Based on the erotic novel by Henry Miller, QUIET DAYS IN CLICHY achieved notoriety when banned in the UK on its release in 1970. The film focuses on the lives of Joey, an unsuccessful writer and his roommate Carl, whose carefree lives are full of wanton women, affairs and orgies on the streets of a decadent Paris. Admidst their outrageous erotic adventures--deemed "morally offensive" by the Catholic Bishops Board Of Review, and seized in 1970 by the US government on charges of obscenity, the pair encounter prostitutes, a runaway and a beautiful Scandinavian. Despite the fact that all charges were eventually dropped, the film mysteriously disappeared shortly after its release.
