Andreas Preuninger, manager of Porsche High Performance Cars, has confirmed that a new GT2 RS will probably arrive in 2018 at the very end of the updated 991’s life cycle. Why will this be awesome? Just look back at the 997-based GT2 RS. That sucker had 611 hp coming from a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six. Total curb weight was just 3,170 pounds. Production was limited to just 500 examples, and was considered to be the most extreme and powerful street car Porsche ever built. We’re thrilled round two is still in the game plan.
