from what I gather it was mostly about people practicing the language and some others correcting them

I agree there needs to be some corrections if someone is lacking in their writing but I also think that it kills the thread when all you read is what seems to be put downs

people stop contributing and just stop coming in altogether because there is no direction either

I think more than picking a specific topic there should be subtopics where people can contribute in different areas being politics, society, technology, sports, economy and such

this has potential people, all we need is to move forward with it

very soon the language will come
nothing better to practice reading and writing and speaking than being able to interact with other and this is an excellent medium

lets take advantage of that and enjoy the thread

if anyone has any questions please go ahead and ask, I am sure there are a few people willing to lend a hand and help out

I know I am

I will leave it as that for the time being and see what the reaction of the people is before continue rambling hahaha
looking forward to seeing this topic revived

I think thats the reason this thread is dead

there is no clear objective of what the thread is for

what would you like it to be?

do you like sports?

that could be our first try...

another thing we could talk about is the English proficiency tests such as TOEFL, Itep, Mellicet, IELTS, etc

Sorry for being off-topic but i'm angry against my (french) parliament today, they just voted a law that gives the government the right to blacklist any website they want on the internet, just like in China and Iran. Officially it is to fight against paedophilia and cyber-criminality, but in fact they are fighting against internet's wonderful freedom of speech.

I hope this government will go away in 2012 and that the left party takes their place :angry4:

The news in english (I hope other democratic countries will not take France as an example for this ! )

Cita:

"A new episode in French internet legislation — French ministers have passed a bill (original in French) allowing the government to add any website to a black list, which access providers will have to enforce. This black list will be defined by the government only, without requiring the intervention of the legal system. Although originally intended against pedo-pornographic websites, this bill is already outdated, as was Hadopi in its time, and instead paves the way for a global censorship of the 'French internet.'"

sadly, I think the whole world is thinking toward that kind of laws against the internet freedom.

btw... I just made this suggestion (http://www.denunciando.com/sugerenci...ugerencia.html) and gladly they are going for it, so, hopefully it will help us to increase the participation in English on this website
