A masterpiece of Japanese 70s sexploitation and a pinnacle film of the Japanese Pink Violence era and no doubt influential on a host of films which came after it. This film is unique in so many ways. Reiko Ike is just gorgeous as Ocho, the Female Yakuza who not only kicks ass.. but kicks it while she's totally nude as we see in the highlight fight scene of the film shot in and outside of a Haiku House in the snow. Sound familiar? Think Kill Bill. The characters are all slick and seedy, some seem to be taken right out of a comic book. The photography is well mastered. The fighting choreography is great, the scenes are ultra violent with blood spraying action and a bevy of erotic sex. Recommended for any fan of Asian sexploitation and martial arts violence. The follow up film to this is Female Yakuza Tale.. which I also recommend for even more over the top sex and sword sport.

"The Pussycat Syndrome" is terrific fun, an exploitation film that is highly enjoyable from beginning to end that does not insult the intelligence of the viewer. Ajita Wilson and Tina Eklund are a perfect pair of opposites cast as fashion models who, in between assignments, decide to travel around sunny Greece, picking up male hitchhikers, swimming nude, meeting a rich man and his frigid artist wife and having a torrid lesbian three-way with the aforementioned wife, suddenly no longer frigid -- the usual antics one would expect in Greece. There's also a beauty contest in which Ms. Wilson is a shoo-in while Ms. Eklund spends 90 percent of the film stark naked, and boy does she look terrific this way! Both actresses turn in effortlessly good performances. Clearly they were having fun during the filming. There are two hardcore scenes in the uncut version of the film,

Most people that see this film use the word 'nonsense' to describe it and it's not hard to see why. The Reincarnation of Isabel utilises the age-old horror plot line of a witch being brought back to life; but unlike other films of it's ilk, this one jumps straight in at the reincarnation stage; thus forsaking any explanation as to why the witch was exterminated, and why there are people that want to bring her back. These things are explained somewhat a bit later on; and it's these scenes of 'explanation' that really highlight this film's problem. It's practically impossible to differentiate the flashback sequences from the main action, and if it wasn't for the fact that the woman about to be burnt at the stake was called Isabel, the audience would be none the wiser as to what is actually going on. The film features many scenes that appear to be completely random - some of them may be flashbacks explaining the story, I don't know! However, one thing that I do know is that this isn't a story based film - and when it comes to pure Eurotrash, this film excels!

Lina Romay is found, naked and bloody in a luxurious house and is promptly taken to a mental institute. The doctors and nurses meant to take care of her aren't exactly who they seem and a mysterious figure, clad in black, circles the premise at night, offing nubile young women. Who is it and why is he/she doing it, and why is Lina Romay always close-by witnessing it when it happens? Franco raises a lot of interesting questions that keeps the viewer intrigued for the duration of the feature presentation. Franco this time incorporated some thriller/slasher elements and made the film all the better for it. Acting-wise it's pretty much business as usual - bad! But the girls are beautiful and naked... and let's face it, that's what these productions were all about. The photography is simply stunning, although a few instances can be seen where there seems to be vaseline smeared on the lens of the camera, but it really isn't distracting. An entertaining little Franco-gem. Sure, it's mainly for the fans but if you're looking for a way into the Franco universe, this is as good a place to start as any...

If any Jess Franco films truly lives up to its title that would be “Sex in Crazy�. This film is definitely crazy and not just because the mixing of sex with aliens. The film opens and ends with Lina Romay’s character being screwed by aliens while an audience is watching. The plot as it progresses then reveals that is was all a stage show. The bulk of the film focuses around two couples made up swingers and their sexual adventures. Then Franco shifts back to the weird alien vibe he started with only to briefly abandon it until the films ending which involves those pesky aliens. So where their aliens or where they just a figment of Lina Romay’s character’s imagination. The film never makes clear what is real and what is not. So I guess we will never known truth behind the aliens’ mission. Even with a plot that is a schizophrenic as Sex is Crazy the film still bears enough of Franco’s style to make the journey all worthwhile.

Caleb, "son of nobody" (Enrico Montesano) lives in Galilee in Jesus' day and struggles as a thief and con-man, pretending to be a magician. When he witnesses Jesus turning water into wine, he thinks he's found a competitor. So Caleb goes on, convinced that Jesus is a fake just as he is, always trying to figure out his tricks. In the meantime, he gets involved with a prostitute (played by Edwige Fenech), but also with the wife of a Roman patrician (played by the equally alluring Bernadette Lafont), he steals a few goats and cons a few people, he befriends a lovable dog and gets in trouble with some Roman soldiers. In the end, he is convicted for theft and crucified, ending up on Jesus' right. Manages to steal a necklace and then lose it and find Deborah with whom he shared his life. Always fascinated by the figure of Christ, continue to believe that a magician cleverer than him, will end on the cross with him an old man accused of theft. So, it's kinda like "Life of Brian", only with italians.

