About:

British prog rockers IQ will release their first ever Blu-ray, Scrape Across The Sky, on 21 January.

Filmed in 5.1 surround sound and stereo at Holland's The Boerderij venue in December 2014, the live document captures the band on their Road Of Bones tour, and features every track from the first disc of that album, as well as a host of other live IQ favourites.

Scrape Across The Sky also features over three hours of extra features, including encores of Ten Million Demons and Widow's Peak, all the live projections the band use accompanied by the live audio, Until The End recorded at Lorelei's Night Of The Prog festival in 2014, a photo gallery, and vocalist Peter Nicholls in conversation with the band's graphic artist Tony Lythgoe. The Blu-ray has been produced by Michael Holmes and engineered by Rob Aubrey.

IQ will perform their now legendary Christmas shows to celebrate the band's 35th Anniversary in December. They play The Boerderij on Friday 16 December and the O2 Academy in Islington on Saturday 17 December.

• Not since Paul Simon set out to find Graceland has a musical ensemble had so fruitful a time in South Africa. What started out for Mumford & Sons as a modest plan to stage a handful of gigs for about 5,000 people, tops, became a week-long jaunt in which they performed before 85,000 adoring fans. Along the way, as the group dropped in on Cape Town (three nights at the Grand Parade), Durban and Pretoria (two nights at the Monument Amphitheatre), they also embarked on an experimental collaboration with the local musicians they toured with. Entering the studio with Baba Maal, The Very Best and Beatenberg, Mumford and co emerged, after two all-day-and-all-nighters, with the five-track mini-album Johannesburg.
• This fertile period in the band's career is captured on the live DVD Live From South Africa: Dust And Thunder. About: This Blu-ray brings together two complete performances by the Pixies from 2005, which were originally released on separate DVDs. Acoustic Live In Newport captures the band playing their first completely acoustic performance on the shores of the Atlantic in Newport, Rhode Island. It's a fascinating alternate take on 22 of the Pixie's biggest hits. Club Date: Live at The Paradise in Boston sees the Pixies return to their old stomping grounds to perform an intimate set in front of 200 diehards. As bonus material there is a "fly on the wall" featurette following the band's preparation for Newport and rare footage from October 1986 of one of the first Pixies shows shot at TT The Bear's in Boston.

• The Reflektor Tapes is a visually stunning and hypnotic documentary about the making of Arcade Fire's hugely successful 2013 studio album Reflektor by director Kahlil Joseph (who also directed Beyonce's Lemonade film). The film received its premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary captures recording sessions, live performances and the band's time in Haiti, a country with which they have a long-standing relationship. The second disc in the set features Arcade Fire's full length live concert from Earl's Court in London on June 6th, 2014 during the Reflektor tour, which perfectly complements the documentary.

• The 'The Watersound Studios Sessions' comprises a set of ANNIHILATOR's classics performed acoustically, with band leader/guitarist/ songwriter and vocalist Jeff Waters bringing together band members Aaron Homma and Richard Hinks, Vancouver drummer and friend Marc LeFrance plus Ottawa session player Pat Robillard. Recorded and mixed by Waters (with Marty Sobb), this quintet laid everything down live, off the floor and in single takes at Watersound Studios in Dunrobin, Canada during late May and early June, 2016, giving Waters one of the most challenging, satisfying and perhaps "electric" creative moments in his career.
• The 'Live At The Bang Your Head Festival' will feature ANNIHILATOR's vicious set from the 2016 Bang Your Head!!! festival, a set which illustrates the very best of what ANNIHILATOR is known for - tight, sharp, technically excellent and melodic thrash metal music. It will also contain some exclusive inside-ANNIHILATOR off-stage perspective, courtesy of Jeff Waters's own camera, which captures further elements, flavors and detail of the band which fans will flip over.
• "This was one of the coolest things I have done in my long career," says Jeff. "Having five people in a room, from all different backgrounds and talents, coming together to play songs from the past and to try to sound like we are one but totally live and with feel.
• "This was one of the biggest challenges that ANNIHILATOR has faced, musically, but what impressed me the most was how you can hear all the individual styles each player has and how we were able to glue the playing and feel together. Done all in one take and with all the musical blemishes and imperfections that I would never normally let slide!
• "This set covers some of the melodic songs, one even from 1984 (when a few of these guys were not even born!) and I just had to do this once in my life. to challenge myself and maybe show some others that it's not always just about the metal and the thrash! Rock 'n' roll and ballads are found everywhere in heavy metal.
