La historia se desarrolla en Sudáfrica durante el Apartheid, describiendo cómo el racismo y el odio inundan las mentes de todas las personas que viven bajo el régimen. La trama se presentará a través de 3 personajes principales: Sam (Rhames), un noble criado de un niño llamado Hally (Highmore), con el que ejerce cierta influencia paternal; y Willie (Mofokeng), otro joven criado algo más joven que Sam al que curiosamente le encantan los bailes de salón.
