Ring of Fire is an American neoclassical, progressive/power metal band that formed in California in 2000. Fronted by former Yngwie J. Malmsteen and current Shining Black vocalist Mark Boals, Ring Of FIre was formed after the release of Boal's first solo album, "Ring of Fire". Ring of Fire would go on to release three studio albums between 2001 and 2004, "The Oracle", "Dreamtower", and "Lapse Of Reality", as well as a live album, "Burning Live In Tokyo 2002". Boals, along with original guitarist Tony MacAlpine and keyboardist Vitalij Kuprij returned in 2014 with their fourth studio album "Battle of Leningrad".
Now, in 2022, Boals and Kuprij are back with new partners in crime for the band's fifth studio album, "Gravity". A true return to form for the band, offering up a superb slice of Neoclassical Power Metal which will thrill long-time fans of Ring Of Fire!

Black Hole's new album "Whirlwind of Mad Men" released November 11th via Rockshots Records. The full-length presents anthemic guitar riffs, powerful rhythms, frenzied solos, and enlightening vocals, to give fans a power metal quintet that's progressive, symphonic, and strongly influenced by masters of the genre such as Stratovarius, Kamelot, Powerwolf, Nightwish, and Iron Maiden.

Black Hole's sophomore full-length "Whirlwind of Mad Men" navigates between heavy and power metal with melodies carried between the vocals and guitar solos along with being supported by solid rhythmic parts and great orchestral pieces which give intensity to the compositions. The diversity of all the songs allows listeners to travel through various atmospheres and contexts. The album's goal is to give feelings of power while mastering strong emotional moments.

The new album also features new member Christophe (keyboards/orchestrations), adding more epic and orchestrated tracks. A collaboration that promises to be more interesting than their previous record "Lost World". Mixing and mastering were helmed by Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween, Masterplan) who also added a guitar solo on the album's cover track of Iron Maiden's "Fear of the Dark".

With this new recording Galderia is not reinventing their sound or turn the melodic power metal genre on its proverbial head. Nope. What the band is doing is drawing from their greatest strengths. Use Your Illusion II is more serious and ambitious than I, but it's also considerably more pretentious. Featuring no less than four songs that run over six minutes, II is heavy on epics, whether it's the charging funk metal of "Locomotive," the antiwar "Civil War," or the multipart "Estranged." As if an attempt to balance the grandiose epics, the record is loaded with an extraordinary amount of filler. "14 Years" may have a lean, Stonesy rhythm, and Duff McKagan's Johnny Thunders homage, "So Fine," may be entertaining, but there's no forgiving the ridiculous "Get in the Ring," where Axl Rose threatens rock journalists by name because they gave him bad reviews; the misinterpretation of Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"; another version of "Don't Cry"; and the bizarre closer, "My World," which probably captures Rose's instability as effectively as the tortured poetry of his epics. That said, there are numerous strengths to Use Your Illusion II; a couple of songs have a nervy energy, and for all their pretensions, the overblown epics are effective, though strangely enough, they reveal notorious homophobe Rose's aspirations of being a cross between Elton John and Freddie Mercury. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo
