Accidente aereo en manta - ecuador

El 24 de enero del 2007, sólo nueve días después de haber asumido el cargo de Ministro de Defensa de las Fuerzas Armadas del Ecuador, Guadalupe Larriva murió en un accidente aéreo en las cercanías de la ciudad costera de Manta; su hija de 17 años y cinco oficiales del ejército perecieron en el siniestro. Dos días antes, la ministra había manifestado que no renovaría el contrato a las Fuerzas Armadas Americanas y que estaba en contra de la Base Militar de Manta, operada por Estados Unidos desde el 2000, en territorio ecuatoriano.

Se ha sospechado que existe relación entre este anuncio y el accidente
