Tom Penaguin is a French progressive rock artist and multi-instrumentalist from Rennes, Brittany, who has been sharing music with the world since 2012, starting with song covers on YouTube before moving on to play guitar in psychedelic rock and metal bands including Orgöne (from 2014 to 2015) and Djiin (from 2015 onward) and creating a solo album under the pseudonym Captain Blind Chameleon in 2020, followed by another one under his real name (2022's "Soundtrack for Places I've Never Been, Vol. 1": a conceptual work consisting of drums and synth only) and finally a self-titled one which he considers to be his true debut: "Tom Penaguin" was released in 2024 on the Spanish ÀMarxe label (to which he had gotten signed with the help of Zopp's Ryan Stevenson) but contains music which had been composed as far back as 2018 and which Penaguin began to record in 2020. The album, which was recorded entirely with vintage equipment, shows a strong compositional and timbral influence from the classic Canterbury scene and has been described as an homage to Egg, National Health and Igor Stravinsky.
