Antes del comienzo de la II Guerra Mundial, y desconfiando de la Alemania Nazi, se decidió dotar a Moscú de unas defensas para un posible ataque Alemán. Algunas de estas defensas no se llegaron a utilizar ya que el frente se estabilizó a pocos kilómetros de ellas. Estas defensas se encuentran en el pueblo de Nakhabino en los alrededores de Moscú.
