Mathieu Amalric gives us some generous views of his "private part" in this movie... Hmmm... If any Jess Franco films truly lives up to its title that would be “Sex in Crazy�. This film is definitely crazy and not just because the mixing of sex with aliens. The film opens and ends with Lina Romay’s character being screwed by aliens while an audience is watching. The plot as it progresses then reveals that is was all a stage show. The bulk of the film focuses around two couples made up swingers and their sexual adventures. Then Franco shifts back to the weird alien vibe he started with only to briefly abandon it until the films ending which involves those pesky aliens. So where their aliens or where they just a figment of Lina Romay’s character’s imagination. The film never makes clear what is real and what is not. So I guess we will never known truth behind the aliens’ mission. Even with a plot that is a schizophrenic as Sex is Crazy the film still bears enough of Franco’s style to make the journey all worthwhile.

Louis, The Marquis de Sade (Keir Dullea) lives in prison, dreaming of his past both as it happened and in imagined fantasy plays where he's tormented by the ghost of his evil uncle, the Abbe de Sade (John Huston). Indoctrinated at an early age in the possibilities of sex and cruelty by his uncle, Louis is tricked into a wedding with the homely Renee de Montreuil (Anna Massey) by her conniving mother (Lilli Palmer), when he thought he was to marry her younger, dreamboat sister Anne (Senta Berger). Anne becomes a representative of the 'moment of reality' that the Marquis seeks throughout his debauched life, ignoring his wife and outraging his family with his scandals of sex laced with wanton cruelty. Periodically imprisoned by his own relatives, he is finally put away for good when framed for the murder of Anne, who actually died of the plague. He's still seeking the mystery of his life as a feeble old man who can't even rise from his prison cot.

Caleb, "son of nobody" (Enrico Montesano) lives in Galilee in Jesus' day and struggles as a thief and con-man, pretending to be a magician. When he witnesses Jesus turning water into wine, he thinks he's found a competitor. So Caleb goes on, convinced that Jesus is a fake just as he is, always trying to figure out his tricks. In the meantime, he gets involved with a prostitute (played by Edwige Fenech), but also with the wife of a Roman patrician (played by the equally alluring Bernadette Lafont), he steals a few goats and cons a few people, he befriends a lovable dog and gets in trouble with some Roman soldiers. In the end, he is convicted for theft and crucified, ending up on Jesus' right. Manages to steal a necklace and then lose it and find Deborah with whom he shared his life. Always fascinated by the figure of Christ, continue to believe that a magician cleverer than him, will end on the cross with him an old man accused of theft. So, it's kinda like "Life of Brian", only with italians.

Merrick . Roadshown for years as part of a double-feature with Inyaah (Jungle Goddess) (which was also called "Virgin of Sarawak" and later "Jungle Virgin" and "Strange Adventures") with the result that "Inyaah" also carries "Forbidden Adventure, 1938" as an incorrect alternate title in some quarters.
