It is one of the best-selling albums of all time. The album was developed from a musical, Neverland, a futuristic rock version of Peter Pan, which Steinman wrote for a workshop in 1974. It was recorded during 1975-1976 at various studios, including Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York, produced by Todd Rundgren, and released in October 1977 by Cleveland International/Epic Records. Bat Out of Hell has spawned two Meat Loaf sequel albums: Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose. Bat Out of Hell has sold over 43 million copies worldwide. It is certified 14x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is the best-selling album in Australia. Night Parade Of One Hundred Demons, otherwise referred to as Hyakki Yagyo, depicts an ancient Japanese legend in which a throng of demons, ghosts and other spine-chilling paranormal creatures descend on sleeping villages at night, once a year. According to one tale, anyone who witnesses this supernatural procession will perish instantly or be abducted. To avoid being taken away by the otherworldly beings, villagers hide in their homes. Deze plaat zou een weergave zijn van Lordi door de jaren heen. Het is een grap, want Lordi bestond nog niet in de jaren zeventig. Maar wat als Lordi al decennialang successingles schrijft? Met dat idee, de muziek van Killection, en de extra tijd die de coronaellende Mr. Lordi gaf, ging hij aan de slag met het schrijven van meer materiaal in stijlen waarvan Lordi zich normaliter niet bedient. Het resultaat is de boxset Lordiversity. Het zijn zeven albums met elk een eigen karakter. Elk van die platen past in een periode uit de muziekgeschiedenis. Het geluid is onmiskenbaar Lordi, maar verschilt dusdanig van de gebruikelijke shockrock en -metal dat het uniek klinkt. Het idee is in ieder geval bijzonder origineel. Met de geweldige titel Abusement Park blijft Lordi op dit hoofdstuk uit de Lordiversity-boxset dicht bij huis. De band bedient zich van glam-, sleaze- en hardrock in de stijl van onder meer W.A.S.P. en Twisted Sister. Geen onbekende invloeden wanneer je vaker naar Lordi luistert. Het is dan ook zeker geen onontgonnen gebied voor het kwintet. Helaas is het juist dit album dat wat tegenvalt. De periode waarop de Finnen hier teruggrijpen staat niet bekend om zijn virtuoze muzikale escapades. De doorgaans rechttoe-rechtaan songs hebben vaak weinig om het lijf met eenvoudige melodieen, dito instrumentatie en flauwe teksten.
