Me di a la tarea de buscar a ver si ya lo habían posteado y no lo encontré. Al comienzo no sabía bien donde ubicarlo (Zona de Arte, Diseño y Fotografía o incluso en Fotos y Modelos). Es agradablelas combinaciones que hace, lo renacentista con la tecnología contemporanea, la fotografía con las artes plásticas...:

Mariano Vargas se enamoró de la belleza antes de alcanzar el uso de razón. Ajeno a las modas, Mariano Vargas ha ido elaborando un inmenso y particular mundo que combina con éxito tradición y contemporaneidad.
La obra de Mariano Vargas se encuentra imbuida por el misterio surreal que imprimen las combinaciones imprevistas pero posibles, los espacios oníricos pero reconocibles, el erotismo turbador pero elegante. Todo apoyado con una técnica impecable y un sentido compositivo derivado de la tradición.
Como podía ser previsible, dadas las características apuntadas, Mariano Vargas está siendo requerido internacionalmente y en un corto espacio de tiempo ha recibido un importante premio británico (10th Charity Erotic Awards-Photographer of the year) y ha sido seleccionado por la editora Taschen como uno de los mejores fotógrafos eróticos de la actualidad.

Todo empieza con un destello de la intuición. Mariano Vargas camina y respira siempre con los sentidos atentos a cualquier atisbo de belleza. Puede estar en cualquier lugar y en cualquier instante. No se deja engañar por lo evidente y busca sin tregua. Fija la mirada en un hombro semidesnudo iluminado por la lámpara de un café y desdibujado por las líneas difusas del humo. Escrutina las sonrisas obligadas que asoman tras los mostradores de las tiendas hasta encontrar una diferente. Alguna vez se ha descubierto a sí mismo siguiendo los pasos apresurados de una desconocida porque le ha parecido ver de soslayo una nuca de porte renacentista. Es el principio y el fin. Es la belleza atrapada en la figura de la mujer única y con silueta de enigma.
El fotógrafo recurre entonces al pintor que nunca le abandonó y traza un boceto rápido sobre el papel para no perder el momento. La mujer aporta su presencia, él crea la circunstancia que hace de la mujer el eje en torno al que gira el mundo sin que ella lo sepa. Encuentra a la mujer y la mujer le dice sin palabras quién puede llegar a ser. Se despoja de sus ropajes y deja que sea el espacio creado por el fotógrafo el que la envuelva para mostrar lo que siempre ha sido sin saberlo. Una madonna sostiene en la mano una flor metálica de aristas imposibles, otra deja rodear su cuello translúcido por una serpiente y una tercera desafía al espejo sin miedo a perder la batalla.
Mariano Vargas oscila entre un pasado poblado de referencias y un futuro en el que es él quien decide el final de cada historia. La cámara es poco más que un sustituto del pincel. Utiliza sin complejos las herramientas a su alcance para acercarse a la perfección de las líneas y del color. Construye escenarios, viste, desviste, estudia cada punto de luz, hace y deshace. Sólo cuando tiene ante sí lo que imaginó al ver un hombro desnudo bajo la lámpara de un café aprieta el disparador y da vida a una madonna. [Por Sandra Balvín]
