The whole "plot" though grinds to a halt periodically for a strip scene or a surprisingly tame sex scene. Despite it's lurid title this nowhere near as graphic as similar American "roughie" pornos like Alex DeRenzy's "Femmes de Sade" or Lee Frost's "Slaves in Cages" . Nor does it hold a candle to Joe D'Amato's equally ridiculous but much more exploitative ventures into this same subject such as "Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade" and "Emanuelle Around the World". And for better or worse it's not nearly as realistic and depressing as Carlo Lizzani's "The Prostitution Racket" or the much more recent Russian film "Lilya 4ever". But if you just want to watch a bunch of German actresses strip off and simulate very tame sex, you might prefer this to any of the films previously mentioned. Prevented by the censors from doing anything stronger, 60's exploitation filmmakers like David Freiedman, Herschel Gordon Lewis, and Barry Mahon resorted to making "nature documentaries"--basically home movies shot at nudist camps (although the actual nudists were usually told to take a hike and attractive and voluptuous nude models were put in their place). Naturally, the acting and production values were atrocious and the films were much more silly than erotic. It is always refreshing to see naked women before the modern era of institutionalized anorexia and silicone implants, but you'd do better with the later 70's sexploitation films like the "roughies" or the "ghoulies" which often featured the same kinds of women but were far sleazier and had actual (and often mind-warping) plots. You see one nudie-cutie film on the other hand you've seen them all. How on Earth can they justify the amount of facking the viewers come to expect and pay for, and at the same time keep the story and the characters believable? Usually, this just does not work. But this does not mean that it never works. There is the odd film here and there in which the writers did find a plot device for justifying or even requiring frequent fornication. In Night Dreams the sex is not really happening, it is dreamt by our heroine (Tori Welles) who is frigid when awake and, er, hedonistic in her dreams. Two psychiatrists observe her dreams using a special dream-watching machine. Needless to say, we join them. Unfortunately, Andrew Blake is a lousy story teller, and so he does not develop this idea much further. Blake’s strength is style, waggonloads of style, although one can easily blame him for overdoing it in some of his pictures. In Night Dreams he keeps the balance. Chelsea Manchester gives a surprisingly romantic performance, and all the ladies in the film are very willing. From the escape-out-the-window scene to the tear-jerking ending, this is a beautifully made movie and there is not another one like it. Adam film world rated it 5 stars and I absolutely agree. One great great porn movie. It is hard for me to write this review, inasmuch as there’s not room enough for me to write an encyclopedia! A twisted cross between Scorsese's Taxi Driver and a grimy 70s XXX feature, it follows nut-job rapist Burt (played by porn-star Jamie Gillis) as he sets out to cleanse the filthy women of New York, via the use of high colonics. Directed by smut-merchant Shaun Costello (but often accredited to Gerard 'Deep Throat' Damiano), this film inevitably features a fair dose of hardcore sex acts and 'other scenes of a graphic nature', but it also works as a thriller (thanks largely to Gillis's convincing turn as a total crackpot), meaning that fans of extreme exploitation can offer up a fairly valid (if not completely convincing) excuse for watching this filthy, disturbing and quite nauseating fetish flick.
