If you really want to see a movie that gives you the inside dope on the European "white slave" trade you should definitely, uh, see a different movie. The main point of this movie is obviously TITilation and crASSness, not hard-hitting realism. The ridiculous plot has pretty, middle-class Caucasian girls (college students, runaways etc.) being kidnapped right of the streets of Zurich and Montreal(!), and after being beaten, raped, and hooked on heroin, they are sent to Amsterdam to work as zombified strippers and prostitutes in a nightclub called the Moulin Rouge. Now, of course, in real life there are plenty of girls already IN Amsterdam, who are more than willing to work as strippers and prostitutes (and that have gotten addicted to drugs all by themselves), so this plot is completely ridiculous. And it sure doesn't help that one of the kidnappers in the English-version I saw was dubbed by a Cary Grant impersonator. (Imagine Cary Grant delivering this line in his patrician English accent: "We're going to deliver this sweet little package to Amsterdam, but first we're going to unwrap it and have a little fun. Ha! Ha! Ha!")

This review is of the German DVD from ABC, from their "Erotic Classics" series. (and coming from someone who has a strong dislike for porn films!) I began watching "Gefangene Frauen" (Caged Women) with absolutely no expectations. I was surprised to find that, for what it is, it delivers what it promises, and what one would expect from this genre of film. The simplistic story deals with a group of girls being kidnapped by soldiers, from a whorehouse, of all places. The girls are taken to a mysterious prison located on a beautiful island. Of course this is all an excuse to show a lot of sex and nudity.

"Barbed Wire Dolls" has to be one of the sleaziest Women in Prison epics ever created. This is Franco's first film for Swiss producer Erwin C.Dietrich and it offers tons of nudity and sleaze. A beautiful Maria(Lina Romay) is imprisoned in a penitentiary run by a cruel lesbian warden (Monica Swinn). She is accused of murdering her father (played by Jesus Franco himself) but the wardress actually did the deed. Once in prison, Maria is tortured by being tied nude to metal bed-frame which is hooked up to electrical current. "Barbed Wire Dolls" is as sleazy as they get. The film features incredible amount of sleaze including whippings, masturbation with a cigarette, lesbian sex scenes, rape and a close up of one of the inmate's private parts being penetrated by a guard's fingers. The acting is actually not bad and the film is never boring. So if you're a fan of European exploitation give this dirty classic a look.

The first film was somewhat controversial and labeled pornographic by some due to its exploitive nudity and sexuality involving a teenage girl. Oedipus Orca begins with her return home. The exploitive side as the film series continues as she is nude every few minutes. She once again uses sex to her advantage against a family friend. This movie has lots of flashbacks to the first film and deals with her emotional state a lot. The most memorable is when she visits the room she was held captive in and masturbates while recalling having sex with her captor. It makes as strong a statement as I can think of, of how the mind can be twisted by such a situation. NOTE: the credits are cut off at the end of this film.

Several attractive porn stars have been invited to join the cast of what is sure to be an event picture in the porn industry. The mysterious director is in disguise, but nobody seems to mind. As the scenes play out (both on the set and off) there is a sense of optimism in the air. The actors are enthusiastic (two may actually be falling in love) and the goofy crew members are pleased with their work. There is one problem: a masked killer is on set and steadily killing off the talent. Porn Shoot Massacre is a title that is almost critic-proof. Nobody watching this should be expecting Kubrick. Terrible actors wander around cheap sets under the direction of a man wearing the worst disguise in years. The film is more focused on character than plot, which is a nice change of pace. The script may not be the strongest, but the writing attempts to bring some depth. The film is strongest when it mocks the ultra low budget world that has spawned it. There is ample nudity, as there should be with this title, and the ladies seem quite comfortable in the silly scenarios that even include a little person in a king-sized three-way. The actresses are quite capable of acting sexy or bitchy, but most other emotions (like fear) seem foreign. There are a few twists along the way as to who will be the Final Girl (a cheat prevents a fair guess).

This is not a documentary, it's exploitation veiled as a docudrama as were a slew of sexploitation flix back then. Sort of like a 'Mondo Cane' for the raincoat crowd, and these films were prolific at that time prior to the advent of triple X hardcore movies. As far as this slice of sleaze goes, it's fairly entertaining for those of us who were around then, and it will bore the pants off (or maybe not) anyone under 40 because it's dated, as stated by the other reviewer. But the nudity and sleaze factors are considerable, and there's a few laughs involved (though not intentionally). For fans of 60's/70's grindhouse and sexploitation, it's worth a looksee, made in the U.S.A.

Very rare non-Jess Franco Lina Romay film directed by Erwin Dietrich, Rolls Royce Baby carries a basic storyline, but its entire purpose is simply to marvel at the beauty and uninhibited abandon of the magnificent Ms. Romay, who has never looked as tantalisingly tempting as she does here. Roaming around gorgeous countryside in a chauffeur-driven vintage limousine, Lina drapes herself naked across the rear passenger upholstery, making herself available for any fortunate stray hiker the vehicle should happen to pass. Although a grim flashback scene involving a pair of unsavoury truck drivers towards the end offers a psychological explanation for Lina's nymphomania, this seems present merely to appease the conventional viewer who requires everything to be nicely spelled out, unable to handle such an abstract and star-focused approach to the art of film. For the remainder of us, this movie is like your favourite painting brought to life.

