You could call it hard rock or heavy metal, but on this LP it's probably closest to Métal Hurlant. This is hardly the first slab of molten black and silver forged by the members of the band, who have previously traveled the Iommic byways of configurations like Magic Circle, Blazon Rite, Concilium, Witchtrial, and Missionary Work. Here, they join together to forge new routes through the whirlpool where matter vanishes. Through the album, the group journeys out-of-body with cuts like Lightspeed Nights, Into the Gleam, and Fire In You Fire In Me, drifting through degenerate stars and iron suns. Hear throughout taut Pete Way-inspired underpinnings, keyboard flourishes reminiscent of Don Airy's late '70s work, and vocals that recall the emotion and grit of Buffalo's Dave Tice. In 2013 he released his first solo album, Emmettronica '98-'05, it was a collection of home recorded tracks that didn't find a home in the various bands he was in. Most of the instruments were played by Emmett. In 2014 he release his second album 'Bloody Marvels', this was much more a band effort with a strong list of guest musicians from the strong local scene including Chloe Herington, Richard Larcombe, Matt Stevens, David J. Smith. An atmospheric haunting album strong on mood melody. Rearing its head out of the seemingly endless darkness of the north, Sweden based NATTRADIO are a rather recent born, obscure entity with so far only one full length album to their name. If the strength of their second album "The Longest Night" is anything to go by NATTRADIO's obscurity should be over soon, though. The album is characterised by a sombre and pervasive sense of melancholy that splendidly encapsulates themes of isolation and emotional struggle. Preferably listened to during the night's darkest hours "The Longest Night" is a record that gently envelops you.