Franco makes the most of the obviously low budget. The scenery is beautifully filmed, and by scenery I speak of the beautiful surroundings of the villa where the film was shot (i.e., the ocean, mountains, etc.), the decor of the villa (the hanging beads, room dividers, and window shots), and of course the usually nude actors engaged in (usually) a threesome of passion and lust that is evil yet somehow life-affirming. Franco's long camera takes, some lasting ten minutes or more, are perfectly executed and demonstrate that he is not the clunky, zoom-lens-using maniac as is his reputation. The very attractive cast perform their roles well and the dialog sequences, what few there are, are so sincerely portrayed that the biting, inhuman dialog is alternately erotic and frightening. The torture death of the servant is violently erotically charged, and the lust-filled, three-way orgy that follows is akin to a literary masterpiece written in moans and writhing bodies. The Marquis de Sade would be very proud, and anyone should be proud to view this adults-only drama.

Starting as a documentary on the sexually liberated culture of late-Sixties Denmark, Sexual Freedom in Denmark winds up incorporating major elements of the marriage manual form and even manages to squeeze in a montage of beaver loops and erotic art. All narrated with earnest pronouncements concerning the social and psychological benefits of sexual liberation, the movie, is a kind of mondo film dotted with occasional glimpses of actual sex. Tame by the standards of 1971, when adult loops and features would begin to flood certain metropolitan markets, the film was shocking enough in 1970 to instigate media attention and long lines at the box office.

He eventually seeks Princess Carolyne of St. Petersburg (at her invitation), elopes, and, after their marriage is forbidden by the Pope, he embraces the monastic life as an abbé.

Inquisition (1976)

Paul Naschy's directorial debut amazingly emerged to be superior to most of his work for other film-makers. Thematically, it amalgamates WITCHFINDER GENERAL (1968) with THE DEVILS (1971): Naschy is the appointed Inquisitor who falls under the spell of a local girl (Italian starlet Daniela Giordano from Mario Bava's atypical FOUR TIMES THAT NIGHT [1969] and who, in a recent interview for the "Stracult" TV program, singled out the Naschy film as her personal favorite!). He has her lover killed (intermittently depicted as in a Sergio Leone picture, with harmonica accompaniment intact!) – though, in an online review, it is stated that he was not responsible after all?! – but is eventually brought before the court himself for associating with a sorceress. In fact, Giordano has sold her soul to the Devil (seen in effectively grotesque make-up not unlike that of a villain from some contemporaneous anime[!] and, reportedly, played by the star himself) and deliberately given in to her leading man's advances in order to bring him down!! At one point, he is haunted by the vision of a scythe-wielding Death but, since she ends up sharing his fate, one supposes the girl is ultimately disillusioned by her twisted beliefs – while, ironically enough, Naschy acquires grace through martyrdom!

It features the original appearance of the Piero Umiliani's nonsense song "Mah NÃ* Mah NÃ*" which was later popularized by "Sesame Street" and "The Muppet Show".

Starting as a documentary on the sexually liberated culture of late-Sixties Denmark, Sexual Freedom in Denmark winds up incorporating major elements of the marriage manual form and even manages to squeeze in a montage of beaver loops and erotic art. All narrated with earnest pronouncements concerning the social and psychological benefits of sexual liberation, the movie, is a kind of mondo film dotted with occasional glimpses of actual sex. Tame by the standards of 1971, when adult loops and features would begin to flood certain metropolitan markets, the film was shocking enough in 1970 to instigate media attention and long lines at the box office.

A send-up of the bawdy life of Romantic composer/piano virtuoso Franz Liszt, with ubiquitous phallic imagery and a good portion of the film devoted to Liszt's "friendship" with fellow composer Richard Wagner. The film begins during the time when Franz would give piano performance to a crowd of shrieking teenage fans while maintaining affairs with his (multiple!) mistresses. He eventually seeks Princess Carolyne of St. Petersburg (at her invitation), elopes, and, after their marriage is forbidden by the Pope, he embraces the monastic life as an abbé.

A fleeing felon believes he sees a body being buried in the garden of a Swiss villa one night just before his arrest. Thirteen years later, he's released from prison and comes back, thinking he can blackmail the three people there: a governess and her son, and the daughter of the missing (and presumed dead) owner of the estate. The daughter rules the roost. She may also be unhinged, going into murderous trances when men take her in their arms. Men menace women; sexual assaults are close at hand.
