Los Ratones sin duda son lindos y sencillos en sus entornos naturales, pero pueden ser devastadoras plagas cuando se introducen en nuevos entornos. En algunas partes de Nueva Zelanda y Australia, la ausencia de depredadores naturales les permite reproducirse sin control y devastan los cultivos locales y las poblaciones de aves.
