Hi Alexander and Deathmask...

Can I ask you guys a question?

I wonder what are the safest cities and the more dangerous cities among this 3 cities: Bogota Cali and Medellin?

Is Cali safer than Medellin for example? Is it really dangerous? I would like to move to Colombia for a few months one day, and Cali seems to have a very warm weather, very sunny, less rainy than Medellin, I like this kind of weather I think.

(and do you know if there are opportunities for teaching french in these cities?)

Hi Wilco...

Well, I will say that Cali is a little more safer than Medellin, but that's because I only have lived in Cali for the past five years and never be assaulted. But I have to say (with a face of ashamed) that every city has its own level of insecurity.

All you have to do it's to be sure where you can go, with who and what not to do, so you don't "give papaya" (thats what we say when you are giving oportunity to someone else to take advantage from you)

About the oportunity to teach french, its possible and you can do it in the French Culture House (for example), because I don't know where else you can do it...

I hope I solve your questions and you get everything, and if there's something else you want to knwo, I will be glad to help you...

greetings...

Thank you very much for your answer DeathMask, actually what you're telling me is matching the feeling that I had about Cali reading several websites on the internet. Medellin seems to be a little more dangerous than Cali....

¡Hi!. Wilco.

I want to tell you that Medellín is not only violence (Many people have a wrong view about Colombia, especially about Medellín).

All my life I have lived in Medellín and I don't have many complaints. I recommend you to visit our city and you will see all the good things that we have.
The weather in Medellín is good (for me). At the moment we're having days very sunny.

If you want to looking for a job, you should go to "
Alliance Française", "Blendex" or "University of Antioquia", those are the places where they teach french here in Medellín. Maybe you can found a oportunity to work.

Bye. Greetings from Medellín - Colombia.

Hi Alexander

Thanx for your answer. Believe me I'm aware that the situation in Colombia is not what it used to be, but how could I say that... I grew up in a rather "safe" environment, probably safer than medellin, the fact is that I know what to do in France to avoid problems, its different when you are a stranger, sometimes you don't have the common sense recquired to be safe, what things or places or people to avoid... you see what I mean?

But thank you for your answer, Medellin seems to be a great place too ! If I'm going to Colombia it will not be before the end of this year because I have things to do in France... (and I need money LOL)

Maybe Colombia changed too rapidly for the mass media to take notice, it will come slowly but surely. Cities such à Chicago or Washington in the USA might be more dangerous than Medellin...
