El 2 de marzo de 2008 se lanzó el disco Ghosts I-V en la página oficial del grupo. Este disco cuenta con 36 temas instrumentales licenciados bajo Creative Commons. El álbum fue creado y producido durante 10 semanas del otoño de 2007 (hemisferio norte) y no se publicó información al respecto antes de su lanzamiento.
De acuerdo a Reznor, existe la posibilidad de que hayan más producciones similares en el futuro.
