Also known as instantaneous rigor, cataleptic rigidity, or instantaneous rigidity.
Rare form of muscular stiffening that occurs at the moment of death, persists into the period of rigor mortis and can be mistaken for rigor mortis.
The cause is unknown, but usually associated with violent deaths happening with intense emotion
may affect all muscles in the body, but typically only groups, such as the forearms, or hands
seen in cases of drowning victims when grass, weeds, roots or other materials are clutched, and provides proof of life at the time of entry into the water.
Often demonstrates the last activity one did prior to death and is therefore significant in forensic investigations, e.g. clinging on a knife tightly.

También conocido como rigor instantánea, rigidez cataléptico o rigidez instantánea.
Forma poco frecuente de rigidez muscular que se produce en el momento de la muerte, persiste en el período de rigor mortis y se puede confundir con el rigor mortis.
La causa es desconocida, pero por lo general asociada con las muertes violentas que suceden con intensa emoción
puede afectar a todos los músculos en el cuerpo, pero típicamente sólo grupos, tales como los antebrazos o manos
visto en los casos de las víctimas de ahogamiento cuando los materiales hierba, malas hierbas, raíces u otra se aferraba, y proporciona pruebas de vida en el momento de la entrada en el agua.
A menudo demuestra la última actividad lo hizo antes de la muerte y por lo tanto significativo en las investigaciones forenses, por ejemplo, aferrándose en un cuchillo con fuerza.
