Boot Into Linux From a USB stick (good for data recovery) 200mb

This is useful if you get locked out of your windows box by a virus or someone messing with your password etc. just follow the instructions in the README file. yes i know there are probably better and/or simpler ways of doing this, this is just what i threw together according to my own personal preference -- and it has come in handy several times. you could also use this as a hacking tool, so please don't, LOL.

INSTRUCTION

Step 1. Copy everything in this directory, as is, onto a freshly formatted USB stick.

Step 2. Go into the directory "boot" and run "bootinst.bat" to make the USB stick
"bootable".

Step 3. You can now boot directly into SLAX (which is a minimal "Slackware" distribution
of Linux) from the USB stick in question on pretty much any (modern) computer.
Choose the "text-mode" option from the start-up menu to avoid KDE.

Step 4. If you are doing this for data recovery reasons, then mount /dev/hda1 as
/mnt/hda1, and then copy all of the files that you need from your windows hard
drive back onto the USB stick, which will already be mounted as /mnt/sda1.
