La historia sucede en Estados Unidos, en donde conocemos a un niño llamado Joey Jones (nombre mas gringo no pudieron encontrar) . Un día normal para Joey consiste en trabajar de medio tiempo en un restaurant, acudir a la escuela y ser molestado (Bulleado) por el hermano mayor de una de sus amigas, quien es una porrista.
Por supuesto, siempre se puede contar con un amigo defensor para esos caso, y en este caso es un chico que anda con muletas (desconozco si es permanente o temporal) llamado Psy. El por supuesto jugará el papel de mejor amigo del protagonista y lo sacara de apuros con actitud liviana y despreocupada.
Lina, el nombre de la porrista que parece tener un enamoramiento hacia Joey será por supuesto, nuestra damisela en desgracia en turno.
Joey trabaja para ayudar a su abuela, una anciana que escucha rock mientras realiza aseo en su casa, y por supuesto tiene un presupuesto limitado para cumplir con caprichos, sin embargo la escuela a la que va parece reunir a chicos con amplias posibilidades económicas, y algunos de ellos pertenecen al grupo del cual el hermano mayor de Lina es el líder.
Una tarde cuando Joey regresa de la escuela acompañado por Psy, ve al grupo de rufianes jugando con el juguete de moda, un robot operable vía control remoto. Los pretenciosos adolescentes se descuidan y mandan al robot hacia la autopista, por supuesto, el juguete es atropellado al instante.
El dueño del robot, al ver el estado del juguete decide tirarlo a la basura, al final, su padre puede comprarle uno nuevo en cualquier momento. Sin embargo la basura de unos es el tesoro de otros, y Joey, quien vio todo desde el otro lado de la acera , se acerca para tomar aquel robot deshecho.
Por supuesto, el niño logra repararlo pese a no hacerlo funcional de nuevo, y lo nombra Heroman. Una tarde, cuando Joey sale a su trabajo, olvida cerrar un tragaluz de su habitación, y una lluvia considerable cae sobre su recientemente reparado Heroman.
En cuanto Joey se da cuenta de lo que hizo, se apresura a ir a su casa para cerrar el tragaluz, pero cuando llega ya es demasiado tarde, Heroman esta empapado. Joey entonces trata de quitarlo del lugar pero un relámpago cae sobre el robot y al mas puro estilo estadounidense se convierte en un robot de 3 metros con autonomía de movimiento (esto a causa de que unos extraterrestres que fueron contactados por un científico amigo de Joey, han aceptado la invitación para llegar a la tierra).

La serie esta chevere, stan lee siempre le hace nombre al mejor creador de comics y ahora incursionando en anime con Bones. promete ser Interesante esta serie.
