Durante la ocupaci?n de Bagdad en 2003 por tropas extranjeras, mayormente estadounidenses, al subteniente Roy Miller (Matt Damon) y a su equipo de inspectores les encomiendan la misi?n de recorrer el desierto en busca de armas de destrucci?n masiva supuestamente almacenadas all?. Registran escondite tras escondite, a cual m?s peligroso, pero en vez de letales agentes qu?micos, descubren un elaborado plan que da la vuelta al prop?sito de su misi?n.

Rodeado de agentes con objetivos contradictorios, Miller debe abrirse camino entre una mara?a de esp?as en un pa?s desconocido mientras intenta encontrar respuestas que quiz? sirvan para salvar a un gobierno o para extender la guerra en una regi?n muy inestable. No tardar? en descubrir que, en un momento dif?cil y en una regi?n explosiva, el arma m?s dif?cil de encontrar es la verdad.
