David Norris (Matt Damon) es un ambicioso político a punto de conseguir un asiento en el Senado de Estados Unidos, cuando conoce a la guapa bailarina de danza contemporánea Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt), una mujer totalmente diferente de todas las que ha conocido hasta ahora.