Shuji Kataoka, the man behind "Subway Serial Rape" series, directs yet another vastly entertaining flick. The main themes of pinku eiga genre are all here, mainly bondage, rape and total submission of the females. This time though they're not here only to titillate or offend potential viewers. Their other intention is to make public laugh.

The plot of "S&M Hunter" is very cartoonish, definitely manga-influenced. The character from the title, unbeatable master of the whip, is impossible to be taken seriously. His bondage mastership is so great, that he can do wonders with the rope. He ties up women in a way that makes them utterly excited, and therefore absolutely helpless. No female alive can resist him! Our hero works in the exquisite bordello, that specializes in all kinds of perversion. There's something for everyone - sadism, masochism, even paraphilia! But one of the clients is dissatisfied. It turns out that he's not really a sadist. In fact, he is gay and hates women for just one reason. The girl gang, called The Bombers, has kidnapped his partner to use and abuse as a personal sex toy. S&M Hunter gladly accepts the job to rescue the boy and punish the kidnappers. With the help of always reliable rope this task will be pure pleasure for S&M Hunter. And for all of his female opponents: pleasure mixed with pain!

The movie is traditionally short (around one hour), and filled with attractions typical for Japanese erotic cinema. There's also some Nazi imaginary (swastikas, leather gestapo uniforms, etc.) to please all the fetishists out there. One thing's for sure. We shouldn't take any of this stuff too seriously. It's just plain fun.

One curious detail: Quite probably the true message of "S&M Hunter" is the praise of homosexuality. Just check out the scene of gay lovers' happy reunion. Are we led to believe, that true and pure love can exist only between the two males?!? Or is it just another joke played on us by Shuji Kataoka?

"Red Lips" are two female detectives trying to find missing models and dancers. A pop artist called Klaus Thriller and his werewolf-like assistant, Morpho, are the main suspects for the murderers.

'Sadisterotica' (fantastic title!) isn't really your typical Jess Franco movie. Released in the same year as his classic 'Succubus', it doesn't consist of his usual blend of eroticism and horror, it is instead a campy detective comedy/thriller in the vein of 'Modesty Blaise' or Mario Bava's 'Diabolik'. Fans of Matt Helm and Austin Powers will dig it.

Two beautiful detectives Diana ('Succubus' star Janine Reynaud) and Regina (Rosanna Yanni) operate under the pseudonym "Red Lips", with a lipstick kiss as their trade mark. While investigating the disappearance of a woman they stumble across a series of abductions/possible murders, which appear to be linked to the mysterious eye-patch wearing artist Klaus Tiller, and his hirsute, werewolf-like assistant Morpho. (Adrian Hoven and Michel Lemoine, both also from 'Succubus'). The pair attempt to earn their clients' fee, catch the baddies, and simultaneously evade capture themselves by the police.

You get the idea that this film is all over the place. It does strangely keep your interest though because you never have ANY IDEA what's going to happen next (all the sex and nudity helps a lot too, of course). It also seems to be some kind of strange male fantasy where completely unattractive, unsuccessful, and unambitious guys get to sexually use and abuse gorgeous women, and they love them for it. Actually this might be halfway plausible with the two sisters, who are both pretty ordinary looking, but girls like Lindberg and the blonde at the party are stunning beauties who could obviously do A LOT better. Still who knows what Sweden was like during the 1970's sexual revolution--maybe this film is entirely accurate.

Six Swedes On Campus? Well, no Swedes here, but they're on campus. Erwin Dietrich scores again with this sexy and fantasy-filled take on Girls School antics. Brigitte Lahaie shines, as usual, and the other cast members play their parts with gusto: any excuse to get naked, and they get naked! The libidinous female teacher gives some memorable "health" classes (on exploring their own bodies, etc.), pillow-fights in the dorm, voyeurism, even nude butterfly-catching! The copy I saw was a rental; there were a few harsh edits in the transfer, but I doubt that this film went beyond softcore. Definitely worth seeing, especially for those fans of wall-to-wall nudity and cheesy voice-overs.

A man is doing research on an island where a strange tribe lives. The man's wife gets into a (sexual) relationship with a woman from the tribe and brings her back to the big city where problems begin to occur.
This is an example of small, kind of unofficial genre in 1970's Italian exploitation films, which might be called the "black sexploitation film" (not to be confused with American "blaxploitation" films). These films generally traded in exotic travel, lots of interracial sexual couplings, and (in their most potentially offensive aspect) the myth of "primitive" black sexuality. Director/cinematographer Joe D'Amato was one of the masters of this "genre", having been the driving force behind the "Black Emanuelle" series. D'Amato's most frequent actress in these softcore extravaganzas, Laura Gemser, actually looked a lot more Asian than "black", but these films also featured plenty of white European women like Karin Schubert, Ely Galeani, and the star of this film, Nieves Navarro, getting down and dirty with the dark-skinned "natives". This movie is most similar to D'Amato's "Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals" and "Papaya of the Caribbean", but while it has plenty of sex, for better or worse, it is nowhere near as violent as either of those movies.
