Reported heroic conduct of the wounded female officer

During today's incident on the Egypt border, smugglers attacked the jeep in which was Captain Or Ben Yehuda, the company commander of the battalion &quot;Caracal&quot;.

Or received serious wounds to upper body from the missile's shrapnel, as she and her signal man were fired upon by the smugglers from three different sides, including with an anti-tank missile.

Despite her serious injury, she was able to call in reinforcements, and to return fire scoring bullet hits on one of the smugglers.

As reinforcements arrived, three of the smugglers were killed.

She lives in Mevaseret Zion, and after series of emergency procedures in intensive care this afternoon at Hadassah hospital.

She is among the first women who successfully graduated from the infantry combat officer course, ahead of male classmates. She is reportedly considered in a very good standing with the IDF officers, and no one doubts that if she can be rehabilitated from injury, she will return to the army.
