Shivaree es un trío estadounidense, aunque podríamos confundirnos fácilmente y decir que es una solista debido a la presencia física y vocal de la bellísima Ambrosia Parsley, quien es acompañada por Danny McGough (teclados), Duke McVinnie (guitarra) y, a veces, otros músicos.
La banda consiguió su momento de gloria cuando Quentin Tarantino incluyó la canción "Goodnight Moon" de la banda en su película "Kill Bill 2".

Se dice que Parlsey empezó a cantar en una pizzería de su ciudad natal con un músico de 99 años que tocaba el banjo. A los 13 años se fue de casa y conoció al guitarrista Duke McVinnie, que había trabajado con Exene Cervenka, Johnny Otis y J.J. Cale en un estudio de grabación.
Luego ambos conocieron al teclista Danny McGough, que había participado en giras de Tom Waits, y empezaron a tocar juntos bajo el nombre de "Junebug". A fines de 1999 editaron su primer disco "I Oughtta Give You a Shot in the Head for Making Me Live in This Dump", ya bajo el nombre Shivaree.
En el 2002 editan "Rough Dreams", disco con el que consolidarían la fama ganada.
En el 2004, a modo de adelanto del próximo disco, editan el EP "Breach". Y recién en el 2005 sería publicado "Who's got trouble" (un discazo).
Este año (2007) editaron "tainted love mating calls and fight songs", un album de covers.
