La historia se desarrolla en un restaurante familiar llamado Wagnaria situado en Hokkaido, Takanashi Souta de 16 años, estudiante de secundaria, trabaja a tiempo parcial junto con sus extraños compañeros de trabajo: Taneshima Popura, una chica de secundaria que es un año mayor que Souta, quién es fácilmente confundible por estudiante de escuela primaria y media, y Shirafuji Kyoko el 28 años, gerente de la tienda que no se molesta en hacer ningún trabajo en absoluto.

Sinopsis
