Testament es una de las más grandes bandas de thrash metal. De hecho, el quinteto de San Francisco parecía al borde de desafiar a Metallica (su más obvia influencia inicialmente) en las apuestas de Thrash Melódico.

Sin embargo, su carrera hacia la cumbre cayó debido principalmente a la inconsistencia, las malas decisiones de negocios, y la menguante popularidad del género a comienzos de los 90 en favor de otros sonidos musicales como el emergente grunge.

Negándose a cambiar de estilo como Metallica, Testament rápidamente se desvaneció de la vista a principios de los 90, pero al contrario que otras bandas de su generación permaneció activa y siguió siendo bastante popular dentro de la escena underground.

Testament es una banda estadounidense de thrash metal de California. Tiene tres discos que entraron en el Top-50 en las listas inglesas, en 1999 con el disco "The Gathering" entró en el Top-50 alemán y tambíen varios discos con mucho éxito en Estados Unidos. En los últimos años unas malas decisiones de negocios y la menguante popularidad del género han sido un problema para su mayor crecimiento. Segun un censo que ise a la mayoria de mis amigos, no conocen esta banda asi que este es un buen momento para hacerlo.
