Carmen Electra (de nombre real Tara Leigh Patrick) es una actriz estadounidense con ascendencias alemana, irlandesa y cherokee. Su madre, ya fallecida, era cantante, y su padre era guitarrista.
Tras estudiar brevemente en la Escuela de Arte de Cinncinatti, comenzó su carrera en el mundo del espectáculo en 1992 como cantante de rap grabando un disco en el sello de Prince, quien le había descubierto en una audición previa.
Además de su faceta musical, Carmen, que adoptó su nombre artístico después de que Prince le dijese que le recordaba a la Carmen de Prosper Merimée, fue modelo y chica Playboy.
Posó desnuda para la famosa revista en el mes de marzo de 1996, lo que provocó que Lisa Verger, la vicepresidente de la cadena MTV, la escogiese para reemplazar a la también exuberante Jenny McCarthy en el famoso programa "Singled Out". Se casó en 1998 con el baloncestista Dennis Rodman. El matrimonio duró pocas semanas.Pasó unos días en un hotel con Tommy Lee, batería de Motley Crue y esposo de Pamela Anderson por esa época, para vengarse de Rodman, al que había hallado anteriormente en un hotel con dos chicas. Con posterioridad, Rodman quiso agredir a Tommy Lee en un concierto pero fue frenado por los guardaespaldas del grupo Motley Crue.Últimamente son habituales sus participaciones en comedias paródicas como la citada "Scary Movie", "Date Movie", "Epic Movie", "Casi 300" o "Disaster Movie".
