La banda fue formada por Andrew Neufeld y Jeremy Hiebert, que eran miembros de otro grupo llamado
Figure Four con la colaboración de dos amigos: Scott Wade y Kyle Profeta. Su afilición con Facedown
Records (discográfica que publica principalmente música alternativa de temática cristiana) y Figure Four
(banda de christian-hardcore), ha provocado que mucha gente piense que Comeback Kid es también una
banda cristiana. Lo cierto es que no todos sus miembros son cristianos. Mayormente sus letras hablan de
justicia, amistad, resistencia y la contemplación de una vida moderada. Desde ciertos puntos de vista,
leyendo "entre líneas" las letras de algunas canciones, pueden extraerse mensajes de contenido
espiritual.
