Nace Carlos Santana, en Autlán de Navarro (México). Guitarrista de rock y fusión. Sus tres primeros álbumes –Santana (1969), Abraxas (1970), Santana III (1971)– son piezas capitales del rock al encuentro de los ritmos latinos

Apareció en 1969 como una sorpresa para los asistentes del festival de Woodstock. Carlos Santana tiene una carrera musical que ya pasa los treinta años y en los que ha combinado el blues, los ritmos afrocaribeños, rock and roll y su estilo único de tocar guitarra. Fue uno de los primeros artistas en fusionar ritmos de diversos orígenes, inclusive antes de que se empezara a hablar de Música del Mundo.



Carlos Santana es un verdadero virtuoso de la guitarra, además de líder de una banda musical que lleva su apellido. Desde 1966 ha vendido más de 30 millones de álbumes y se ha presentado ante 13 millones de personas.

Carlos Alberto Santana Barrangán es un guitarrista mexicano de Rock, Rock latino y Jazz Rock. Su padre fue violinista en una banda de mariachi. De joven, Carlos aprendió a tocar el violín, pero lo cambió por la guitarra cuando tenía ocho años. En 1955 su familia se mudó a Tijuana. Allí Santana empezó a tocar en clubes y bares en la zona turística.

En 1999 es editado Supernatural, que contó con la participación de varios artistas musicales como lo son: Dave Matthews, Everlast, Rob Thomas, Lauryn Hill, Cee-Lo, Maná, Eagle Eye Cherry y Eric Clapton. Con el tiempo la venta del álbum sobrepasó los 25 millones de copias a nivel mundial, ganó 15 veces el premio platino en los EE. UU., nueve premios Grammy (ganó en nueve de las diez categorías en las que fue nominado) y 3 premios Grammy Latino. Su canción "Smooth" fue la #1 en el Billboard hot 100 durante 12 semanas y su canción "María María" duró 10 semanas.
